I'll take Ralph's banjo over any modern professional's any day. That's just how a banjo should sound and none of that chromatic and melodic stuff. It just doesn't do it for me.
What made banjo and mountain music great and what makes everyone holler is a fast paced electric style and not a jazzy corny vibe IMO. Even in a slow instrumental, it's just not the same without the sparky sound of a gibson and the old time rolls here and there.
