The name says it all, it's like this model was designed for people who are into pistols, rifles and knives. Super tactical, those red holes on the bezel and the red pusher, it's like they scream DANGER, DANGER!

It's an old video but I tend to agree: there are more expensive G-shocks out there, but TVA strikes a sweetspot in terms of price, function and fanciness. It's also way stealthy compared to others like TVB and MRG
I sold my MTG a few months ago thinking of going out of gshock world, but here i am again, thanks to your video, i had many sleepless nights kept thinking of this TVA and today I finally bought it, very pleased with it and hope to wear it for many and many years to come. I really enjoyed your video. My feelings were the same as yours coming from a small collection of luxury mechanical watches. This g-shock model is definitely staying in my collection. On another note. I recently hit my watch against my car door. The bezel had a white mark on it. On a closer look it was actually paint. I peeled it off the bezel. No damage whatsoever. Impressive in my opinion. If that was the speedy with hesalite I would have been doomed. So far no marks noted anywhere. Hopefully you update on a longterm review. Awesome work

I was hesitant to get this because of scratches, but, your observation that wear would be in keeping with the overall look of the watch convinced me.
I absolutely love mine. I also agree about the negative display. It doesn’t show up well in low light situations and I found myself over using the light to tell the time, as a result it drained the battery. The regular display is much better for every day use.

New here. Love it. Have it. It is definitely a favorite in the square collection. The positive display suits the watch, like the Rose Gold or the OG Titanium which I have as well. I dig the gold, have that one too. One cannot simply have just one square, lol. Great review.

It’s hard to have only one favorite Square - even narrowing down favorite titanium screwbacks is hard - I like this one for reasons that I don’t like the glossy black MR-G-B5000. The design is perfect, even if the exposed resin will be a gunk magnet. Astute point about the positive STN display - it really does balance it and the cool blue is soothing - same thing I like about the GMW-B5000TB1.
yeah i like the mr g too though. I'm a fan so i'm always going to find something i like about a g shock model
Wow, they haven’t change the design of that in forever. I had one that was all rubber I guess. Looked pretty much just like The one you’re showing, In high school, 1989.. loved it so much I bought the same one many years later, Again.

When I saw the price of the previous Titanium versions I thought it was too much money for a G Shock because I didn't like the designs or the colors, it didn't make sense to me. When this version came out I didn't hesitate for a second to get it and now that I have it I understand everything. It is a spectacular watch that weighs nothing and the details are superb. I am very happy with it.

I love g shock, i have a Rolex, breitling and a tag but g shock is right up at the top of my favorite watches. Just bought a metal g shock square and been using as my daily. Absolutely love it.

haha yep. that was the first thing i said. along with "no" and "that's stupid, no way worth it" .... but then.... i couldn't stop thinking about it. then i saw the price increase over the pre-order stages... then i learned about gshocks limited watches. and how they NEVER are remade. so i was like... ok... maybe.... then i just couldn't stop thinking about it. ... so i bough it!
I literally picked up a black bay two weeks ago and now i wish I had got this!
The DLC holds up really well. I've had my B5000TB for three years and the clasp and bracelet show hardly any wear at all. It will get scratched by gritty surfaces like concrete or sandpaper but withstands all the desk diving rash and dings.

I traditionally trashed expensive metal squares....but it is the first watch I paid more than I was comfortable with because it's SO DARN COOL. Early reports suggest patina will develop extremely well and tastefully when worn a bit.
I agree. If it gets dings, it will be a blow to the heart but after it settles, it will look pretty awesome and add to it
I bought the TVB and a few of the other Titanium GMWB5000 models like the Stealth Wealth and the Blue Camo (a lot of laser etching considering of various sized circles). These are the only watches I wear on the bracelet- the titanium is really light but it neither looks nor feels cheap. The finishing, the crisp STN display, the snap of the clasp. I already loved the Square so I’m biased. Great vid!

Ran on to this watch from watching (sorry) another channel re: GMT watches so have viewed multiple "raves" about it. Yours is thoughtful and avoids hype, which is great. But most of all I was so amazed at the subtle touch, virtually hidden in your video, that advocates doing the right thing by cutting apart the enclosed loops that hold bottles or cans together in order to protect birds and other wildlife in refuse facilities. Great video! Quality footage and very pleasant to listen to as well! The bad thing about sapphire however is that it does crack or rather can crack from impact, it’s shielded well though. It will be interesting to see how these will take a beating. IP-bezel indicates the bezel will show wears a lot more than the hard DLC coating. Eagerly awaiting mine so thanks for the vid!
well sapphire has a higher threshold to cracking than say hesalite, but hesalite cracks in larger pieces. so as a gshock, you're better off with a sapphire.
@@jeffreybuoncristiano Casio doesn’t use hesalite/plexi on the other watches, they use mineral glass. And mineral glass is less prone to cracks than sapphire.

great vid, shows your authentic apretiation and love. I have myself the virtual armor sister, and I wouldnt love her as much, if it wasnt for the inverted black display. Im a big fan of negative displays, specially on this price range, as they use the premium version with no readibility compromised. A stunner either way :)

Nah... I've got the MRG-B5000B and there's a lot of difference.
MRG case is made up of 25 seperate parts, all DLC Coated then Zaratsu Polished. Plus a unique leaf spring shock system.
The circuit board unit is Gold Plated, and protected by a Cobarion Cage.
Each link in the bracelet has three seperate parts, all DAT55 Titanium and Zaratsu polished.
The clasp has a locking system on it, with MRG insignia in Gold Colour.
The structure of the MRG watch is completely different, but just looks the same.

