protons are located inside the nucleus of an atom and cannot move freely in the way that electrons can. However, in the context of acid-base reactions, protons are not transferred as individual particles, but rather as part of a molecule or ion.

Sir, why does the proton attacks only on the lone pair of O and not that of Cl?
because oxygen is more electronegative than chlorine ...... thus its lone pair will have more attraction tendency as compared to chlorine........... infact if oxygen atom wouldnt be more electronegative then the reaction wouldnt even proceed...
