      You should look into a Sequential turbos where you have a small turbo for the quick power then a larger one for the long run and extra power

      Enrique Guerra III. He already has plenty of bottom end with the stroker, turbo or centrifugal would be better top end and better on the rods and crank.

    Hey bro,
    I think you should go Supercharger all the way. I have a ProCharger on my 5.7L Hemi Charger R/T. Your channel influenced my build a lot. As much as I want to say turbos, the best thing about that blower is it’ll enable you to still drive your car on a day to day. My car drives completely stock unless I put my foot in it, which is nice because that whine is amazing. Only sitting at 7 pounds of boost with stock internals and a mean ass tune. With just ProCharger and Catback exhaust I’m pushing 500/493 on the Dyno, and those are on the lower end. Would love to consider meeting up with you someday so you can check out the build. I am still voting for a new Maggie 2650, you can go with the larger pulleys and keep it low boost to save your trans. You like cruising around and giving it a little goose every once in a while. The immediate response of the positive displacement blower is what you are after. You will run out of road by the time the turbos spool up and really start to make power.
    You should definitely consider upgrading the trans over time, I have the same kind of conundrum with my stock 5.7 and a magnuson 2300.
    I have been watching for a while and subbed today, good luck my friend! Can't wait for the results no matter what they are!

    Have you looked at the Edelbrock s/c kit? It's very complete and it's an easy install, relatively speaking. Also you should consider that there are a number of drivetrain related mods needed to SAFELY support 600+ hp, axles, drive shafts, differential braces, driveshaft loops etc. Building the transmission to withstand the torque isn't as daunting a task as you think. Some of the other things I've listed are more likely to be a problem. Good luck whichever way you chose, love the channel.

    If your goal is to break records at the drag strip then a turbo or turbos is the way to go but if your goal is a fun stupid fast street car then you can't beat the seat of the pants feel of a positive displacement supercharger. For the street turbo lag is no fun a positive displacement supercharger hits instantly and will give you gobs of power anywhere in the power band! Go with a Whipple or a Magnuson you won't regret it. If going twin turbo I wouldn't do a rear or mid mount personally I think those are lame. Go Hellion TT kit or gear head fab TT kit if going with twins but honestly in the long run the turbo setbup will be more money and more of a hassle imo

    • @RTLife

One turbo on each side of the transmission right under the engine coming right off of the headers or exhaust manifolds. Just like a fat house Fabrication TT GT350 kit mounts. The turbo or turbos mount in place of the mufflers and requires tons of oil return line running all the way to the back or middle of the car and then back to the engine not to mention how far back the turbos are from the exhaust manifolds/headers. I realized that most people don’t drive in the rpms high enough to appreciate the centrifugal supercharges. And for me to enough the boost with mine it attracts a lot of attention. I just bought a 2020 RT and I have been following your channel and love my RT. I do have a few questions because my RT is fully load and has the active exhaust and the only thing I might want to change is the headers. I am looking at the MOPAR scat pack performance packages which they only offer stage 2 and 3. I want to keep it naturally aspirated and forge the internals. Down the road I want to do the hellion TwinTurbo. I think I will go with the shorty headers only to keep my stock exhaust because I am happy with the sound of my active exhaust. • @RyanCDavid
    @RyanCDavid Před 3 lety

    Look into torqstorm superchargers if u haven't already. With the sts you will end up spending more than you think, its a lot of custom fab work. Plus you'll still be to piece together some things..a blow off valve, intercooler, plus fuel injector and possibly fuel pump upgrades, dyno tune. Im looking pretty hard at torqstorm right now for my magnum RT AWD.. seems like less labor costs without all the fab work. I'm not doing any of the install myself unless they want an arm and a leg to swap the injectors and fuel pump...im Still kinda thinking maybe ill do the fuel pump in a few months idk... trying to keep costs down.

    Hey R/TLife you get what you pay for. I matched your mods until the intake and you changed engine size no longer a R/T. The turbo on a hemi cooks the oil and makes the gas petal unpredictable. Stage 2 Whipple and a gas peddle that does what you ask it and just way more fun to drive. My 5.7 whippled stock block at 10 pounds boost running 100+ octane with Boostane OST Dyno tune over 530 hp with a M6 on 315's. You should see the look on the faces of all the people I have smoked light to light and for me thats what its all about. Im sorry but you going turbo reminds me of that first PCM change out we made. I just put that down as lesson learned.

