    Mel was a family friend and was always fabulous to me growing up. Whenever he appeared in NY we would go to see him perform. Between sets he came over to our table, sat down and relaxed with us. I miss him.

    So lucky to have seen Mel Tormé and Leslie Uggams at Rockford Park, Wilmington, Delaware in the late 1980's for a 4th of July concert!

      Mel was one of the absurd topppers. He was one of the ever greatest. Glad I learned to know him young, for me: around 74....Muziek Mozaïek van Willem Duys NL.

    Does anyone know anything about this sport coat Mel is wearing here? The insignia? It looks like the same coat he wears on the Monterey Jazz Fest concert. I have always been curious about this coat for years.

      As you might have noticed this is the entire concert now including the encore. Thank you Erik Mak for your comment. It is also re-edited. We will publish more edited concerts in the weeks to come. And in some cases two entire concerts if and when they were recorded the same day such as is the case with Rosemary Clooney and (soon!) James Brown!

    If you done it in the style of Take the A Train that might have made a little more sense as a downbeat moody type of song I'm referring to his version of send in the clowns

  • @bruceluber5178
    @bruceluber5178 Před 3 lety

    That version of send in the clown sounded like a Saturday Night Live parody that is supposed to be a deep and depressing song not a happy puppy song about clowns
