    I already bought it along with their USB smart port (so it cuts off automatically when the bike isn’t running) and the pro stem mount with vibration dampening.
    I ordered this separately and due to your video I see why it’s so expensive. Seems really nice. Thanks for sharing! This is going to be way better than writing directions out and taping them to my gas tank.

    Im curious the need for the expense for the wireless charger. You still have to run a USB cord through the bike, it just wont dangle about at the bars when a phone isnt in place... but then again, I always bring my phone and as long as you always plug it into the phone, it never will dangle. Plus, USB charging is more reliable and faster.

    FYI, I've had this charger since last fall, in my experience it has not been reliable. I was out for a 100 mile ride a few days ago and the charger light continuously flashed. According to Quadlock's manual this means the charger is over heating. The outside temp was in the low 60's F so how will it fair in 70,80,90 degree weather? The charger provided zero power to my phone and the phone's power was depleted halfway home. To answer someone else's comment I did mount the vibration damper to this wireless charger.

    • @MapleBar777
      @MapleBar777 Před rokem

      Was wondering about the charging effectiveness. In my experience, induction/wireless chargers charge so slow that they can't keep up with simultaneous app/screen on use. My worry is using this for long rides with GPS* (screen on) and Spotify music playing that the phone battery will still run out mid ride.

    • @chickndogreviewsandhowtos3647
      @chickndogreviewsandhowtos3647  Před 4 lety +4

      From what I read in the manual, if your bike has a built in USB port and you connect this charger to said port, it will not draw power.
      However, if you connect it via SAE or to the battery, there is a minimal amount of power draw that could drain your battery over the course of two moths or something like that.
      Honestly, the USB cable is easy to unplug and supper accessible, so you could probably just unplug it from the back if you're concerned about your battery.

      Not really no. It feels maybe a TINY bit less secure than the standard mount, but I cannot say I'm too concerned about it's stability. I've already hit some pretty massive NYC potholes and it's been fine.
      That being said, I don't offroad, so I'm not super familiar with the forces your phone would be under. However, if you use the standard Quad Lock, I have to imagine this one will do you well too.

      @@josephgerald9961 Today I tested the ability of the wireless charger to keep up with the power consumption of my iPhone 11 Pro while the screen was on and it was actively navigating (via Google Maps).
      I'm pleased to report that the wireless charger does, in fact, have enough output to keep your battery charge going up while the phone's in use. Not sure this makes much of a difference in terms of power consumption, but I even had the directions set to my home but constantly kept ignoring the directions so it had to keep rerouting.
      The super unscientific data I have for you is I began my ride at about 77% battery, had the screen on and GPS actively navigating for about 45 minutes to and hour, and finished my ride at 90%.

      What are you talking about? It is a wireless phone charger. Of course the device needs to be wired to the bike, but once that is done, you can sit your phone on top of this device and charge your phone wirelessly without needing to plug your phone in? It's just like any other wireless charger, they all need to be plugged in to somewhere in order to receive power to wirelessly charge your device. There isn't a wireless charger on the face of our planet that doesn't require this setup. You can't just pull electricity out of thin air to power up these wireless chargers lol.
