I'm kinda stuck at a crossroads of mole tunnels right now. I really wanted it to be Tooske but knew it was a bit of a long shot. Now that I'm forced out of that tunnel I have to reevaluate and none of the options are stellar. This episode really didn't help either.
After last week's -$3000 fiasco, it felt like this week was just a way to help build the pot back up. The first challenge was hardly a challenge (it's just math...) and not the most exciting to watch. You can argue Kees had poor communication at the start of the challenge, but they figured it out quickly enough. There's only two potential sabotages. 1) Fons removing the 0 stone after the fact, or 2) the largest tower being added incorrectly, which felt a bit of a team effort. I'm not going back to double check the second point, because it's too much work for what was probably human error or just a boring sabotage. 'I placed the wrong stone so the math didn't add up right' should not make the reunion highlight reel.
The second challenge felt a bit like it was missing a trick but compared to the last several episodes with boring challenges I'll take it. The dancers were awesome and you could tell the contestants were having a great time. The major problem I had with the whispers was that it just didn't seem to matter? Like Fons got to check with Rian at one point and she corrected him. Before she does that you can even see her tell someone further away the colors green and brown. Like...wasn't this against the rules? Just felt like a challenge where they wanted them to earn back some money. Which is okay I suppose after last week, but just feels like production is allowing a bending of the rules due to a problem production caused last week. If you don't want -$3k out of the pot, don't have it on offer. Thing that stood out: you can't hear Rik whisper during Rosario and Kees' turns. Production trying to make them look more suspicious? Or actual sabotage?
The analogue test was super interesting, and felt borderline intentional at this point in this season because there's been a lot of spreading the last few weeks from several of the contestants. It felt designed to force them to tunnel a bit more. I thought it was appropriately challenging for an episode 6 test, and I don't mind if they continue to make this a twist ONCE a season and keep it on the back-end of the season. I find challenges that affect the quiz only (no money involvement) interesting but don't want to see them too frequently (because again no money involvement).
The parts that made this episode better than the last few weeks for me was outside the challenges. Everyone absolutely dunking on Fons for not being the treasurer at the start of the episode was hilarious. The Babs/Rosario bond was no surprise, but then he reveals he's in a bond with Fons already, and Fons is in a bond with Tooske! Like, hello, where's this information been hiding? I wish they'd show these scenes! And Fons trying to spy on Babs and Rosario was comedy supreme. Like his slide back inside when they call him out is a meme. Him coming back out with a random bag of laundry was just hilarity. The dance lessons are fully unnecessary but fun regardless. I've missed them DOING THINGS the last few weeks.
So yeah, not a perfect episode, but a bit closer to the fun WIDM we all know and love. I'm not sold on any one mole, but my top suspect is Anna, followed by Kees and Fons, then Rosario. It's not Rian and Babs. I refute it. Anna's just been a bit too quite and a bit too knowledgable about the goings on of each challenge without doing anything to help them along. Fons and Kees have been obvious, but last year's mole was obvious so I can't rule them out. Babs really seems set on Rosario, but his loosing the -$3000 I think would be too much of a production meddle to be allowed. It could just be random dumb luck though, in which case I'll eat my words.

    Its defenitly.....
Rosario! The 0 sign for maya looked like a bread. Rosario got a bread tarot card and the title was nothing is something. There are like 10 more Hints for him that are not to obvious and that's why im 90% sure its him. They want us to suspect Anna. I think That the finale is gonna be Rosario, Anna and then i'll go with fons. Fons as the losing finalist, Anna as the winner and Rosario as the Mole.

There are indeed a lot of things pointing to Rosario as the mole... and I think that your list of finalists seems very likely

