- Psych was unfortunately buried around so many procedural shows that nobody ever gave it a chance. Those who did, stand faithfully behind the show as Psycho's. Today's lost and found episode is bringing Psych back into the light as one of the best procedural tv shows.

Psych fans. Heads up. My EXCLUSIVE review on Lassie Come Home (the new Psych film) will be released July 1st. I have received and already watched the screener for the film. I'm currently working on the script and cannot wait to talk about this one with you guys. I hope to see you all there the first! - Mr. Tot
Is there a way to view it not on the network. I don’t wanna pay for peacock just to watch the movie
Peacock is free starting July 15th.
Spot on and I have been watching them on the Frendly streaming app during the pandemic 2-3 episodes a day.
This is my all time favorite show but almost everyone I talk to about it don’t know about the show

"Shawn is an absolute mess."
That's it. That's the show.

A smart mess lol

It's one of my comfort shows too!

plus i think 4(?) more movies(including the 1st that already released, 5 total, we'll still see) i think
Psych got me through the stretches of unemployment during the recession
Same! I’ve probably watched through the show at least five times and some of my favorite episodes over ten times.
“Ultimate comfort show” is such an accurate description. Psych is my absolute favorite show and I’m so glad someone recognizes that ❤️
I hope my review did justice for this fantastic show! I hope you subscribe and keep supporting!
If you ever marathon this, remember, look for the pineapple and never ever use this show for a drinking game or bingo
Probably get sent to the hospital 😂😂😂
I just made a drinking game
Take a shot of a different alcohol for a different running gag:
1. “I’m Shawn Spencer, and this is my partner,”
2. “That’s a company car, Shawn!” Or other Blueberry jokes
3. “Gus, don’t be a;”
4. Gus eating a lot.
5. Gus or Shawn’s high-pitched screaming.
Watch 5 episodes of Psych, whoever gets drunk last gets the grand prize, a piña colada, extra piña.
it's a great drinking game, if you want to get your stomach pumped lol

Psych is also a retelling of Sherlock Holmes. A consulting detective with his medically minded partner solve crimes with local police. Even the rival police detective has a similar name (Lassiter vs Lestrade).
Holy shit I never put that two together. That’s amazing
Hearty boys and Nancy drew had love child
Oh, shit! Yet another reason I love it. I've always loved Sherlock Holmes and all its modern versions (well, except Elementary... that was a terrible Holmes). Never even noticed the parallels.
That's given for every detective series ever.
@@PredatorH2O Not really.
The closest show to Psych is Scrubs. The bromance is that strong.
Scrubs has a fantastic bromance. Both are almost sickly over the top but it's so endearing
@@NaterTot May I recommend another great bromance series? "Strike Back" - and only watch the first 4 seasons as they change the cast later on which completely ruined the show because it wasn't the explosions that made it great but it was the amazing back and forth of the two main characters.
@@Yodamanjaro Strike Back is awesome. I really enjoyed it. I do need to finish the series though. I only know a handful of people that have seen it. So, it's on my list as well
@True Gooner Really? Any reason? I could see it being a bit difficult to watch because of the large jumps in tone and JD was such an odd character.
I really liked scrubs, but psych is much better in my opinion.
I do an annual re-watch of the series every Winter. Best show ever
It's definitely one of my favorites! I hope I did it justice for you! :)
@Cloud Gaming you're far from alone!
Cloud Gaming Fr tho one of the best shows out there
@Cloud Gaming right there with you. They have been hush hush about it but I'm sure it's gonna be awesome. I'm excited.
Why every winter? I'm curious.
One thing that I love about this show is the deep and sad moments that really reflect on what made them struggle.
- When Shawn finds out his mom left his dad and his dad still loved her.
-The ending the Yang Ep.2 with he music and the Juliette breaking down into tears and henry cleaning the Psych front window
-When Gus says he doesn't blame shawn for anything in Yang Ep.3
-When Shawn and Juliette first kiss in Declan's Foyer.
Psych does what all great comedies do. They emphasize the funny moments by making sure the characters are still planted in a world with consequences.
I completely agree. There are so many great moments throughout. Every episode is well constructed and has something great to offer whether it be through brilliant comedy, romance, or through the deeper and more serious events of the story that correlate with the developments of each character. I love that moment in the episode where Shawn beats Lassies polygraph test to convince them he's psychic, and also a great example of comedy and romance before when Shawn accidentally admits he loves Juliet during the polygraph test and it reveals true.
The mentalist joke killed me. Great stuff.
Thank you so much! I had to include one jab at the show 😂
Psych is one of my favorite shows!

