Genuinely enjoy this kind of content. See, our old gpus can still serve and should not always be ditched ^^ Could be great for friends or a kid who wants to play pc games casually. My father used to do that for us, when we were children, he would build the bedroom's pc out of his old components and we could play games for years comfortably :)
Now the 7850 can deliver a quite stable performance especially with a frame cap on heavy games. Good little piece of hardware.
I'm currently running with a 1050ti (4gb) which works well too :)
I ran my Twin Frozr II for years (basically came stock at the same "overclock" as this. 30fps stable is still worlds better than integrated GPUs:
This card despite its age is still a solid 30-40% faster than a GT 1030, and 100% faster than the fastest IGP out there.

Note that the person testing is doing it wrong in a few cases as the card is crippled by FSAA and Complex lighting ( DX11 bloom effects ) due to only 2GB of ram. Turn those off and you should be at 50-60fps in most games at 1080p with the other settings dropped down. You see this in the GTA 5 example here. 100+ fps with the lighting and AA turned down but at a higher resolution. :)

Thanks for the video! i still have my old one laying around, and with those GPU prices out there, i was thinking about using it for a little while and put togheter a pc for my girlfriend to play some fortnite and stuff, and upgrade it later down the road. Still doing good after all these years, wasnt a cheap card back in the days :)

@@ZGI yepp hopefully it doesn’t stay like this for to long. In the meantime my old 7950 should do okey with a i5 8400 for her, untill i upgrade my rx 570 then that should work good with that build 😃
I bought 3 XFX 7850's 10 years ago for $750...all three still going strong and two of them LC'd with H55's and G10 brackets and they play all of the best titles still...there are many better cards available today but this is still paying back after a decade and I have beat the shit out of these cards...I have multi-panelled these, Crossfire'd them...they are especially amazing mated with the rare B350-i and a 1700 with 3600 RAM....200w playing most title with one card and 290-330w Crossfire. The fan cooled one runs at 57-64C with a delta of 20 and the liquid cooled ones run at 45-50C delta 20....idle 32C

Make sure to go for the 2gb version. If you can get a 7950 3gb or a 7870 4gb you will be much happier though.

@@baranbasaran3468 Dude, with a 300w PSU you shouldn't change anything. Just get a GT 1030 or buy a new PSU with 50 amps on the 12V rail.

I love using old parts, but the main reason why I am reluctant to do so is solely power consumption. You can clearly see why switchin to a smaller manufacturin technique broucht big advantages.
However, if power draw is no issue, it's a good way to go along with gaming!

Hey, thank you for testing. I was wondering what the performance difference of going down to 720p from 1080p in destiny 2 would be. You were getting 40-50 FPS on 1080p and I was hoping for 60+ on 720p? Is that realistic?
Yes. Usually going from 1080p to 720p is having more then 40% avg fps.
So dependable of the CPU as well, 65-75fps should be achieved easily.

If i may suggest, There are some xeons on aliexpress.com for Sub 28$ like the E3 1270 (which is essentially an i7 from that generation Sandy bridge architecture) an upgrade to the CPU, which will bring more to the table in terms of performance futurewise.

Yeah absolutely. It should perform admirably, on Jedi Fallen Order since it's a poorly optimized game, it should be playable but i presume on 900p resolution Medium details (around 40ish FPS).
If you have a Factory overclocked or you OC yourself HD 7850 you might achieve better framerate/details/resolution.
Overall it's a decent setup that one, it supports DX12 so it's good to go for a year or two

The performance difference is negligent. They perform almost the same. In some titles the 7850 others 260x.
In raw power hd 7850 is Abit better but 260x is newer hence it will probably have better drivers for future despite both of the graphics card having the same architecture.
Go for whichever one is cheaper.

I think the frequency is well shown on the MSI afterburner statistics. It's a small overclock nontheless. (+50,100)

Well its the same GPU essentially.
But it shouldn't be any better since quad cores of that era are worse in their Architecture then modern cpus.
One should Expect around 10%-15% performance decrease.

I'm afraid that cpu won't cut it. It won't use 99-100% of the gpu. It should be playable with occasional drops and stutters but it should be more then 30-40fps

When it comes to minecraft its better to benchmark it with a shader mod on since vanilla minecraft can run great even with a shitty gpu as long as you have a really good cpu.

Unfortunately the gameplay fluidity will be pretty abysmal in that case (if you start the game somehow). The GPU itself to start isn't enough to run the game.

HD 7850 is better in terms of raw performance, but GT 1030 has better support and is really not power hungry. WE would go with the HD 7850 if we don't care about electricity bills.
The 1030 is essentially IGP on a card with GDDR5 added. It's MEH. The 1050/1050ti is far superior.
How's beaming?
I had 7850 until end of 2019, played beamng with it, worked good for medium settings I think
Also it depends from map to map, some maps were able to play with high settings too
But beamng got updated since then so it could be worse or it could be better if the game is more optimised

This card cannot run GTA 4 with a good framerate but handles GTA 5 like a dream. How ironic.
GTA 4 had some rough optimizations going on. GTA V luckily fixed that. But according to many GTA 4 still has better graphics then it's successor.
@@ZGI GTA IV uses ugly postprocessing / color grading style of 2004-2008 that games like FEAR and Doom 3 popularized. Environment detail and polycount in GTA IV is absolutely terrible even for 2008. Cars look great though.
