      Yeah well there's no way Bolger's Barnaby can seem QUITE as creepy as in the L&H version where the girl is like a little girl or something ... (I've never seen the Drew Barrymore version but I hear it's awful)

    I love that he seems genuinely surprised that she said no. He sounds like he's thinking "all that dancing and singing was for nothing? I thought I had you for sure!" Very funny! :) I can't wait to watch this on Hallmark Movie Channel.

    I'll never forget when I showed my friend Tara this movie several Christmases ago, I was at her house, and when we watched this number her mom came into the room, and right when Mary said no, Tara's mom was like, "You say no, after that great number?" ROFL

    I recently saw Annette and Ann Jillian at the CVS store in Sherman Oaks, CA. Felt so sorry for Annette in a wheelchair and one the other side of the store I bumped into Ann Jillian - neither knew the other w in the same store. They both looked GREAT!

      His portrayal is more in line with the traditional mellow drama villain of the early 20th Century. Think Snidley Whiplash as an example.

    I loved this when I was a kid, omg the dancing the singing, I watched it so much the VHS is totally fried... Yeah I have the VHS lol. God I still know all the words to all the songs.

    Between Barnaby and his killer moves (not to mention his ability to a) pussyfoot and b) lurk) and Grumio and his spectacular inventions and beautiful face, I will NEVER understand why Mary still insisted on marrying Tom when he LITERALLY sang to her face "you're just a toy". Like that talk is WAY more problematic than an old fella offering to literally give you a castle in Spain!!

    I think it's basically just a very ruffled and fluffy tulle petticoat like you can get from Hell Bunny, but with a lot more layers, no rigid parts at all.

    My mother told me that this whole dance routine was a metaphor for the "moves" he would have in the bedroom. She said any time a movie or song presents a man trying to impress or woo a woman with dance moves it's always a metaphor - which ultimately made this scene a lot yuckier for me when i'd see this movie. Kinda sucked that innocent Disney magic out of it lol