When I first came across this show, I was mid depression. I hadn't smiled or laughed in a few months. I was flipping through my channels and I stopped on Psych.... It was the episode where Lassie gets framed for the murder of the guy he just caught. The part that got me... Was when Shawn is talking to Lassie and says gus was wrong about the snack cart going by that it is clearly the frozen yogurt guy. And I laughed a good bit.
I was dedicated to the show since. Love it. Love them. Wish it didn't end. But I re-watch every year. Especially when I'm feeling low.
Thanks for sharing your story, Alex. I'm sorry about your struggles with depression and I'm glad the show helped you through it. Your story is not the first I've heard in regards to Psych helping someone. It's a great, peak comfort show that really makes you feel like you're apart of a goofy, big family. Much like the community, it's one that is easy to embrace. I haven't met a negative Psych-o yet. I really hope you stick around, subscribe and support my content in the future! It means a lot to me! :)
I'm literally doing a rewatch for about the 5th time. The writing and wit is RAZOR sharp and I just love how obscure some of these jokes get.
hey king funny seeing you here
"My name is Shawn, this is Shawn, no relation."
I'm Black. He's Tan. I can't believe you just made that assumption.
"I'm Shawn Spencer, and this is my underprivileged mentee, Hollabackatcha"
"I'm Shawn this is my partner"
"Yeah yeah that's his partner Methuselah honeysuckle and I guess that makes me old scratch Johnson"
Gee buttersnaps and Lavender gooms
Thank you so much for doing Psych. Everything you said about the show is true. When I'm feeling depressed I start watching Psych and it lightens me up and just puts me in a better mood.
I'm right there with you. It's a comfort show. It's like sitting around with your friends/family and enjoying an easy day. Psych wasn't anything overly serious and you always knew what to expect. It was just about taking a journey with friends, goofy friends you could relate to. At least that's how I took it.
Even if I’m not depressed or sad I’m watching psych
@@cooperwood1766 you never need a reason to watch this show. It's just that entertaining
I started watching psych in middle school because the girl I had a crush on REALLY liked it. I ended up losing interest in her but I never lost interest in psych. Still by far my favourite comedic show to sit down and watch.
Psych is a forever thing. Unless the show creators go on and commit mass genocide, I will always support this show!
Nater Tot you can support a show without supporting the creator
-jkrowling-
@@NaterTot I mean I don’t care if they did. It’s still a masterpiece in my eyes.
@Hazyla J.K. Rowling holds that one cannot be completely 'A', and in any part 'not A', at the same time. There is something fundamentally broken when that simple claim is held to mean that she wishes physical, mental, or emotional harm on the subject whose belief she disputes with that logic, or when the logic itself is held to be somehow prideful or arrogant. The claims made against Rowling do not match anything that she has actually said. They just don't.
Psych has influenced so much of my humor and my music taste, it's also just a really great example of how to write compelling and fun characters and the actors' chemistry is unrivaled
I'm right there with you. The sarcasm mixed with the pop culture references is me to a T.
I've been a hardcore Psych fan since I discovered it in 2011. I'm about as deep into the fandom as you can go, it is what I would consider my all-time favorite show (which is a big statement coming from such a fangirl as myself). I've collected pineapple stuff for years and years, written and read fics from the beginning, had a pretty active tumblr page dedicated to the show, obsess over the actors (James Roday will always been one of my top celebrity crushes, and apparently we grew up just a few miles away from each other), etc... Psych has played a large role in my life. Some of my best friends that I talk to every single day I met because of Psych. My mom and I found it as a great show to bond over because while I had my own reasons, she loved the 80s references and such. Psych holds a very very dear place in my heart. I think this is a pretty good tribute to the show. Great job!
This is incredible. Thank you so much for sharing this and the incredible joy you receive from such a wonderful show. It's my ultimate comfort show for the simple fact it just makes me happy. I'm glad I did this review, and even though I have a lot of room left to grow in my reviews, it's still amazing sharing moments like this with fellow fans. I do hope you subscribe and follow me through my journey

@Noah Thank you for your input Noah! I can tell you're an extremely attractive and intelligent person.
@Noah Nah, honestly don't think there's anything creepy or antisocial about what she said.
@omgubler Amen to that, buddy
I remember watching and loving this show in my mid teens.
Same! It came on when I was 15? I still love it, maybe even more so now that I understand certain jokes and references
Shawn is exactly my age (in the show). All the references are nostalgic for me. I'm surprised teens could like it so much!
The 80s references on this show are beyond outrageous. As an 80s kid I totally get about 90% of them. I know people of all ages love this show, including my own teenage children, but I don't think anyone truly "gets" it like an 80s kid.
FYI: An 80s kid is not someone who was born in the 80's, but rather someone who came of age in the 80s.
Most of the 80s references goes over my head, despite that its still my favourite show ever. Probably because the writers know what the show is (absurd comedy) and they don’t try to say it’s something else. Plus I love how creative they get for a police detective show and not take it so serious (like proposing near a crime scene lol)
Edit: forgot about the bromance. Absolutely favourite part of the show
100% agreed. Best show ever made. Not even the Office or Seinfeld gets me laughing out loud like Psych does.
Red Planet facts
@@sierrak5688 Hasn't been Pluto through enough already?
The Office definitely has weak seasons and many strung together poor episodes. Seinfeld is binge worthy but some parts are quite old now.
I like the humor in psych better than the office tbh I mean I still like the office but still so I agree with you
Psych kinda reminds me of Chuck, with it's goofyness, the two main characters and the love interest.
The intersect kind of reminds me of Shawn's " psychic powers" lol I never realized this 😂
Katherine Madden Yeah, true.
Yeah love both those shows but psych is still my fave
Psych is Sherlock for Americans.
Chuck is James Bond for nerdy Americans.
Lucifer is James Bond for suave Americans.

