After one of the most physically intense battles on a rugby field I have seen. The respect shown by both sides during and after the game to their opposition was truly amazing. I am proud to say that the game I played as a young man sets such a high standard in sportsmanship and honour. Rugby was the winner here. Well done, both teams. You were amazing, thank you.

Congratulations Ireland. Tough as a Springbok supporter, but it was a real test match and probably the most competitive match of the tournament so far. You saw the respect between the opposing players at the end. They all know how hard the other side work to get to this level. I'm an Irishman and delighted to win this match, I'm just on cloud nine to have such an excellent competitive team and it makes me incredibly proud we can go up against the best and win at least now and again. We're on a great run at the moment.
Fair play to the Springboks, their intensity is just unreal and I'm so happy we managed to weather it. If we meet NZ and you meet France I hope you go through, the final could be a repeat of this, which would just be an incredible event no matter how it turns out.

I am a South African born & raised and supporter of the bokke but I have to say kuddo's to Ireland they were a tough team to play against they deserve the win. I would love to see Ireland win the World Cup as much as I would love to see the bokke win it, greetings & congrats to all the Irish from South Africa🙂.

Thought the ref should have had a word with the Springboks about them closing the space to quickly in the line outs, looked to me like they had it planned on purpose.

Wtf is Fla on about?! We were the better team. They sent 7-1 at us and we won. Thought the ref was fair overall. Their kicking was shocking but our lineout was a disgrace first half. This is an historic victory. It's a massive achievement.

massive for us yes......but the 7-1 split did actually work as they got 4 penalties or more from it but as you stated....the kicking was their achilles heel and probably would have won.
the only other area of the game we dominated was the breakdown with 7 or more turnover penalties.......every team has a bad day at the office and this was theirs but really should not have lost......Springboks will be dangerous going forward with the opportuniy now to fix those issues going forward

As a Bok we faced the best team at the tournament and narrowly lost and even just converting one penalty would have added pressure. I feel we actually looked great especially when the bench arrived and I would have personally taken Malherbe off sooner. I reckon with the pressure we put Ireland under was converted into points it might have been a different game. Ireland disrupted our rucks brilliantly and we need to improve and that was the only area I felt we lost. I really hope both teams make it thru to the final, big clashes for us, wish we had NZ rather than France.

Speaking from a Springbok perspective, the Bomb squad was explosive when they came on , they did what was expected of them . Kicking for posts for the Springboks was horrible and can be corrected with Pollard coming in .

@roboconnor8079 Ireland lost line outs and conceded scrum penalties at a much higher rate , but I take nothing away from Ireland's win over the Springboks . Bomb squad performed explosively . For the upcoming Bok games , some improvements can be made and Pollard is the big decision.
@@saitamalowry6795 all the talk pre game was how this iteration of the bomb squad would evicerate the Irish pack and that didn’t happen, it’s clearly not worth the risk of your centre or flyhalf getting injured and having to shuffle your backline, by normal match standards they performed and you could argue they even performed well but given the job they needed to do with tiring backs behind them they utterly failed. Brilliant result. Yes SA missed a few penalties, we messed up possible trys due to poor line outs earlier on . Overall a fair result. The best team won.

As a rugby fan by far the most enjoyable game so far in the world cup, despite the low score. Incredible defence both sides and for once not ruined by officials, Ben O'Keeffe's rushed last call not withstanding.

@@andrewmarkmostert7061 When a maul collapses the ball can only be retrieved for further play if it is on the ground. In that last play, the ball was off the ground so therefore the movement was over and the ball is turned over.

Funny to see how emotionnal we can be at times. Obviously, it's been a huge tactical, intense and physical match, for sure, loved it. But still, first it was NOT a high level technical one, many errors from both sides and secondly, because of that intensity and hard win, everybody considers that one of these two teams will win the final. That's not written at all. NZ and France, even with the loss of AD, not to talk about England or others, haven't say their last word. So let's see what's gonna happens now. In any case, Rugby shall win!

Boks lost by 5, but 11 points were lost with missed kicks. Can see how this will become a big talking point for them as it cost them the game. Overall insanely good game between two super inform teams
6 of those points were kicks from SAs own half, and should never have been attempted. Realistically the missed kicks cost SA a tied game.
