The PM delivers the business case and once approved by the sponsor, the business case objectives as output inside the time, cost and quality parameters. The site manager covers just the build or implementation stage in accordance with the PM’s specification. The former acts for the client, the latter delivers for the contractor.
Spot on, and very relevant to corporate construction as it were - the awareness piece is around when the client (property developer) is appointing themselves in that role or appoints someone off Facebook to “check in” on the project with little direction
As a site manager since 2015, contracts manager usually produces unrealistic programme. most subbies would be underpaid, so work in and out basis. Site manager will have no say, or have any control. But when it all goes wrong and project elements are delayed, is the the site manager who is thrown under the bus. Of course, every project and employee is different, but there are similarities.
I have been offered a site manager role for a very well known home developer in the UK. My concern is the stress of dealing with tradesmen not doing their jobs correctly, I look very young and feel that people will not take me seriously.
Thanks for the comment mate, have you thought about how stress free it would be if the tradesmen did do their jobs correctly and did take you seriously?
You’re coming up with stressful situations in your own mind before they’ve even happened
@@PaulTinkerMakeMOREprofit Good point, thanks mate
Did you take the role, if so how are you getting on
Dispite your age, you are the boss, sorry for those who judge or laugh, the job have to be done right if they dont want the kid to be telling them wrong. Dont let them smell your fear. You are going to do Great, not everyone gets asked for that role. Empower yourself.
Man up bro
Many thanks, I currently work in block management and I'm looking to get into site manager but didn't really have a clear idea of what it is. This video helped a lot.

I remember being a site manager. Making the magic work. I'm a senior project manager now so I'm juggling chainsaws while riding a bike
😂😂😂😂
So what about the Construction Project Manager?
Who is the professional responsible for managing drawings? Because I know this person as Project Manager (Projetcs=Drawings), this person and the Site Manager work as a Construction Team. Generally, they are dedicated to managing only one Construction; his lead is the "Construction Project Manager", who manages many constructions simultaneously.
thanks a lot,very useful!
Thanks for the video, it's quite educative
Good stuff!
How do you keep records of variations?
Business wide we have an internal management system that follows a procedure to make sure we capture all these - if you want to know more about this drop me an email at info@constructiontrainingacademy.com
usually know nothing uni' people or greedy get it done so I get my bonus people thrive in this role, hence the youtube channel "not my job" "on the tools" "that's Shocking". The tradesmen are exactly that, they don't go out early in the morning intending to do a bad job, they get so much pressure to get it done that they will cut corners.
Dear Paul, Can you please provide me with a Site Manager Structure Plan (flow chart), to whom I need to follow instructions like client, project, contractor, principal contractor, Designer and Principal Designer.
Kindly provide me with a chart, so that i can easily flow steps under your guidance.
