I have wondered if the mother was speaking any Japanese to the kids. It would be fantastic if she was, but I always hear Violet speaking English!!
Yes Violet speaks Japanese. You don’t hear her because Cashie never records conversation between V and mum - privacy I guess. I think that’s good. I can understand Japanese so I have heard Kanami talking to V in Japanese

I had the opportunity to live in Japan for a year (for work) in 2006, and it was an experience I'd never have expected to love as much as I did. If any American has the opportunity to live in another country for a bit, it's absolutely worth it, just to get the perspective of how people live in other places and other cultures.
Japan is so clean, civilized, and cultured compared to the US right now... how a country SHOULD be. If I were Cash, I wouldn't come back

@@lorrie5881 Im here in America waking up each morning wondering if my catalytic converter will still be on my car. I was almost mugged a year ago. Tired of depressing stories on the news everyday of bomb threats and school shootings. I live close to two schools that were shot up. Looking forward to learning more about Japan and if possible to retire there.
I think that Cash has a little mini-me in the making with Eliza, right down to that beautiful red-blonde hair. She's sure attracting a lot of attention in Japan. The girls are lucky to be brought up in two cultures!

I love the contrast . Is a nice change for everyone to be out of a large city into a more relaxed, green , small town . That beach was so cool , just locals not a busy turist spot . These are such good memories for the kids .
Little Violet is all decked out in an Anne of Green Gables attire. Braids, hat, and dress. (For the uninitiated…the Japanese school system is (or was) enamoured with a children’s story out of Prince Edward Island , Canada where I live in a province next door to PEI )
