For those who think this car is a joke ,i recommend test driving one - it might surprise you.

I coded my new i3s not a REX to how I wanted it...., turned on rear daytime running lights, door mirrors now fold/unfold when locking/unlocking, driving mode as I left it and not returning back to comfort, changed the annoying bongs to the Rolls Royce chimes. Plus many more cool things.

Old Euro-spec i3 Rex owners' trick: tie the "Hold State of Charge" toggle to one of the 8 function buttons. It transforms the experience. Long uphill coming up? Rex on. Downhill? Rex off and let the regen take care of it.

I pulled the trigger for a bmw i3 range extender... wish me luck!

You guys moved near a airport, planes fly by. It's not a big deal, you guys can stop apologizing for the planes. Congrats on the million

IMO, the range extender approach is the smartest, more flexibility, less cost, less weight than having enough batteries to fulfil all your needs. Wish more affordable cars used such a system.

After spending 400 plus in gas a week and researching many affordable EVs I got one last month and I love this bmw i3 Rex . I’m 480 6 foot 3 and it has SO MUCH ROOM and fast as HELL!

Now install a 10 gallon fuel tank and it's a cross country 'EV'

Glad you were able to code the car to European specs, instead of California specs. Makes the car much more useful and a cross country drive a bit less annoying.

It was 70 and then went down to 67 so you lost miles.😂

ALRIGHT TOMMY ... Coding your BMW i3 is worth every penny. Your gonna love having the access to turning on the Range Extender. Couple of the other coding setups I did was "folding the mirrors" when you lock the car and leaving the the "Back tail lights On" all the time so people will notice the i3 since it's so dang quite when your driving around. We love your videos you guys make, so informative and fun to watch - keep up the great work !!

Post a follow up video once you have put some miles on the i3 with the jailbreak.

I bought the same Gate piece and got a Jeep app & a 19.00 per vin license, and adjusted the speedometer and TPMS after upgrading tires and regearing. The shop wanted 150.00 to reprogram, and I still can alter other parameters without additional cost. Well worth the cost.

I knew that you could do all this but didn't realize it was that easy. I'd like to see a full range review on it now that you've changed the settings. Also I hear the lane assist is pretty good if you unlock it. I wonder if anyone is modding this car with a 5 or 10 gallon tank? I know it uses a pressurized system so it might be very hard but some day I bet someone does it.

I think you have to fill the tank to know the new max mileage

Hi! Thanks so much for sharing this video. We love our i3 but we live in the mountains when we would definitely love to beef it up on its electron capacity while we're climbing the hills...

My only concern would to brick the ECU. Scary stuff to play with it. Glad it worked.