I’ve loved psych ever since I was a kid. It was one of the first shows that my dad and I watched together and bonded over
Same, but with my mom! I bought the series boxset for her birthday.
Every few years I go back and rewatch this and Monk. Psych is definitely my favorite of the two though.
I'm right there with you. It still holds up after rewatches, decade later.
I watched both
Fun fact: my cousins banned me from watching new episodes of Psych from them cause I've had a super good track record of guessing the murderer by the halfway point of the episode. It's really good though, the scooby doo comparison might explain why I was good at it since I used to binge that as a kid
Not a bad skill to have ;) Hope you subscribe and stick around! :)
I have that talent, too. I credit mine to my mom reading me murder mysteries as a child. She would always stop before the ending and have me guess who did it.
Psych is absolutely the best comfort show, and the rewatchability is unparalleled
I agree with your opening opinions on the whole but you throw around the word "underrated" even though you clearly mention it was critically loved. I think the word you're looking for is "overlooked" because Psych very much is that. Other than that this is excellent.
This is not the first time someone has said that. So, I might need to change using the word. Overrated/Underrated IMO carries different meaning. Psych did receive solid acclaim, but we would be kidding ourselves to be saying it was held up to Big Bang Theory/Parks and Rec, etc. So, in that regard, I do keep it underrated. I think especially with the network placement it is certainly 'overlooked' which might be a better qualification. Something I'll have to be mindful for.
You keep using that word... I don't think it means what you think it means.

Agreed. I love the theme song, especially the Boys 2 Men version.
thanking you for bringing to light one of the best shows on tv ever!

Great video and great callout to Scooby-Doo! But no mention that, much like House or X-Files, it uses the Sherlock Holmes model? The quirky, but brilliant investigator, the medical field related grounded sidekick, the jealous, but ever honorable police detective rival, the demented super villain equal that pushes or hero to their limits.
These are great references but they have been made before. I think any time there is private detectives and they have a strange relationship people immediately go to Sherlock Holmes. So, I just wanted to try and differ from that. X Files is another quality comparison but it is more Sci fi based. That's a fantastic show though. You're definitely right on your breakdown. I hope you still found the video enjoyable :)
Also like X Files it was mostly filmed in British Columbia while pretending to be somewhere no one could mistake for BC.
I started watching this show back when I was in middle school, and still regularly watch it to this day. Me and my whole family enjoy it so much. It really has been a staple in growing up for me.

You're welcome :)
Why am I like this? Gah 1:22 Sean hadn't solved any murders by the first episode, but he had phoned in a bunch of tips for the reward money. Carlton thought his information was too good so he suspected him of being a partner with a store owner who robbed his own store. Because Sean had phoned in the tip that lead to the store owners capture. Sean said he was psychic so he didn't have to run the risk of going to jail. He put on a good enough act of cold reading to convince everybody but Carlton and acting chief Karen that he was psychic. Karen offered him a consulting gig. But said if she could ever prove he wasn't psychic she'd charge him with fraud and interfering with a police investigation so he had to keep up the act, or risk going to jail.
Thanks for the correction. A minor mess up but I definitely appreciate the clarification. You'd think I'd know better with how many rewatches of the show, right?

I’ve grown up watching this show. I still go back and rewatch episodes because they are just so easy to get into!
You and me both. I hope my review did it justice and you stick around to support me! :)
Bro..... this video legit made me tear up... I've been watching this show since it first aired on USA, and I have always said it is my FAVORITE show! Thanks for making this lmao
Katie. You're so welcome. The show means a lot to me as well. I hope you enjoy and hope you go binge some episodes for me. :)
This is such a good show. I’ve watched the entire series 3 times and bought all the dvds when they took it off Netflix. Planning on rewatching it again soon
My parents raised me well. I’ve grown up watching psych, monk, and burn notice. References from all three always make it into daily conversations in my household. These shows hold a special place in my heart and I still love watching them to this day.
Really well put. Im gonna share this 🙂
Very good video. Couldn't agree more. I've watched Psych over 4 times through. It's so good!
Caleb, thanks so much for the kind compliment. I hope you stick around, support more of my content and subscribe! :)
I never considered that it's closely related to Scooby Doo in feel but you're SO right. Great video really highlighting so many of my favourite things about Psych! I think it's time for a rewatch before the second movie and this video definitely spurred me into it :)