I missed a few weeks on vacation but I finally caught up to the current episode. Looking back at my rankings after Episode 1, I think I was WAY off. In fact, the candidate I ranked least likely to be the Mole after the first episode is now my top choice...
#1. Rosario! I think it's him. His actions point to him being the Mole. The clues point to him being the Mole. When he's not involved, the group is making money (like Episode 1 and this episode). When he is involved, the group is losing money (especially last episode). I think his strategy was to lay low in the first episode to throw people off (mission accomplished, for me anyway). He probably knew there would be opportunities later to remove money from the pot, so he was ok with earning money and building trust at the beginning. He probably figured that the WIDM fans would assume the Mole wouldn't want to find the topito - so he did the opposite. And then he just went all out to lose money and fail challenges over the next several episodes. He only got one question right on the mountain climb and passed a hard question to Jip (which she got wrong). He left the girls behind in the street challenge so they couldn't help solve the puzzle. He intentionally sent pictures with multiple wrestlers in them so they wouldn't count. He took control of the phone in the antiques challenge to waste time. He says he loves games, but the team winds up losing money playing the brain games on the boat. He stalled in the pinata game and suggested wrong answers to others. I also think Jeroen yelling out "Rosario!" to come to the phone is going to be played back in the Finale, like "did you realize you were yelling for the Mole to come give instructions to Dennis?"
There are several clues, including his face on the negative money, reflections/mirror images during the quizzes, "Mol Ik" (I am the Mole) in the pinata, and I think there is a hint in this episode. To me, the 0 Mayan number looks more like bread than a melon. Rosario's tarot card was bread in Episode 1. He even says "I like bread." The name of the challenge translates to "Nothing is Everything". Could that mean the symbol for the number 0 (nothing) is a clue to the Mole? I'm officially in the Rosario tunnel.
For my other choices, it's odd that I was all-in on Anna at the beginning, she's still in the game, and yet I'm switching my vote. I guess I'll keep her as #2 on my list just as a matter of pride. I now think it was clever editing in Episode 1 to lead viewers astray.
For #3, I'll go with Kees. Although I think it's more likely that he is "Fake Mole TM" as others have stated. It is still a strange coincidence that he always seems to be sitting behind the eliminated player.
For #4, I'll say Fons. He seems to screw up a lot of stuff, but I actually think that will wind up being innocent mistakes.
Rian really doesn't do much at all, other than move slowly, so I'll put her at #5. I'll be really disappointed if it winds up being her.
And finally, Babs at #6. I was sad to see her go at the beginning, so part of me is glad she's back. But another part of me thinks it is odd to have someone in the game that is definitely not the Mole. I also expect the finale to be 4 people instead of the usual 3. If it's only 3 and one is Babs, the remaining contestant will know for sure who it is, and I don't think they'd allow that.
    Thanks as always, Julies!

You just blew my mind with the “nothing is everything” bread clue! And before the season started, we were all talking about the images from the tarot cards potentially being used for hidden clues, and how hopefully we wouldn’t have to be on the lookout for bread, or umbrellas, or mermaids in every episode 😂

Not to be 'that person', but the Mayan symbol for 0 is meant to represent a sea shell. It's the actual image; they didn't alter it or anything. Maybe I'd be more behind the theory if Rosario had the mermaid picture or something. What I'm more curious about is the mirror imagery, because there's a scene in this episode (when he and Babs are forming a bond) that the entire scene is inverted (the sign behind them is mirrored, as is Babs' hair). What's the theory of the mirror images?

@@thefuzzyoranges yea I gotta say that my mole now is Anna.

Liked this episode a lot more than the last one in terms of challenges! Kees has had a few times this series with bad communication now shown to the audience. Feels a bit obvious to how they usually “hide” mole actions but it would be a good way to mole as you say. For me Fons had a vibe that he was just checking someone else’s work (one of his suspects?) rather than actively moling.
So for me it’s out of Anna, Rian, and Ros. And out of those I’m feeling Ros . It’s been hard though cause they’ve said this group doesn’t care about money so it’s been harder than in past years to pin anything down haha!

A better episode than the last... But the numbers game was confusing for the viewer... Wish they could show us the running total of the piles. My mol list is 1. Rhian because she does very little. 2. Sorry. 3. Fons

