    That landing was butter :). Thanks, I just got IL-2 mainly because it has these multi-engine aircraft. DCS is fun for single engined fighters but I have a soft spot for bombers!

      It handles very well, so landings are very easy in it. The catch with the Heinkels is that they carry so much fuel you'll never need all of it on any of the maps even though they're pretty big

    Oooh, you ARE clever! Thanks for that mate. I haven't even SAT in a 111 so I might just give it a go after this. By the way, are you alright? You sounded a bit sad when you were explaining where the Supercharger Control was at the very beginning? ;-))

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  Před 6 lety +1

      You should give it a try. Practicing some level bombing is an interesting way to expand your horizons now and again. The supercharger phrase I needed to re-record as I had it incorrect on the first release, so that's why my voice sounds a little different compared to the rest of it. I try to do the recording all in one sitting as your voice changes depending on different factors.

      I know, I know, I'm pretty into sound, it's one of my 'things'. I suspected as much. I watched another one of your videos on the bombsight (can't recall which one exactly) and it deffo cleared up a lot of the mystery. So much so I actually gave it a go! It's on the 'to do' list for sure and thanks once more.

    Okay this doesn't explain to me why the Air Start He 111's on the Finnish server always burst into flames for me. Like 10 seconds after spawning in both my engines fail and catch fire and I have no idea why.

    Is there a good tutorial how to trim the aircraft? In full realistic mode I have to drop bombs accurate without level stabilisor....

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  Před 3 lety +1

      No there's not tutorial as such. There is one principle when using trim. Use it to relieve control pressure, so this means that you'll have a certain amount of pressure on the stick to maintain your altitude and you use trim so that pressure goes away. You should be able to take your hand off the stick when trimmed correctly and the plane will maintain altitude.

    I sometimes wonder if those side guns were worth their weight. In reality bombers could not reliably protect themselves against fighters, and while a few guns make sense as a deterrent, I do wonder whether in hindsight they went a bit overboard and could have saved some weight and space and gained some speed instead.

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  Před 6 lety +2

      Yeah they don't give much field of fire but I guess they need some defense there or else it's an area that can be exploited in attacks

    • @koekiejam18
      @koekiejam18 Před 3 lety

      Its probably the same deal with Putting MG’s pointed upwards on tanks, it doesnt need to hit anything as long as it deters fighters it has done its job

    • @momotheelder7124
      @momotheelder7124 Před 3 lety

      @@koekiejam18 the question is, did it deter fighters though? Like, I think a Mossie has the same bomb load as an He-111-it doesnt have to worry about defending itself because it is very fast. I am surprised more companies didn't go for the approach of a very fast bomber without any bells and whistles.

    • @koekiejam18
      @koekiejam18 Před 3 lety

      @@momotheelder7124 hmm good question, (by the way killer job on still responding 2 years later!) I think the deal with speed is both a choice of preference and a choice regarding the tasking these fighters endured. I mean any fighterbomber/attack plane is going to lose speed after a dive or when trying to climb and i doubt that for every fighterbomber/attacker stripping away defensive armament lead to that big of an increase. Altough planes where alot less heavy back in ww2, i dont think alot of pilots would rather get a difference of perhaps 30kmph in exchance for 2-3 machineguns that can (potentially) keep fighters at bay. besides when it comes to the mosquito that was a very fast plane from the start so it would make alot of sense to go all in on the speed that already exists, meanwhile a plane that is already quite slow. For example the He-111 would do speeds between 310kmph and 400kmph where as the mosquito has shown to manage upwards of 550kmph. And my take on not alot of companies going this route has to do with the difficulty of spending ALOT of time on researching aerodynamics and engine technology to get a very fast plane, where as you could easily get an average plane and strap on 4 machine guns. (keep in mind this is all my take on this whole ordeal, and someone more specialised and informed would probably know alot more)

    I just started to learn to fly the HE 111 H-16 and I can take off fine but when I try to climb I just don't gain any altitude. I reduce my throttle to climb mode with flaps up and landing gear up but I can never seem to gain altitude I'm clearly missing a step because even with 30% fuel and 4- 250 lbs bombs I can never gain any altitude any suggestions ?

    • @apjp93
      @apjp93 Před 3 lety

      In your video after take off you accelerate to 200km /hr @ 1.25 ATA 2400 RPM for climb, when you do this are you only reducing your throttle untill you reach 2400 rpm / 1.25 Ata. Or is there not a secondary function you are performing?
      I've been trying to figure this out for hours help would be appreciated thanks .

    • @RequiemsACTL
      @RequiemsACTL  Před 3 lety +1

      You'll need to reduce throttle first to 1.25 ATA then reduce RPM to 2400. They're separate controls.
