Gallatin nursing home now on trial after 2020 COVID outbreak resulted in deaths

Jury selection starts Monday in a wrongful death lawsuit against a Gallatin nursing home that stemmed from its response during the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

My late uncle also lived in this nursing home. He passed away from Covid just before the outbreak got public attention at the facility. Unfortunately, the nursing home failed to provide proper support and care for him, effectively allowing him to suffocate due to fluid accumulation in his lungs, so our family stepped in to take care of him. Adding insult to injury, they falsely classified his cause of death as pneumonia instead of Covid, which was inaccurate. Despite our family's numerous attempts to correct his cause of death to Covid, we were denied and ignored. This led to a 4-year-long struggle with his insurance claim and denial of COVID relief because the nursing home chose to misrepresent my uncle's cause of death as “pneumonia."