This episode was more enjoyable than last week’s for sure, even though Tooske went home (😢). I knew she was getting the red screen as soon as I saw the look on her face when Rik called her name during the elimination. She knew her luck had run out. Oh well. She was standing right next to Kees as he described the Mayan numbers to the group during the first assignment, so I can’t really blame her for voting for him. Fake Mole Kees ™️ strikes again.
At this point, I feel like Rosario has to be the mole, and either Kees or Fons have to make it to the finale, or else there will be no suspense whatsoever. Especially if Babs (clearly not the mole) is a finalist. I mean, imagine a Rosario/Babs/Rian finale. No thanks. BUT based on my analysis of editing decisions that were made during the first episode, I think Kees and Fons are a little less likely to make it to the finale than Anna and Rian. So, I have two conflicting theories about what the editors are doing here. Maybe next week’s episode will clear things up a little bit.
The first assignment was essentially Anna, Babs, and Tooske versus 4 moles, with Kees and Fons doing by far the most moling, and Rosario doing…the least? Actually? I wish we knew for sure which table was incorrect. I’m assuming it was the one that Fons removed the “zero” stone from, if this was strictly against the rules. That would mean that, despite all of his antics, Kees actually added up the large number on his table correctly. Rosario was really pushing the narrative that Anna and Tooske were awful with the walkie-talkies, but I wasn’t seeing it. I think Rosario wasn’t able to do much in this assignment because Babs was keeping an eye on him. For those who don’t watch the video clips posted on the WIDM CZcams channel, they posted an extra scene last week that showed the group voting for the new treasurer, and Babs was pretty much the only one who was strongly against Rosario getting the pot. Hmm…Babs comes back into the game with additional information from Jip and Justin, immediately chooses Rosario as a partner during the first assignment last week, doesn’t want him getting his hands on the money, and watches him like a hawk again this week? Food for thought.
The second assignment was fun to watch, and I’m actually impressed that they earned as much as they did, with so much opportunity for sabotage. I noticed something interesting that happened during the second round of dancing. During this round, Rian was the person to get the information directly from Rik, and Fons was the last person in line. But Fons actually went and passed the information back to Rian, who was then able to tell him that he was wrong. Was this allowed? If so, why didn’t they do this every time? I guess it could just lead to even more confusion, depending on who the first/last people in line are (ex: if either of them are Kees). But anyway, this action from Fons can be interpreted in SO many different ways. Was he checking to verify that the information he heard was correct? Did he change the information himself, or did someone else? Was he attempting to confuse Rian? Was he testing Rian? I think Fons is more clever than I have been giving him credit for. And poor Anna, having to hear everything from Kees. I can only imagine what that must have been like, lol.
I liked this season’s version of an analog test better than last season’s (if there had been ostriches, it would have been a different story). Babs had the best strategy for the test by far. But, I do think that candidates with more than one main suspect (which is probably still most of them at this point) would have been really thrown off by this test format. Not only do you have to memorize answers, but also keep a count of how many of those yes’s and no’s apply to each suspect, when you probably don’t even remember what the questions were anymore. That’s got to be tough. Fons’s joker mysteriously went missing, after they made it a point to tell us at the beginning of the episode that Rosario was Fons’s roommate…so that’s interesting. But it’s also confusing, because if Fons is still voting for Anna, Rian, and Tooske, and he wasted time looking for the joker, which he ultimately didn’t even find…how the heck did he still do better than Tooske? Was her score really that bad?
Final thoughts: WIDM 2023- mole screams “F*** that money!” in the middle of an assignment. WIDM 2024- mole accidentally-on-purpose throws the pot on the floor. Lower intensity level, same energy. WIDM 2023- candidate gets red screen, continues to vote for same suspect. WIDM 2024- candidate gets red screen, comes back and wins?

I think you're onto something re: Babs piecing together that Rosario is probably the Mole after being wrong with her initial guess and gaining intel from the other eliminated players. I'd bet that she makes the final, but it will be interesting to see if she can win or not because she was not present for two episodes and there will definitely be questions in the final quiz about things that happened during those challenges. It might come down to how much information Rosario is willing to share with her as part of their "bond" and whether he shares accurate info. An interesting situation for the Mole to be in, if it is in fact Rosario.

Just popping in to point out that a "returning player" has won in WIDM NL once before (Paul Rabbering in Season 7). Not only won, but managed to convince the other two finalists (it was a final four that year) that he was the Mole. Not bad considering this wasn't a "secret red screen" eliminee. Everyone knew he'd been eliminated and come back.
I've got no other comments because, honestly, I don't care. I skimmed this episode. Was thrilled to see an actual dancing challenge appear, so naturally the contestants don't have to dance and it becomes a logic puzzle. I think that says everything that needs to be said about the way this season has gone. Who's the Mole? Well Sor's the most obvious, which probably means it's not him, but who the flip knows. I knew it wasn't Tooske after they made her the focal character in the very first challenge, which they wouldn't do if she was the Mole. For the same reason I knew she wasn't making it to the finale. I kinda hope it's someone like Rian who's really laid-back and under-the-radar, but again, who knows.
Edit because a bit too ranty: for those who are enjoying this season, enjoy the rest of it, but it's not for me. Hope they go in a different direction next time with a new producer.
