I'm from SE Iowa and seen him one time at Walmart with his son. As a long time UFC fan, I recognized him right away. He was walking with a limp due to his bad knees. I didn't walk up to him and act like a little fan obsessed girl, I simply walked by, smiled and nodded at him as if to say hey, I know who you are, he caught it, smiled and nodded back. I didn't want to interrupt his time with his son and make a scene for other people to join. The smile and nod was good enough. Good luck on your endeavors Mr Sylvia and thank you for all those slobber knockers that you put on for us fans!

Hey I'm from Albuquerque, NM and ran into Jon Jones too one night. I was out side smoking my last bowl and he said hey kid let me hit that. Before I knew it I was staring at the GOAT who kept walking and pocketed my favorite one hitter. Never thought I'd see Jon Jones outside my own dealer's house. Looked like several celebs were in the Bentley too, but I couldn't get a good look since Ronda Rousey was passenger side and wouldn't move her head as they sped off. You just never know who you're going see and where right? Reminds me of that time I met Joe Biden long before he was president in the back of a local laptop store too.

@@UroborosX1 although I really don't doubt that you met Joe Biden trying to get Hunter's laptop back. The reason I said that I'm from SE Iowa is bc that is where he lives now and we have very very few celebrity encounters here. Carlton from Fresh Prince frequents here since his inlaws live down the road about 6 miles. I just wanted to point out that I met him by chance and he seemed like a good dude but no matter who he is, he doesn't deserve to be hounded by some nobody(me) just because he's famous, or was at one time. Now he's just an average Joe working a 9-5 and making ends meet!

Nothing against Tim but they brought Randy up to fight for the title after being KO'd by Chuck that's the problem and history of the HW division in the 2000's. All the talent was in Japan, they had 3 or 4 top guys but we saw how those top guys went when Arlovski and Tim himself fought Fedor, what was it about 3 or 4 minutes to finish both off. Christ Tim got his first title shot on a one-fight win streak LOL.
Anyway, I know Tim's had some down periods in his life, so good to see him doing well for himself.
On a side note, I didn't realise he thought Arlovski again in 2012 for the ONE Fighting Championship, ended in an NC, after Arlovski kicked him in the head and Tim couldn't continue.

He seems a nice guy and I never really had any problem with him it was more the division for me, it was crap, they had about 3 or 4 good fighters or so. They had to bring Randy up from losing his title shot at LHW to fight at HW to win that belt, he didn't deserve a title shot, just like Tim didn't. He beat Wes sims after a loss to get his first shot at a title against Arlovski. He only won 2 for his second shot. The fact is they used to hand out title shots on guys on losing streaks or at least loses at HW. The UFC HW division in the 2000s was a joke tbh. I'd actually forgotten how easy it was to get an HW title shot until he just went through his fights. They just weren't earned.

Like I mention how do you earn respect after one win against Wes sims and get given a title shot, the fans aren't gonna warm to you and fans were a lot less vicious back then. Also, he lost the belt a few times, so no he didn't beat the people he needed to beat for the belt.
The one thing I do have a problem with since you've posted, he talked shit about Bisping when he got inducted into the hall of fame, saying he doesn't deserve it, you mean the guy that held most UFC wins, most MW wins, and won the belt with one eye, that guy, No that's exactly the guy that should be in the hall of fame, with his fake eye, false knee, and hip, all for the enjoyment of fight fans, made me think less of him when he said it. Paul Clancy unsurprising. Guy won the belt in a time where the fighters were hardly paid peanuts, and then his decline started as the sport was coming out the dark ages. There wouldn’t be much to retire on.
