I love how Wally says hello to everyone individually whenever he enters the scene
Like the one where they get picked up by Eddie! He just says all of their names individually and then immediately after he's in the air

I really relate to Wally and his autistic traits, like how blunt he is with his answers and the awkward pauses, they make me crack up. Also the "No, but I'd like to understand" just melts my heart because that is very true with many autistic people, me included. I may not 'get' some things at first, but I'd like to understand so I can relate to you. Also I just adore how Frank and Julie treat him normally, no over the top babying or rudeness, just genuine care for their friend :]
Yeah, I can relate Wally so much too.
I'm autistic and a can understand so many traits of him, I feel very indentified with him.
Something I don't like (Not about him, but about the fandom) is that some people think he acts like this because he's a demon or possessed. When in truth, that is their natural way of being, monotonous voice, different logic, problems coordinating their movements, etc.
When I was a kid, a lot people from my crunch thought I was possesed by a demon or something else, That they do the same with Wally touches my heart.
I don't rule out the theory that he can be possessed by an entity sometimes (I don't think all the time) Since in some audios, it can be interpreted that Wally dissociates in those conversations (Where he doesn't interact, but is present)
I have 2 theories about why he dissociates:
The first is that Wally functions as the "eyes" of the viewer in that world, until someone catches his attention and then he comes to, which is why the audios are distorted when he returns, as if a transmission was cut off.
The second theory is simpler, Wally dissociates when he is under the influence of some entity, or begins to do so when he is about to be possessed.

same, honestly for me it was very rare to see something like this in social media because everything i saw was mainly negative when it came to autism, im happy to see something positive for once, it makes me feel seen

Lmao, as an autistic person I relate so hard to that awkward pause after Wally asks if Home can play too and he seemingly can't think of anything else to say afterward. Conversation with other people is hard sometimes.

Apparently he’s canonically autistic? That would explain his slightly “monotone” voice and some other stuff, and it really makes me wonder if he’s got creepy intentions or if his actions are all just being misread
@@N3RDYG0GGLES I like to think his actions are misread. Especially in the new update he sounds like he's desperate for help. I also don't think Home is really evil either. But rather corrupted by the black goop under it

I relate to Wally a lot, I was very similar when I was younger. I have autism so getting older I've had to practice my facial expression and my vocal tones so I don't “offend” anyone. Wish I hadn't, I had only done it to please people.
I never managed to do it, I’m also autistic. I still act like Wally.
I love how this animatic captures and shows the awkwardness and unsettling nature Wally brings when he enters. You can tell by looking at this that there’s something really wrong with him.

Something I really like about their chemistry, especially in this conversation, that everyone acts like the classic Sesame Street characters but then we meet Wally. I like how Wally isn’t made out as a villain but instead is under the influence of Home and wants to have fun with his friends but that is hard to do when you have a toxic relationship with something/someone at the same time. Such as the line he says when they ask if he understands just so, he says, "no, but i would like to understand. " it gives off the vibe of he wants to live normally but something is stopping him from being full emersed. Nice animation btw.

Something just occurred to me about this interaction......Maybe Frank is trying to get Wally to open up about something or if theres anything suspicious going on????
Its very rare to hear Wally talk about himself. He's usually talking about what's going on in the moment or about what Home wants or is doing.
Frank is supposedly the smartest out of the neighbors, therefore he MUST be the most aware that there's something going on with Wally
Good catch; I hadn't thought of that. Gonna go re-listen to Frank's recordings to look at it from that angle and see if I can find anything else

Before becoming aware of "Welcome Home" everything looked like a Creepypasta. But after coming across the official page and seeing all these adorable animatics and voice clips, i wonder where exactly the horror comes from.
How is this not popular?
Wally's behavior is a wonderful twist on that of a naive children's show protagonist meant to act as an audience surrogate. His lack of knowledge and stilted manner of speaking are typical of the genre, but when played straight it makes for a character that is both charming and unsettling.

Clips like these give me the impression that part of the show was meant to teach neurodivergent children the social cues and phrases like "the usual" and "just so" that they may not understand, things that neurotypical people might not think to/know how to explain to them. Given that Clown/PartyCoffin is autistic and so is Wally, I wouldn't be suprised if such a thing was considered since this is something ND children would have greatly benefitted from and enjoyed. I know I certainly would have when NT people couldn't understand how I wasn't born knowing how such phrases work and thus didn't know how to explain them to me!
Anyway, I love this animatic! I love how expressive and in-character they are!