    • @RTLife
      @RTLife  Před 3 lety

      A Scatpack with a 426 stroker is still a Scatpack. Engine & mods have no impact on a trim level. Mine will always be an R/T - it’s born one, will die as one. That being said I didn’t want to put forced air on a stock block - just don’t like putting that much faith in a tuner. Hope long term it works out for you. This 397 engine will likely only see 10-12 lbs of boost & be around 730hp range. I’m not looking to go further than that. If I go 15-20 lbs I’ll need to start upgrading everything around the engine.

Get an open by-pass valve for it so it makes that ''whoosh'' sound with the air, and helical cut gear set for the blower so it doesn't sound like a bunch of pennies rolling around in an empty coffee can. If youre wanting centrifugal id just go twin turbo, basically same thing but better outcome. Turbo lag isn't a problem if youre trying to avoid going overboard on torque, you can go bigger and get that high end power boost without overpowering your transmission. Our engines have more than enough torque to spin the tires in low gears anyway. Hellcat blower is the least labor intensive option since youre really just pulling and replacing the intake manifold for the most part.

    It’ll cost more money, but buy some Garrett or Borg Warner turbos, the over all built quality will be significantly better and longevity won’t be an issue.

    @hu3.789 Před 3 lety +2

    @ R/T Life - I find it interesting that you talk about people frequently asking you about when you're going to install a power adder at the beginning of the video. If that is motivating you to get the power adder installed sooner, I would first start off by telling you that what other people say and think are irrelevant. They don't have your bills and obligations to your family. My suggestion would be to get what you really want even if you have to wait another year to get it.
    Although the turbo kit you seems like it would be cost effective, it isn't. For one, the kit isn't complete. It doesn't include the blow off valve. Your exhaust system is 3" and the inlet and outlet flanges are only 2-1/2" meaning that you would have to add an exhaust system restriction feeding and exiting the turbo. As you stated earlier, this kit doesn't have an intercooler nor does it include the piping and fittings for the cold side of the turbo. In addition, it doesn't have a blow off valve. Colder spark plugs which would be required aren't included. Mounting a turbo is also much more labor intensive. The plumbing is more complex. You would have to provide oil to the turbo and return it to the engine. Mid mounting means that the air filter could be exposed to road conditions such as dust, mud, and snow. Mounting in the trunk means that you would have 2 small furnaces in the trunk. If you go this route, you're looking at over $1,000 in supporting parts plus double the labor for the installation for a twin turbo set up. The system is designed to make 5-6 pounds of boost. In your case, that would be around 5 lbs. because the more displacement you have the lower the boost pressure will be. You could accomplish what that turbo would do for you with a 150 shot of nitrous for about 1/3 the cost. As stated in the video, the further the distance from the throttle body the turbo is mounted, the more lag you will have. That's OK at the dragstrip where turbos can be spooled up because drag cars have high stall converters. However, the lag would be noticeable on the street. You'd like the initial jolt provided by the small turbo. However, it would have a tendency to fall on its face as you approach redline because the turbos are small. I can tell you this from personal experience because one of my cars has small twin turbos.
    If you insist on installing a power adder this winter, I would go with the supercharger over the turbo. The installation is cleaner and far less complex. The kits are much more complete. When I had my Procharger installed, the only thing I had to purchase in addition to the kit were the spark plugs. If you're going to with the supercharger,, you would have a choice of either the positive displacement or centrifugal. My preference would be the positive displacement because it would fit the personality of the car better. If you're concerned about the transmission, I would use a larger blower pulley until I had the money to upgrade the transmission. You had a dream of building a car that could compete with Hellcats. That won't happen if you go the centrifugal route because the low end grunt won't be there.
    This is what my preferences would be stated in order.
    1) Save more money and get what I really want. You had the goal of competing with Hellcats and I would pursue that goal even if I had to wait. You only go around once in this life.
    2) Nitrous - It's a good, cheap way to add power while you're saving money to get what you really want.
    3) Positive displacement blower
    4) Centrifugal blower
    5) Small turbo

    So pros about a supercharger: instant power, better sound
    Cons: less gains compared, takes engine power to operate, which makes it less efficient.
    Turbo: pros: cheaper for the gains, can be tuned to stupid amounts of power (1200hp at 20psi is attainable on a 5.7 pre eagle)
    Cons: turbo lag can hurt your 1/8 mile time, can be unreliable if you over do your boost

    As I see it, you should try driving both the supercharged and the turbocharged Charger Scatpack versions, pick up the one that behaves the way you like, and then go for the one of your choice.
    Rumors say that superchargers are more linear at delivering boost, more predictible and fun to drive, while turbos give more power at certain rpms, so, the decision is yours.
