  • 2 weeks of warm weather and rain on the way, I need to prepare the driveway for a big melt. The Kubota LX2610 compact tractor, LX2980 front mount snowblower and RB1672 rear blade have some work to do. In this first part, I'll get the parking area done. Then we will take it further up the 1.3 km driveway through the forest on the next episode. The heat is on the way! Cheers!

    Very disappointing winter up here on Little Glamor Lake just a stones throw from your place. This is the third winter for my L3301 and I have only had to blow out the driveway three times this year and I probably only needed to do it twice in reality. Mine is set up with a front loader and blower on the three point hitch with chains all around. The loader is pretty handy for getting into those tight spots and for clearing away all of the snow that has slid off the roof in the past day or two with this rain and snow mix mild weather that we have been having. Enjoy your videos and here is hoping for more snow!

    Good morning My Friend, very strange Winter so far. Up here in New York all the Snow is gone. Last week sub-zero Temps. Then it warmed up Rained and Snow is gone. Tomorrow some Snow coming in. About 2-4inches of Heavy Wet Snow. Then going into the 40's. Cutting some Wood today stocking up. Have a good Day, Stay Safe and enjoy one another in Helping out. As Luc said, it has been a weird winter. We too in Southern Maine have had snow rain cold temps then warm temps back to cold. The lawns are like mush. I'll take any kind of precipitation as the aquifers need replenishing. Thank for the video.

    How's she goin'? It's always a good plan to plow for the next snow. And even if it doesn't come there is less snow in your lane and landing now so it should melt away faster!! Who knows, maybe it will all melt and there won't even be any ice!! Wouldn't that be nice. Take care!!

    Hey Gord, I'm in Wyoming. Weird winter - that's an understatement. Next week, were going to hit 60°f or about 15.56°c middle of next week... We don't have any snow on the ground. But, we typically don't get snow until March...

    I put studded chains on the rear wheels but still find front wheels slide around sometimes in deep snow or icy conditions.
    We plow a 2.5 km long road into our lake house.
    What are your experiences/ thoughts on tire chains for front tires? Thx!

    Beautiful drive into the cabin Gordon. Yes weird winter for sure. We got about 4 inches before Christmas and it was almost gone with the rain. Then we got the polar vertex. We went from 26 and 34 degrees to-34 in 30 hours and stayed below 0 for 4 to 5 days. During that time we got about a 12 to 18 inches of snow. It has been raining off and on for the last 2 weeks and the snow is almost gone. Stay warm my friend

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Good day - that's a great question _ I can't remember the numbers but the year before last I did a study and recorded my hours per tank through the winter and then in the summer and released them on a video. I am getting old ( LOL) but I think it was around 15 hours per tank in the summer months and around 11 or 12 in the winter. I remember there was not a big difference - I am pretty sure that was it.

    GP, is your area pretty much Kubota country ❓Have you ever looked into John Deere ❓

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  Před 6 měsíci

      LOL! It is but I didn't get it for that reason. Honestly (and respectfully) I did tours at 2 Deere dealerships while narrowing down my decision and sadly, I think I just got sales people that perhaps were not the most customer friendly. So I turned my attention to Kubota, Kioti and Massey, and then finalized it from there. I am sure they are great machines as they have a good rep and history but the dealer relationship was an important factor to me in the sales decision. Cheers!

    GP, Are you using wheel spacers on your LX? What size?

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  Před 5 měsíci +1

      You bet - I needed to so I can use chains. They are Kubota OEM spacers - I believe they are 1 3/8" on each side - the maximum width Kubota recommends for the back axle. Cheers John!

    • @johnmagliocca3995
      @johnmagliocca3995 Před 5 měsíci

      @@GPOutdoors Thank you. That is what is going on my LX. They told me that non-Kubota spacers would void some of the warranty and the 1 3/8 spacers is all they offered.

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@johnmagliocca3995 Well, I am not very mechanical but neighbour Guy is pretty smart on these things and he told me that when I put wheel spacers on the rear axle, it causes some kind of strain on the axle and components ( I may have said that wrong but hopefully made sense) so when we discussed the after-market spacers available up to 3", he strongly suggested that if Kubota thought is was ok to extend the axle 6 inches , they would offer 3" spacers too - so I decided to stay in my warranty and get the OEM ones. Hope that helps. Good luck John!

    I have never noticed any bird feeders at the Cabin. Do you not feed them during the winter?
    Definitely and odd winter...I talked to a guy yesterday that said his solar panels have been averaging 1% the last 2 months. The only thing we have had less of besides snow this winter is sunlight and I need sunlight to function properly!🌞

    • @ToreDL87
      @ToreDL87 Před 6 měsíci

      Where I'm from, sunlight is far in between during winter, regular standard here is if you get solar panels hoping for great function in the winter, you've been misled.
