The J series Engine Platform is slowly becoming popular, id consider it as the Hondas LS but an All Aluminum V6, 4 bolt Mains.
Some Versions come With All forged Internals (j35a8)
The j32a2 is in my opinion the most Reliable and has the best Stock Head design.
The Engine in this video is a Stock bottom end j35a4. I'm building it for Endurance Racing, so while I am after more Hp & Tq, I won't be running it at its full potential 😉.
In July it goes to a Road race Tuner who can hopefully get this thing Dailed in Correctly!

Nice video man. Not saying anything wrong with them but those DNJ pistons are Chinese made J32a3...so anyone that want "high compression" pistons can just use J32A3's. We make a Hyper/Semi Forged pistons (800hp guaranteed and tested in multiple 1000hp drag engines) that are much better and stronger for NA (Run cooler), Nitrous and Boost (High silicone content which absorb combination pressures better)... basically the same material all OEM manufacturers use in their forced induction applications (BMW's making 1000hp stock pistons, Audi 800+ stock pistons etc etc). We are also coming out with a V2 version for our pistons that will be 10.5:1 compression J35 and 9.5:1 for J32's. From there you want more compression a little head milling can be done to fine tune compression. Obviously a forced induction vehicle wouldn't use these DNJ 11:1 compression pistons

So I was scrolling through the website and you have j35 rods but not j32. I’m curious on the difference. I don’t want to by j35 rods if they won’t work with the j32.

@@infernoplayer5607 We are developing our J30 and J32 rods currently. As for the difference between the J32 and J35, the J35 has a longer stroke (longer main journals) and shorter rods. Now you can take J35 rods and crank and install them into your J32 and magically you now have a J35...being the J32 and J35 have the same piston bore diameter

Honda main and rod bearing shells are colorcoded to indicate thickness. Each journal and each bearing bore are carefully measured and graded as to size at the factory, and marked with an alphanumeric to indicate that size. A chart is used to determine the color bearing to be used with the journal and bore sizes to achieve exact clearance. Your guess that they would provide extra clearance at the end of an oil gallery is dismissable, as in a high pressure, low-flow lubrication system, the pressure is equalized throughout the distribution system. Hydraulics, you know.
In practice, I have rebuilt hundreds of Honda auto engines using generic non-colorcoded bearings. Using Plasticgage, they all read well in spec, even though the journals were used and not refinished.

Built a 6g72 for high-comp and higher revs. In my situation the forged rods were lighter than oem if you use the BC 625 rods which are a 200hp/cylinder rod they were like 250 grams lighter than stock. Im thinking is they were built heavier because they were built for the vr4 which was a boosted car.And they just re-use the same rods for the Sl. Slap on an aluminum flywheel and billet forged 12.5:1 pistons and rebalanced the rotating assembly. + rest of the build and its a hilarious engine when your on throttle lol. Kind of a chore at low speed because duh. Makes no torque down-low the way its built and Everything past 3-4k rpms lol..

Are the J30 and J32 blocks similar or different? I have a J30 and have heard the J32 swaps right in or just the J32 heads swap over to the J30 block. How true is this? How much power can the J32 withstand over the J30? Thanks!

    Hi, small question sort of.
I have a 99 accord with the notorious slipping auto. I want to convert it to the 6 speed manual & the wrenching side seems straight forward. The ecu side is more complicated. Is there a stock ecu I can use in place of the auto ecu & or I would like to remove egr & have a reverse lock out working.
What ecu can I use if & or removing the egr with the money light & getting everything to be happy? A swap conversion of j32 coil on plug (my j30 is still distributor) might be the engine in place as well.

Hey man, question did you break the crown of those old pistons not filing the rings down? I'm about to swap a J37 into my 06 TL(J32a3) and gap the rings for a 150-200 shot of Nitrous. Not sure if I should get new pistons or not. Also my transmission is automatic but built up a little. It has a 450hp band inside and a transmission cooler from a F-350 truck. lol Hoping the auto trans will sufice. I don't see why not it has never overheated since the cooler was put on.

    • @h2omechanic
      @h2omechanic  Před 2 lety +4

Your trans might pop at 450hp. The rings may have been the issue, but we all believe the Tuner didn't set base timing correctly and ran it too advanced on top end.
Now my new engine is 12.3 1 comp & I run 22.8⁰ timing at peak tq. Your knock sensor is key to monitor.

They should be fine. Just plasti-gauge each bearing surface. Use the green kind. J32-35 are tight tolerances. So its very important to check each one. If one bearing is way out, you'll have low oil pressure and a dead engine in a few hundred miles.
