  • We are the Data Dudes. 2 data enthusiasts who make timeline and time-series videos.
    In this video we have made a time-lapse review of every single Formula 1 championship point awarded to constructors from GP 65 - ARGENTINA 1958 until GP 1079 - ABU DHABI 2022 (the most recent GP at the time of creation).
    Why do we start at GP 65, and not GP 1? The constructors championship was first introduced in 1958, some 8 years after the first ever grand prix.
    We hope you like the video. If you do, please make sure to like and subscribe for more F1 time series videos!

    Interesting to see that Lotus was ahead of Ferrari in points until late 1979!

    would be more accurate if you do either the 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1, the 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 or the 10-6-5-4-3-2-1 point system for every year but anyways good video

      using the same points system would not solve it either, since we have alot more races per year now than we had in the past. So I think you just have to live with it

    Amazing to see the rise of Mercedes and Red Bull at the end.

    No surprise that Ferrari finished top as they are the only team to have competed throughout the history of F1.
    However it would be interesting to see what the numbers are for other teams if they are totalled over a team's entire history in F1, not resetting for a change of ownership/name.
    For example, Tyrrell>BAR>Honda>Brawn> Mercedes were all the same team, just under different ownerships. (However Jordan/Force India are a different team to Racing Point/Aston Martin. Racing Point bought the assets of FI and re-employed their staff when FI went into administration, but were a new entry into Formula One).
    (Note too that the 1950s Mercedes team that Moss and Fangio drove for is not the same as the current Mercedes team)

      Isn’t Jordan-Midland-Spyker-FI-Racing Point-Aston Martin a simple progress of rebranding?
      PS: the same thing could be said about Alfa Romeo: the 1950s team, the 80s team and the Sauber-rebranded ateam are different teams

    • @RJSRdg
      @RJSRdg Před rokem +1

      @@untizioacaso1300 No, because of the way the financial administration rules work, when Force India went into administration, it was no longer allowed to compete in F1. Racing Point bought the assets of FI and took on their staff and drivers, but had to register with F1 as a new entry, being allowed to enter mid-season owing to the exceptional circumstances. FI's Constructor Championship points for that season were not carried forwards to RP, who started again from 0.

      Approaching the 2018 Belgian Grand Prix, the situation regarding the team's ability to compete remained unsure, as in order to buy the shares in the team, the consortium needed agreement with the creditors of the parent company - including 13 banks which held a freezing order over the assets of the parent. Agreement could not be reached in time, so the consortium was unable to buy the shares, and was limited to purchasing only the assets of the team. The team then had to participate in the F1 Championship under a new name, thus the adding of "Racing Point" to the team's name. The FIA excluded the former Force India entry from the championship "due to its inability to complete the season", and welcomed the new legal entity, Racing Point Force India F1 Team, that was allowed to race, but not to keep any points of the old team. This signaled the end of the constructor that had been founded for the 2008 season. (Wikipedia)

      @@RJSRdgthere may be a break in the chain from entry of Force India and Racing Point, but the other lines were "rebranding" when the team was sold.
      What about Torro Rosso who rebranded to Alpha Tauri - they are definitely the same team.

    Sure wish you had included Alfa Romeo as they were unbeatable back in the 1950s-70s. Most people don't know of their history thinking Ferrari is so great!

  • @cigmorfil4101
    @cigmorfil4101 Před rokem +3

    Two thoughts:
    Should teams that "rebrand" or are sold complete with racing entry be considered a single team (eg Torro Rosso _became_ Alpha Tauri); and what about Force India being fire sold to become Racing Point?
    Divide the points by years in F1 to give the average season points.

      McLaren will always be second... Or at least it will be for other 20 years. Red Bull and Mercs boost was due to the point system changing. If we had the same point system in the '80s and '90s, McLaren will have a lot of points more than both Mercs and Rb's, which would fight for third with Williams.
      Ps: Honestly, I want Lotus and Renault back in F1. They are a huge part of the history of the sport. Hope it happens someday

    Team Finland has scored most points - if calculated per capita.
    Last 42 years, that has had Finnish drivers, 237 podium places in around 800 races.
    That is average of 1 podium place in every 3 races.
    So, most successful team is Team Finland, and it would win the competition with podium places alone..

    This is rediculous as the point systems have changed over the years and th3 number of races have changed over the years. Teams today have more oppertunity to score points as there are more races. In the beginning there were alot of non point races being held. At one time you could score points winning the Indy 500. Theres no way to compare point totals over the entire F1 history.