I do think it’s great, I just think the screen can be a little more modern. It’s always the same, maybe something “new” negative would have been incredible on this one. Just my opinion

Looks awesome but i will stick with my GMW-B5000D-1. Love the shiny metal and the price point. Also i like the hefty weight of it,.. very solid feeling.
I prefer the design of Casio's vintage watches over G-Shock, sp I wish Casio will make a high end A168 style vintage watch, with titanium casing, sappire glass, strong solar and waveceptor.
This is my all time favourite release from Casio. I just wished the price wasn't so high haha. Btw that WE Snecx looks amazing!

I just bought this watch, just a bit nervous that it may be too small, i have a 8.5" wrist, i'm a big guy so most of my auto's are Breitling, Hublot, Omega and all are 45mm...

There is no argument that it's a cool looking watch and I might even consider getting one sometime at a bargain price if I'm in the right mood but best of things always come in plain form imo.
Same thing with us humans that's why God created us without any sketches and drawings on our bodies and I think it's perfection. Thinking about it know I feel like this square is the tattooed brother and the scarred one of the crowd!

A great video and I agree on the one. I have neat mechanical watches, but this one is such a great execution of an iconic design. I was seriously tempted, but dithered too long and they were gone. Though I am liking the new TVB that's just come out and tempted.Interestingly that has the inverted display, but in that application, works well with the colour palette.

If only it came with a negative display - no need to even think. But because of its very ubiquitous dial, the TVB geometric camo option which is a total stunner just seems like the more unique option that will be so hard not to enjoy looking at over the decades.
i did a composite in this video showing and revealing why the negative display would be worse.
That could be understandable, but it's just so much more handsome that way.

I’m a 40 something as well. It’s appealing in a mature and childish way.
i was recently replying with : I still wear it! I will say a black watch isn't as exciting as a steel watch however, so a lot of times i don't grab it, not because it's less than, but because it's black. that's just preference, i've kinda moved away from black clothing. As far as maturity and all that, I'd say if you're on the fence about it, it's kinda pricey for not being fully committed to it. I think you'd know for sure if you wanted it. I still wear my daytona nearly everyday over this. but that doesn't mean i don't still grab this at least once a week.

I have a titanium tissot P100. It cost £300, that's just a £100 premium over the stainless steel version. I like the G shock, but that is an unjustified premium .
I would suggest looking into marketing and pricing for products to understand this. In the world of business, products are worth more than the sum of their parts. that's why a gold gshock is only $500 but a gold Patek Philippe is $300,000. or an amazon basics hoody is $30 but a Versace is $300. Tissot is a great brand, and that quartz watch cant even compare to their automatic lines. There is no heritage in their quartz lines. And it's quartz for a non-digi display.
With G-Shock, there is. and the community demands it and respects it. EVEN if it is usually sold as a cheap quartz digital movement.
However, i know what you're saying, and i don't think that you are wrong that it has the sticker shock, but the prices of things are set to what people are willing to pay. and this watch is pretty much sold out, showing that it IS priced fairly. I do pretty well financially for my self, so to me this wasn't THAT expensive imo, as a designer, i'm paying for the design. it's one of a kind and that is where the value lives for me. the fact it's made of titanium or whatever part a person wants to hyper focus on, isn't undertstanding of how pricing and anchoring or marketing works. again, things in life are worth more than the sum of it's parts, and priced on the price people are willing to pay.
Does this watch fir YOUR budget? i guess not, even if it did you can't justify it. i respect that and understand your point, i'm writing this long response, 1. because i'm relaxed and a bit bored at the moment. 2. maybe it could help show that there is ANOTHER way to see things instead of trying to knock them down.

Question: about cleaning. How would you clean the red area if it got sand, dirt, mud, etc. Do you require some kind of tool to get into those small areas or just? I am very much curious.
i just wash it in the sink with soap and water, that seems to take care of it

I just bought my 23rd G-SHOCK and my 10th DW square my DW5600RB-3 and I wish I could have this one but it’s too expensive the most expensive ones I bought where the GGB-100s one in Burton colab and a normal green and orange

I like the look of the watch but that exposed red cushioning really bugs me. the dust that will inevitably collects in that little crevice and water will get in there too. being exposed to the element will degrade that cushioning faster as well.
visible red cushioning is one of my favorite parts. but i hear you, every good watch has at least one element of controversy.
Dust? if anything gets in there, simply run it under the sink. the thing's basically indestructible. a little soap and water washes it out in a fraction of second.
that's not how how cushioning degrades. and even if uv rays do degrade, the visible cushioning is only about 5% of the total cushioning. and that wouldn't even come close to affecting a major blow to it.
No need to justify your dislike for it with incorrect reasons. just say you don't like it. that's totally cool. you're very welcome to think it's over priced, and stupid. i don't mind opinions that are opposite to mine.

The cushion is made of resin and therefore it's susceptible to UV that will fade the red colour and dry out the plastic. So Casio made this watch out of a very strong titanium and coat it with DLC but made a hole just to show the red resin. Did they hire the Death Star's designer by any chance?
I'm not sure why you even bring the price into it, unless you're trying to say I can't afford it so those are just my excuse not to get it. lol

that's an option. but just like all fake/replica watches, They may look the same, share the same or even better parts sometimes, when you put them on, you always know that it's not really the real thing. for me, i'd rather a cheaper watch that is the real thing, than a fake of an expensive watch. When you're talking about the mod, I've seen the bracelet, and it's not the same. the material isn't the same and it's not treated the same. just has a "feel" of it.
