For my big 40th birthday festivities, my husband took me to our largest and oldest local art supply store and sent me on a NO BUDGET SHOPPING SPREE!!! 🥳🎉😆🤗
My parents had given me the gift of getting myself art supplies on them, so I already did a ginormous art haul in my birthday month of December, but this one needed its own video! We are so lucky. I too have a spouse whom supports my journey. In the last week she got me all the daniel smith pocket box palettes, all the primateks, the Pelikan fountain pens and six 100% cotton watercolor sketchbooks. I don't even make videos to recoup the money. She's the greatest.

My husband is the same, " Oh, I think you have enough art supplies to last for awhile don't you? " Then next thing you know I'll get, " Just so you know I just ordered everything you had on your wish list" lol Or when we're out he asks if I want to go into a new art shop he found. He loves that I love what I do and is behind me all the way.

Wonderful gifts! I started acrylic painting with Liquitex brand, I have run the gamut of brands and found that most are very similar. Price matters, mostly because the greater the cost the more pigment and quality of acrylic binder is used. Depending upon how you are using the paint really determines how much you want to spend on your paints. Believe it or not tinting your gesso or surface preparation is ages old. Rembrandt is one of the more “modern” well known artists who is famous for creating a tinted ground as well as using a tinted paper for his lithography prints! Oh one item, acrylic gouache is just flat acrylic paint. You cannot re-activate it once it drys. I believe that many manufacturers have tried to “jump on the band wagon” of gouache’s resurgence and popularity just to sell more paint! Liqutex’s acryl-gouache is like Golden’s FLAT acrylic paints. A new line of paint to charge a premium price to their customers. You can create a flat paint from any brand by adding a Matt medium, just something to think about as you travel on your painting journey, good luck 👍🏼

@@CreatingCuteArt You are kind, I have just been a working Artist for over 35+ years and I keep trying to learn every day. I did kinda retire in 2015 and have since been trying to learn about soft pastel painting. It is quite different than most any other medium and difficult in a whole new way! I wish you much luck and joy in creating your channel. Best advice I have ever seen is : create content that you love and that you would watch. If you enjoy it it does not matter if others do, but they will! Pride and joy in ones Art is infectious!

My husband gifted me with the 98 tuber Sennelier watercolors and some gorgeous brushes.
These awesome husbands who "get" our art supply obsessions really need their own monument 😆💞🤗 Also, how wonderful, I've had Sennelier recommended but haven't had the pleasure to try them yet! Did you see Arleebean's old video with like every single Sennelier color ever? Amazing!!!

Hi, you got Fabrano Studio. It will work for gouache and if you use dry strokes, it will not work for watercolor with very wet washes, wet in wet. Fabriano Artistico is different, it's 100% cotton.

Thanks for this fun haul video! Just browsing and decided to watch your vid: Excuse me…”Do you need that?” I can’t stand that question, from anyone. My hubs USED to ask me that question too, but he just doesn’t bother anymore. Really, we could all make art with a pencil and paper, but we know that’s not gonna happen unless we’re on that proverbial desert island 🏝 and that’s all we have or we only like to do pencil art. On the other hand, we know that obsessive art supply buying can quickly get out of hand bc there’s so much great stuff out there and it’s so much friggin fun 🤩 to try NEW THINGS or add colors. Setting a budget is helpful (she who hasn’t set one says.) But really, IMHO, just making sure that you can afford what you’re buying and that you will really USE what you’re buying are the most important things as far as I’m concerned. Thanks!
p.s. Again IMHO: If you or anyone makes their own money, esp if you’re a professional artist, and are not taking away from “bill paying money” or “mutual savings” then I really don’t think you should have to justify every single art supply purchase to anyone. But it IS great & sweet & thoughtful that your hubby wanted you to have all those wonderful art supplies for your B-day!🤩 Good for him.👍

Oh my goodness.. this haul is everything I could ever want... the colors you picked... and the journals you picked are my favorites for sure... .. I also really like the little square travelogue journals because they are no pressure, and even though the pages are a bit thin, they actually take the color quite well and I love the little curl in the pages when you are done, there is just something about them and I have purchased a few... never the giant one.. maybe someday.. ; )... thanks for sharing... always love your videos...!! And you and I both love Sandi H. !!! Oh and I forgot the inks too... !! I will be saving my money for some Diamine shimmer ink... can't wait for you to swatch some of these fantastic supplies !!

For Diamine inks try cult pens. UK company but ships internationally. They even have exclusive Diamine links made just for them.
I didn't know about the shipping, that's what has scared me off all this time! I will definitely check them out for my next time I have ink or pens to order!!
@@CreatingCuteArt having looked on the cult pens site I can tell you that once you’ve selected your currency it will display at the top of the site how much you need to spend for free shipping. Something which as I know myself is very easy with all the lovely pens, inks and art supplies. I can’t tell you myself how much you need to spend for free shipping to the US as I’m in the UK. All I can say is that the amount I have to spend for free shipping seems reasonable to me.
