Wood Turning/ Wood Carving an Ordinary Pine into a Piece of Art

This project was supposed to be a simple vase which became complicated after I encountered the wood sap issue. Initially a heart shape was engraved on same spot but I decided to remove it ( covered with a tape on some footage) and replaced it with a cracked pottery design. I tried wood burning which took forever and didn't look right either. In the end, I decided on a dark stain to create a contrast against the light color of the Pine. What do you think?
