My dogs LOVED this enrichment stairs activity! Please make sure to read my note at the beginning of this video which includes some do's and don'ts with certain dogs playing this game. You can alter this activity by making it a flat game, just tossing the treat across the room, so your dog isn't jumping or experiencing any high impact. I do this frequently with my dogs!

Living in an apartment and I’ve done this game so much 😂. Super nice for cold nights or lazy evenings!

My lab has just mastered the stairs since we've never lived anywhere with them before. She races up and carefully picks her way back down. I need to put carpet on them, tho because they're a bit slippery.

That’s awesome!! I bet she will love this game then! Carpet might be a good idea if she slips on them though, this game will cause her to move pretty quick!

I do the stairs too! Especially with my young fosters that aren't afraid of stairs. I hadn't thought about the calm activity afterwards though, that's a great tip for me because sometimes I go crazy trying to keep the fosters busy and out of everyone else's stuff.

Yes! Most young dogs need our help with teaching them to calm back down again after we amp them up! Chews can help!

Loved this! Definitely need ideas like this as I have 2 high energy dogs and chronic health and pain issues. Why do I have 2 high energy dogs with my issues? Life happens, and saying no to animals that need help isn’t something I’m ok with lol. Now they are thoroughly bonded, so I do my best for them, and they always get lots of attention daily as I’m unable to work. We’ve got summer covered as they both (now) love the pool and we swim/play daily, but new ideas and variations for the rest of the year when I have pain flare up are so appreciated! The chews look enticing-how long did it take Wrigley and Fen to finish them?

I’m so glad it’s helpful! I definitely can sympathize with not being able to say no to animals haha, I’m the same way.
The chews aren’t super long lasting. Fen takes much longer on his, he probably finished it within 5 minutes, Wrigley took maybe 45 seconds? I wouldn’t recommend them as a long lasting chew, but Fen gets bored of chews easily so this was a nice way to mix it up! They also have some bully stick type chews that might be worth looking into as a long term option!

Love this idea but can’t do it since I have loop hole carpet on my stairs 😭😭

Will this reinforce them to go upstairs? Our dogs love going upstairs, but my parents don’t allow them to do so.

Yes, because we are pairing food with it and encouraging them to go up, it likely would encourage them to go upstairs!
