That is a lot of responsibility for 2 people to cover the whole city. Great job in covering this!
So for a Accident Investigation they will call in other safety members to assist.
That’s what I thought too. Be a busy unit
Another great one. Thanks Skyler.
Loving this series!! Excellent seeing how the equipment and units are used and packed and transported. Keep it up!!
More to come!

More to come!
Thank you love these fleet videos
Glad you like them! More to come!
Wow. They really rolled out the red carpet (OK, the red truck) for you! I did not know all the stuff that they called Safety Battalion out for, and boy is that truck kitted out. That's a full accident investigation setup any police department in the country would be proud to have. Thanks to you for this awesome video and the FDNY for the access.
Thanks so much for watching
Awesome job! I love learning about the different/special units. I know it probably seems boring, but as an engine guy myself I would love to see their engine setup. I've seen some videos, but none that go in depth like yours. Keep up the good work
Working on doing a Engine Company soon. They all vary with the amount of equipment and some carry more hose
Nicely done and thanks Skyler!
You bet!
Skyler, The FDNY survey unit alas Safety Battalion! I work with a surveyor for 16 years, full total station system. Alot more to it with marine and Hazmat equipment. Great walk around 👍 Have a good weekend!!!
Yes it is! Thanks for watching
Thanks for letting me know about this it was a excellent insight into what this vehicle is used for and the equipment that it carries.
Glad you now know about the Safety Battalion!
Great presentation. FDNY is the best.
Thanks 😊
Glad you liked it!
Wow what a job they have. FDNY great as always. Very interesting video. Thanks for sharing with us Skyler...🤗🤗

@@pamhofmeister2531 thanks
Thanks Skyler! You are givingbus tours that most of us will never get as we are so far away from NY. SO TY for letting US (your viewers) in on these spitucaular units? Whats next on the list Rescue Batalion? 😊
Love the fleet fridays. Keep them coming!

Truck carries it all, pretty cool to see some of these trucks up close and what they carry

Thank you very much!
Awesome! Thanks
No problem!
Loving fleet Fridays 👌🏻
Glad you like them!
Do not know of any other U.S.fire department that has a dedicated battalion for this purpose. Thanks for another excellent Fleet Friday, Skyler.
Boston FD. H-1, Safety Chief
Your welcome!
@aaronjohnson2843; Most major city departments have dedicated Safety Officers. They may not be actual chiefs( very senior officers), but they control all safety aspects, oversight and full safety authority on fire and other major incidents! I know a 35+ year veteran (Very senior) “Safety” officer in WA state(large city) and I believe the department has 3 “Safety” positions! FDNY just have had years to establish and perfect jobs titles, changes have obviously been made since “9/11”!!🇺🇸
Nice work I like this segment of fleet Fridays maybe you can try to do a Rescue 1 or Rescue 2 sometime that would be amazing thanks Skyler.
You will have to wait and see! :)
That sounds like a fun and interesting job within the FDNY
Big Job when it comes to safety
Thanks Tyler for the tour and thanks to FDNY Safety Battalion 1 for allowing Tyler to document your station.
Skyler* Thanks
Thats diamond plate on the walls is badass!
For sure!
I am really enjoying the Fleet Friday series. Thank you. Are there any dedicated RIT vehicles?
All Ladder Companies are assigned FAST Trucks

Thanks!

Very cool
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful truck, but fire the guy who designs the quarters for some of these pieces. Tight turn.
Nice truck
Thanks 👍
Love to know if that Light Bar is FDNY specific, been looking for a custom one like that cant seem to find the name or model number for it. Would love to know.
You mentioned the Marine Battalion is also there. Do they run out of a pick up as well or on a boat?
They run out of a Boat with 2 FFs and a BC… I have a short video coming soon on that.
Does the technician drive it? Also is you talking a voice over? I have kinda noticed it but haven’t been 100% sure yet.
Yes the Tech drives. No chiefs drive themself only staff chiefs driving from home. And yes
Talk about tight parking.
Yup!
I'm suprised they didn't hook up the multi-level light bar from McDermott Lihht and Signal to the FedSig controller like the NYPD highway units. They could have programmed the button to flash when they are up.
I believe it does.
@@SkylerFire There is a smaller whelen surface mount next to the riser button that I assume does, but what I mean is they could have connected the risers up to a button on the fedsig controller rather than using a different button like what the NYPD has done.
@@RedHat2023 ah ok
RIGHT HERE I LOVE ♥♥♥ F.D.N.Y. FIRE 🔥 🔥 🔥 BATTALION CHIEF 28 IN BUSHWICK BROOKLYN.
I've noticed that some of your rigs have phones in them , what are they used for ?
That’s how they talk on the radio in the rigs
I know this is a Fleet friday videos but would u be able to add a little peek of the bay vehicle stays in and Any other FDNY vehicles that next to the vehicle your recording as a little In sight of surrounding units.
The video of the bay is at the end.
@@SkylerFire haha 😂 ye i just noticed that as i kept watching the Video lmao 🤣
That just looks little a one garage/ metal shed we’re does the chief work out of (office)
@@JoexxPACMANxx warehouse
@@SkylerFire Are u aloud to do FH tours/ showcases
Im suprised they dont have 2 safety battalions staffed all the time.
Sadly was closed in 1998…
Hello, I am a firefighter in France and I am coming to New York in September of this year. I wanted to know if I could visit this barracks and if you have contacts to make an appointment please?
Sorry can’t help you with that
Is there a link to anything that explains how the total station works?
Search Total Station Accident scene on CZcams you will get a result. I couldn’t show anything due to all they have is accidents involving FDNY vehicles
Are the RAC units under the Safety Command?
Yes
I was expecting to see some heavy equipment like the Jaws of life and ropes and life jackets etc etc
It’s the Safety Battalion….
So Safety Battalion primarily conduct investigations? Strange that this responsibility is not allocated to Fire Marshals.
I believe Fire Marshals do work with them. Let me check on that
What unit is scheduled for next week?
You will have to wait and see :)
Could you try to get mileage on some of the rigs? I’m always curious about that
Everything would be under 100k no-more
@@SkylerFire interesting cool to know that thank you
are these the "old"EMS unit or new special build?
Yes the old PRUs I believe
@@SkylerFireWeren't the PRUs GMCs? Or did they use Chevy as well?
Where is the microphones for the radios
The phone.
Great trunk system. " OUT OF RANGE" showing on both. That's why I'm a fan of the old legacy. It's 2024 and the FDNY sticks with the voter system.
Ok
Is that the emergency rescue squard?
No…. It’s the Safety Battalion….
U would think that want the real axel daully’s with all that weight in the box
They have like 10 or so of these trucks they were suppose to be for EMS but COVID Came and they didn’t use them. So EMS Chiefs and a few went to FD.
what unit carries the drones?
Command Tactical
what rig does SB2 use?
Uses the old one which is just a regular Battalion Pick up with a cap on the bed. 2013 GMC.
Wow! Such a Cool unit! I love it! Thanks so much Skyler for review!
Does this unit handle arson investigations?
No
Are you on the FDNY ?
No
I like these can you do some NYPD maybe a regular squad car
Eh idk about that
What is a total station?
Total station surveys are a precise laser method of mapping accident scenes or vehicle damage profiles
Where are they housed
Brooklyn Navy Yard.
What is the deal the phone 📞 receiver
To talk on the radio
@@SkylerFire I have never seen that. The mics are common the headphones 🎧 are too thanks.
hi thanks think i suggested battalion vehicle 🎉
Soon
Lot of wasted space
How?
