We Gambled and it PAID OFF! Deep Water Snowy Grouper (Catch/Clean/Cook) Taco Tuesday!

- In this episode Charlie and I head offshore on the X3 bayboat for some hand crank deep dropping. Snowy Grouper and Tilefish opened up the day before on May 1st so they were the target species. The first couple hours was slow with just a few tilefish but then I asked Charlie if we should head further offshore and look for a snowy grouper. He said of course we should, so we took a chance and it paid off! First drop out deeper we got a big snowy grouper and then headed back home to cook it up. Charlie whipped up some magic and prepared a delicious dinner with both snowy grouper and tilefish for taco Tuesday! Enjoy!

That snowy grouper has beautiful white meat. Those tacos looked really good! The wife and I just returned from crocodile bay. we caught some nice rooster fish, Mahi, and yellowfin tuna, and I caught a huge cubera snapper on a live blue runner, and of course, we both were rockin' our blue stanz fishing shirts. I forgot his name, but one guy knew you and said you all used to wash boats together a long time ago. He works at crocodile bay now.

I’ve found high speed reels not so good on deep drops- harder to turn the handle. Easier for lower gear ratio and just lay rod on gunnel and crank it up- easier on your arms and back 😊
I prefer a medium speed reel myself. Like you said, high speed reel much harder to turn handle

To be fair...it was 1 hour of prep, twenty minutes of cooking, and fifteen minutes of assembly. :)

I think they can be like any type of fish and just feed at certain times, but hard to predict.

@tomjones7853 don’t you know I make more money than daddy? You should ask me for pointers instead of showing your insecure lack of self and your inability to make a great living in the USA. You should go buy the 47 Freeman I just listed for sale last week or the 42 Freeman I’m listing for sale next week. I’m not sure how good you are at math but you must realize a minimum of a few percent on a boat north of a million dollars is a pretty decent size commission. Or you could book a private charter on my Freeman, once I started offering swordfish camps (schools) again you could attend a class as well. Or if you want a long term rental and have plans to move to the Keys maybe I can rent you a house, I dabble in a little real estate too. Obviously I make part of my living from CZcams and brand endorsements as well. And If you can’t afford any of that you should buy a t shirt, I have the perfect one for you linked here. Don’t sit back and let others people financial success ruin your life, sure my dad makes a decent living but selling shrimp doesn’t buy Freemans and the other businesses I’m involved in 🙂
