  • Heritage railway news in the south east is a series bringing you all the updates from heritage railways, mainline movements and galas here in the south east of England.
    Episode 2 highlights the N class, the unique 9" gauge locomotive returning to steam very soon at the faversham miniature railway. Cheltenham leaving the watercress line after 10 years of service for the national railway museum and 35028 clan line heading to Kent tomorrow for a tour around the lines of Kent towards dover.     Good update however Cheltenham is a V Class (aka Schools Class) rather than a U Class as per your commentary. She’s one of 3 preserved (Stowe and Repton are the other two). As for the U Class… 4 survivors and one currently in steam - these are at the. Bluebell and Swanage (2 locos at each).

      @@Thecheekyengine haha don’t worry it’s easily done! In fairness they are both Maunsell designs! I was rather fond of Cheltenham with the MHR being my local line - many good rides behind her, she will be sorely missed.
