Chrysler didn’t make it either since the government bailed them out in 2008 and 1979
If you know your history, in '79 Chrysler never actually received any funding from the federal government what they got was loan guarantees kinda like FHA, VHA home mortgages are. Loans were issued by private lenders, by backed by the federal government (co-signer kind of thing) So if Chrysler had defaulted the feds would had to paid off those loans and taken any assets that Chrysler had. Under Iacocca those loans were paid off in less than 5 years, so no federal money was ever used. In the late 2000's both GM and DaimlerChrysler had sold shares to the federal government and had to restructure (ordered by the bankruptcy court) their long term plans. In fact the federal government actually received dividends on some of those investments within a few years until those companies could buy them back at the current market price. A short time later DaimlerBenz (parent company of Mercedes benz) sold off their Chrysler interest to Fiat/Stellatis for a major loss (DB paid 36b sold it for about 8b). Besides Fiat had plans to reestablish itself in the U.S. market, after it had pulled out in the 80's. So by buying Chrysler it already had a dealer network in place and started selling their cars at present Chrysler dealers. The banks actually got federal money. Congress bailed out A.I.G mainly because it held the majority of the retirement investments for the members of Congress.
Yes. The bailing out of corporations and banks is socialism for the rich...and no one seems to complain about it unless it benefits the poor.

As soon as older EV batteries start to fail and suffer major degradation you're going to see mass drop off in used sales. Who wants to buy an older used car to be on the hook for a $15-20k battery? That makes older ones near worthless compared to the same age used ICE vehicle.
If you don't believe me you can find older Tesla's that were $90-100k new selling on Autotrader for $12-15k because the batteries hold 1/3 the charge of when it was new. EV's are just a game of hot potato once the warranty is up.
Exactly, everything is nice when it is new. At least you can repair an older ICE vehicle relatively cheaply. an electric vehicle not so much. The new battery is almost as much as the entire car. Gonna be a pile of EV's that can't even be recycled, as scrap value is worthless.

@@Wendy-nm9zw media targets you. Because you’re an easy sell on the idea that EVs, which catch fire dozens of times less frequently than ICE cars, are dangerous.
The early EV adopter phase is over. Demand has leveled off. Most don’t want EVs for many reasons. My biggest concern; massive depreciation. You build financial difficulty in your future owning an EV. After 5-8 years you end up with a range degraded EV that you can sell for only pennies on the dollar (maybe) and only an idiot with the money would replace the battery pack on a car that is worth less than the part. Senseless.
Who wants to spend their time and battery life looking for a charging station. Not me.
EV's make sense if you don't get the charge from your local fossil fuel plant. From an environmental standpoint that is simply hypocritical. From a personal finance standpoint, imagine the electricity prices if everyone was charging their cars from the local plants. Increasing demand will inflate the costs at the plug (instead of at the pump). I don't know what the maintenance costs are like but the cars are expensive and limited in mileage because of charging accessibility and charging times. Solar would makes more sense, but that doesn't work except during the day and only in certain geographical areas and large storage batteries are not up to the task. From a nationalistic standpoint, the CCP ruling China is trying to corner the EV market and has a hold of most of the world's battery materials. Who the hell wants the CCP to have any power. It would be dumb to give the CCP any edge.
Evs is still at early stages. They need to be cheaper and more charge stations.
No. They need to go longer on a charge and most important - charge quickly ( less than 10 minutes )
I have been saying this for years. Anybody that can do simple math can see that the math ain’t mathing and won’t for at least 50 years. The first reason is that they are way worse for the environment to produce, and you have to own them for 7 to 10 years before It starts to break even on the carbon emissions. Climate activist never mentioned this second Is battery disposal. There is no clean way to get rid of lithium batteries. They are extremely hazardous then even if the last two points weren’t issues charging infrastructure is again 50 years at least away from being able to support adoption if it ever can. These are easy points to prove and yet somehow people still have hope. I think it is a giant scheme to benefit China. They own all of the resources it takes to make them And the US politicians pushing it are the ones who helped remove sanctions from China and refuse to admit they are not our friends

Well, here in Europe, they are literally forcing electric cars down "people's throats", with an EU-wide legally imposed cut-off date for any new ICE cars as of 2035. My key concern with E.V's is the considerable fire risk (thermal runaway) linked to lithium-ion batteries, but also the huge expense of replacing an entire battery pack if a few of the multiple individual 18650 batteries contained in these huge and heavy packs are faulty, or damaged accidentally - or if battery pack performance falls below certain levels due to age.
Electric motors are far more energy efficient than any combustion engine, but key issues such as sufficient electricity production based on environmentally friendly means (the key objective, right?), truly safe battery technology, and the general network in terms of sufficient recharging stations and qualified repair centers, have yet to be significantly improved. Until that time, many drivers will keep driving their ICE cars as long as they can. I certainly will.
For the time being, I do not see how the huge and steadily rising electricity consumption linked to industry, IT, households, and the E.V. transition can be met without more "classic" means such as nuclear power. This is probably why E.V.'s may not make it in the long run. We shall see.
