We had them at my primary school. To me a low frequency alarm gives a higher sense of urgency than a normal one

It’s crazy how a dorm room where people sleep could use a low volume alarm. But then a school where everyone is a awake is blasting full volume

@@leoschneider3570 It would have to be a horn only to do that. Because it's two wire, coding it will also code the strobe so there is no option on the H/S model to do that. I have a L series version and there is code 4 (CO alarm) but no option for custom. The horn only version does have custom.
You'd think there would be a way to replace the disposable part in the heat detector to restore it to operation. But I suppose that would require being able to order one from the manufacturer (assuming they make that part and its available to purchase).

The fixed heat detectors work like sprinkler heads - at a threshold heat a fusible link (glass bulb or solder joint) deliberately fails and opens a circuit (sprinkler system or an electronic fire alarm circuit). Both are one time use. There's technically nothing stopping a sprinkler head from being rigged up as a fixed heat detector apart from regulations

Not always, it is a mechanical detector. Some don't. But mechanical fixed temp ones actually do pop off.

When you are trying to activate the rate of rise portion of a rate of rise and fixed heat detector it sets off without permanently activating if you go around the edge of the detector rather than the disk but it is still possible to set off the disk if it gets too hot. Nevertheless if it pops or not these tests are always the best

If you want to activate the ROR mechanism, you have to put the lighter around it and not on the disc.

What camera do you use?
To test the rate of rise, use a HAIRDRYER. Do not touch it with an open flame, that will activate the fixed.

There's a way around the risk of activation, push on the center of the disc, simple, I think NewAgeServerAlarm did this once?
