  • A top day driving the North Loop on the Isle of Arran visiting Corrie, Sannox, Lochranza & Coire Fhionn Lochan. The road trip includes some of Arran’s most amazing roads & a room tour at my hotel in Brodick. ➡️ See more of my videos from SCOTLAND here → bit.ly/mwt_UK
I spent my second day on the Isle of Arran driving the north of the island and enjoying some of its most scenic coastal roads and viewpoints. I started my day however with a tour of my accommodation in Brodick - the Belvedere Guest House.
After breakfast I headed out to discover that Brodick Castle was closed for the day so I ventured up the east coast until I arrived at one of the Island’s most picturesque villages - Corrie. Here I found a hidden waterfall not too far away from the main road and a charming little harbour and park area. I learnt a thing or two about the sheep lining the harbour walls and why there were blocks of red sandstone laying around.
The road trip continued through Sannox and then up to the Glen Sannox hiking area where I hoped to spend a little time following a trail into the mountains. Sadly my arrival coincided with a torrential rainstorm passing through and so I decided to skip it in order to stay dry. I did manage to see a raging river and rapids before I drove on.
My next stop was in the island’s most northerly village Lochranza which is also home to a rather spectacular castle on the shoreline of the loch. The ruins of the castle are something to see and it fits in perfectly with the mountains surrounding the bay and all the pretty little white houses close by. The scenery here was as good as anywhere on the Isle of Arran , in fact it was so good I decided to stop for lunch.
From there I started driving the island’s west coast which seemed extremely quiet and peaceful. The stormy weather was perhaps keeping people away? I loved it though, the moody dark sky looked amazing set against the bleak shadow of the mainland in the distance and the steep mountains behind me. This was one of my favourite stretches of road to drive on the island.
I stopped at a few fast flowing rivers that emptied out into the sea as well as a beautiful little garden area that looked like it was maintained and nurtured by local villagers. My final challenge of the day was to head up the one hour walking trail towards Coire Fhionn Lochan - a magical place where I found an isolated loch.

Love the intro! "I was reading a book over breakfast". Stop bragging 😂 The drone footage and music over the loch is so peaceful. We've never seen rapids go through a botanical garden! Very brave to cross that rushing water!!

That's cool, I remember Girvan well, nice little place on the coast. I have fond memories of driving from Ayr to Stranraer! Funny you should mention Goatfell, I attempted it the very next day and the video is coming next Sunday. It was a tough but enjoyable day! I guess you'll catch the Ardrossan to Brodick ferry? I guess that's about an hour from you?

Interested in your pronunciation of Lochranza as "Loch Ensa". I have lots of Arran ancestors and have had 3 holidays on the island. Pity you didn't pop into the Corrie Golf club which has the prettiest mountain views I've seen in that area. Shame about your weather by north Sannox burn. Never mind! When I climbed Goatfell it was great going up but fogged over completely at the top. On my three trips I really really covered the island. Wonderful destination.

I can understand why they call it 'Scotland in miniature'! I really wish the weather had of been a bit kinder when I got to the North Sannox Burn, probably could have done with a whole day in that spot - terrific area by all accounts. Thanks for watching!
