  • In this Dodge Dakota Front Suspension Control Arm Bushing Replacement video we are upgrading the factory worn rubber bushings and replacing them with polyurethane control arm bushings to rebuild this old pickup truck and get it riding like new. The old bushings are dry rotted and needed to be replaced so we removed them and put in this Energy Suspension Polyurethane bushing kit on the front end of this Dodge pickup truck.

    You didn't actually show the arm being removed, or put back in.
    Ive got the nuts off and the bar is still seized against the mount at the frame. Solid as a rock. Id love to see how it's done.

    @joeshumo9457 Před rokem

    Ive noticed that the caster isn’t really adjustable because in order to get to 0 degrees camber you are already all the way in on the Dakota. There is no negative camber available unless you lengthen the slots towards the engine and on the passenger side that’s not really possible. So all the way in with the suspension weighted and level at 0 degrees camber is where I set them . Unless someone knows something I don’t.
    Sure would like to get some adjustable upper arms that allow for more negative camber without having to cut and shorten the upper arms.

    Great video, a couple things I would have done differently. Do not tighten any of those bolts until you have the suspension on the ground or use your floor jack to put weight on the suspension. I had an old timer years ago show me, when you’re pressing in bushings or bearings put them in the freezer overnight and they will slide right in. With polyurethane bushings always use silicone paste instead of petroleum-based grease. It will not dry out ever and it will not degrade the bushing over its lifetime.

    I’ve changed those exact bushings before on a 2wd Dakota, what I did was loosen the nut on the bar on each side to where the nut it flush with the stud on the bar, took my 4 pound hammer and gave it a good whack, and the other side fell right out.

I just want to mention that that's _the easiest way._ I froze mine in the freezer and thought I could slip the tube inside the bushing and the push the bushing in. Nope. That _does not work._ Your way is super easy.
