I'd have love to have seen what a full strength England would've done. But full credit to Spain, they're an incredible side.
Special shout to Mary Earps. I hope certain companies are having uncomfortable conversations, after seeing her be arguably England's best player this tournament.

Was hardly a full strength spain side lol most the team boycotted the event and didn't go so can say same about Spain team even without their whole team and all the problems they had going on behind the scenes they still went out and won the world cup as amazing as I think our lionesses are.. hats off to those Spanish women team that won incredible for them what they achieved.

Spain were on a different level of skill, pace and athleticism. They constantly played around and through England. 1-0 flattered England in the end.
At last, someone who has an identical analysis as me. I agree with you! Spain were pinging the ball around England from their own defensive position. Had Salma been more clinical, it could have been 3 or 4 nil.
Totally agree. I think the shape was a large part of the problem. Walsh and Stanway were so exposed. Toone, I didnt know she we playing before she was eventually pulled off and the wing backs, Bronze especially was playing high up but neither helping in midfield or covering their defensive channels.
For all the effort to press from the workhorses that were Hemp and Russo, it doesn't work if Spain can get the ball to their 10s then unto open wide channels from there so easily.
I feel sorry for the midfielders because they were chasing shadows and the biggest proudest moment of their careers... they could watch the game back with nkthing but dissapointment at their performances honestly. Outnumbered and technically dominated.
You do know that there were 3 crucial players missing from England's lineup. Fran Kirby, Leah Williamson and Beth Mead. Even with these players missing they got to a world cup final. England lose one game and EXPERTS are there to condemn them.
Spain won because of Lucy Bronze. Her mistake cost England the match. From that point onwards England for some reason lost all impetus. The tactics were wrong, and the half time substitutions were wrong.
Who was or wasn't there for England is irrelevant. My assessment was based on what did happen in the game not what may have happened had other players been there @@stephencrewes5773
Completely understand why everyone is talking about Mary Earps who's had a good tournament overall but you've got to give credit to 22 year old Spain goalkeeper Cata Coll who had never even played a senior international match for her country until two weeks ago.I can't think of any past goalkeeper,male or female who make their debut half way through a WC or any international tournament and ends it with holding the winning trophy,I thought her performance between the sticks was just as good as Mary's was in the final.You don't win 4 knock out games on the trot as Spain did,they'd never even won one in previous tournaments with a bad/mediocre goalie
Spain has beaten by England several times in the present of 3 key players Beth Mead, Williamson, Jill Scott. Spain studies the weakness of England team in terms of technicalities and aggressiveness. I thought, if giving a few minutes for Russo at 2nd half of the game with Lauren James inside make difference as make Spanish players divided their attention into two key players. England need prolific goal scorer in different angle...
Taking off your best striker when you’re 1-0 down is never a great idea, and so it proved to be. We had 1 shot on target in the 2nd half

Surely more investment would help the Women’s game. More in the way of tv rights and in playing other completions.
Spain were the better side against Japan. But look how that turned out. You can play beautiful football all day long. But a less skillful side can still turn you over if you can't score at the end of it.

@@oldgeezer7816 Carrager and Nevile would take the piss out of each other's opinions, they can't do that to Karen otherwise they would get cancelled, so all jokes and banter are now gone from the show and its just a boring vibe now, and they can't even challenge / disagree with any of her points, it's like they're scared to do it.
