- I had the opportunity to ride the BSL from Fern Rock to Erie Ave on the Roadeo train. Thank you to the operator for giving us a ride inside the cab!!

I'm a SEPTA fan to also I'm from philly and still lives here when I grow up I'm working for SEPTA and I did a project on SEPTA
Nicely filmed! I'm a tram and I approve this video ding ding!
😂😂😂😂
Back in the day when I was a kid before I started school,I use to think the trains drivers control throttle thing was a sink faucet because it looked like it was a sink faucet lol😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
BSL: Attention passengers, this train is not in passenger service. For your safety please d not attempt to board this train.
Haha I hate that
I have a question. I've been with the athority for a lil over 5 years now and I have my transfer in to go to the orange line. I just wanna know how long will it take to get there
csherard8 I'm not sure how long it takes, but usually they call you within the month
csherard8 If your Stupid, and have many infractions they may never call. Attendance is also a factor. I heard getting a position on the Subway is hard, Political some say.
SEPTATransitFan. Will they extend the trolley tunnel out the airport😀
Are there any pictures out there of the flying spur north of the Erie Avenue station?!
it looks like the subway in new york
This is AND is not an "express" train,
YES "all stops" & "non stop" trains may have the same point A to point B,
but there been NO platform for the "express" where the "all stops" do have a platform,
effectively been "separate lines"
Odd question. The metallic squeaking/squealing at 5:05 as the train is slowing down. Is that the brakes or the traction motors? I always assumed it was the motors because you also hear it under acceleration at low speed.
Azenturi it’s the braking system that they used since 2011
@@havenas1020yt Righto. Wasn't sure since I'd only ever taken the BSL once back in 2009 until about 2018.
That was the air brakes applying pressure on the wheels.
@@captainkeyboard1007 Presumably the noise on acceleration is the pressure releasing?
@@RealRaynedance First, the train operator coasted the train before applying the brakes. The traction motors are switched off. Then the dynamic brake is applied, followed by the electric brake that will work trainline. Finally, those air sounds that were heard were the air brakes applied when the train operator released the brake handle, thus reducing the train speed.
This ride would have been better if there were not so many slow speed areas in that tunnel. Even the local train beats that express train to the next gap station, that is the station stop for the express and local trains.
I can't wait to operate these trains. Patiently waiting
Cool! Let me know when you start!!
Sure will. I think I have at least another two years to go
csherard8 Ohhh okay, do you work at another transit system?
Nope work for Septa
csherard8 Ohh cool on what line?
My line!!
Missed riding the subways during my years in Philly. I don't plan to return due to the cringe-churning violence...but if things improve would like to do my take on the years since I left.
What is the point of this run?
It's a competition of operator skill
Thanks. Also, did any train operator explain why the southbound trains move so freaking slowly in between the Hunting Park and Erie stations? That would be very helpful if you knew because I commute on this subway a lot.
K. Genrette
The southbound locals move so slow because of that switch right before you enter Erie. They take a little swerve to the right and there is a switch they have to clear at 15 mph.
The expresses have timers there at 15-30 mph so the local and express can make connections
Oh okay that makes sense. So on rush hour commutes the express can catch the local or vice versa. It's the same way at Girard the express slows by the time it reaches Cecil. I used to get so mad because I'd be on a tight schedule.
K. Genrette Yup! That's how it works! I'm not so sure about northbound though, i feel like they care more about southbound service getting people into the city.
