The striking improvements it makes to its completely rebuilt world are complemented by the subtle refinements of its characters’ performances, and while it isn’t retrofitted with every one of the sequel’s best changes, the upgrades to movement and AI make a welcome difference in an already outstanding game. Definitely not the first game, Resident Evil did that with Resident Evil Director's Cut on PS1 just over a year after original game came out and it was barely a remaster more like a rushed altered port and then a remake on Gamecube in 2002, 6 years after the original game released.

Thats exactly why. It would detract from their next game, which has been said to be just as big, if not bigger, than a normal TLOU game.
EXACTLY, one of the greatest multiplayers ever. And its a slap in the fans faces, since its full of cheaters and exploiters. We deserved it!

There are changes to combat. Mechanically, it will play a lot differently. Still not worth full price, but people seem to get that wrong. they've actually rebuilt the game with albeit minor changes to combat and gameplay.
Honestly looks amazing, but I’ll have to wait until it goes on sale for a cheaper price

How do you charge full price for a game we have already purchased? There are no significant gameplay changes and it doesn’t include the factions MP.
Who says that everyone purchased.? How many people started working or were born in the last 15 years? How many people owned a console comparing to today? It will sell.

A small detail naughty dog should have done was have you play, left behind during the main game where it takes place. It would have made it such a seamless story
They should have done a proper remake with expanded levels, backstories, more dialogue etc (kind of like a directors cut of movie releases) Yeah sure it may not have sit well with purists however at least it would’ve stand on its own… especially at the asking price

Aimed at peeps on PC (once it comes out there) and to tie into the HBO series, who have not played it before. But yes, for all others who have loved and played it before - wait to get it second hand.

Its still the same game thats also released for other platforms, if the arguement new for PC then why is console still the same price? Why is it even 70 dollars, that should be for newest triple AAA releases not remasters, remakes or re-releases years old, hell it doesn't even justify a 60 dollar price tag. 30 dollars is the optimal price for these types of things, with whats on offer it might honestly be less like 25 or 20.

We all know TLOU is a great game but remaking it again and sell it for 80 bucks should drop de verdict by 2 points or so.

what few people seem to realize is that this isn’t really for existing TLOU players - it’s in anticipation of the broader audience who’s going to want to get into the game after watching the HBO tv show. First time gamers

Objectively by definition it isn't a remake. It is objectively a remaster.

What happened to Fiedelty mode being 40 fps? Its locked at 30.
If you have a 4k 120 HR display it will go to roughly 40FPS or if you have a VRR display it will run at roughly 40FPS. Digital foundry covered it go check out their video

Honestly it’s a bit much at this point….all the remakes, remasters, reboots, Whatever you want to call it. Really, it’s like the gaming industry just…ran out of ideas.
Well it is increasingly difficult to make something original.
If they released a remake of factions I’d totally buy it. Kinda lazy for them to completely abandon factions (multiplayer that finds lobbies within seconds to this day).

Video games need to stop adding dust and dirt on lenses for effect. They do it for immersion but it immediately takes me out of it because now I’m thinking oh, they are tryna to emulate a camera lens which reminds me subconsciously that there’s a “camera” filming which, for immersion sake, there shouldn’t be a cameraman there. Even in real life, very rarely is dust or dirt visible even on a dirty lens. So idk why video games always do that.
TLOU series is one of the top 3 best videogame stories of all time. It deserves to be fully realized on the newest hardware.

This is not a remake. It’s the exact same game, exact same combat, exact same mechanics. Not worth the money
Whether you hate it or not, it is a remake bc all the assets are remade from the ground up, its not just an upres. And it's not like there aren't tweaks here and there to animation, movement, and AI. Remakes don't have to change things to the level that RE and FF7, there's such a thing purist remakes

I'm actually quite surprised that the original never had cheats. Naughty Dog made cheats a fun part of Jak & Daxer and the Uncharted series. Even some of the Crash Bandicoot games had secret unlockables/cheats. I'm glad this game is finally getting them.

How does it look and perform on PS4 slim
I'm in the camp of having played and adored the original, but not having played it since launch. So, for me, this is ideal for giving it a second run through. Though there are many aspects of the improved visuals that appeal to me, the adjustments to facial animations are really quite significant.
Looking forward to being sad all over again!

Remember back in the day when the base game came out full price, then the remaster comes out with the DLC Included for less than the original… where did that go? Or is it the Mandela effect happening before our very own eyes?

I'm pretty sad NaughtyDog did the minimum effort in what was expected from them, zero new dialogs or new combat mechanics or having infected and people at the same time like the sequel.
You said 'minimum effort' - go watch Digital Foundry's review. Naughty Dog did a huge, vast amount of work here. The enemy encounters are new because of the AI, it makes a huge difference I've found. And there are parts of the game with infected and npcs around at the same time, it's fun to throw a brick to make the infected attack the enemies.
