CP + KCS gives one road tracks in Canada, US, and Mexico. Through CP there are Atlantic and Pacific ports. KCS has access to Chicago, KC, St. Louis, Birmingham, New Orleans port, the port of Port Arthur and the port of Corpus Christy, the ports of Tampico and Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico, Monterrey, Mexico City, and the port of Lazaro Cardenas on the Pacific.
Union pacific also has routes from Canada to Mexico, and I think BNSF also has some routes. the special thing about CP and KS merging is they go from I think the hot bed of Canada in Ontario all the way to Mexico city through St.Louis. Union Pacific and BNSF do this through subsidiaries in Mexico while CPKC can do it all in house.
CSX merged Pan Am Railways last year. So, Guilford which consisted of Springfield Terminal, Maine Central, Boston and Maine, and Portland Terminal are now part of CSX.
