    99% in front of a computer or on the phone or both, but DEFINITELY not boring. There's 1000+ variables to deal with, constant problem solving, and massive pressure from above. If you like challenges, are able to think outside the box quickly, and are able to build trusting relationships, PMing is for you.

    Project Management and Construction Manager are not the same thing. Project Management is a much broader field of study and generally includes all lifecycles and phases of a project. Project Management areas of concentration according to PMI include projects in IT, healthcare, and engineering & construction. Construction Management is specific to the management of the construction phase of the overall project, and is broken down into types of construction such as residential, commercial, heavy infrastructure & Industrial. The term Construction Project Manager is simply a PM in the construction industry. The specific types of construction industries generally do not accept experience from other industries, so it can be very difficult to change industries without taking a big step backwards.

      Is there any difference between a construction manager and construction project manager ?

    • @Gh3tt0Gam3r
      @Gh3tt0Gam3r Před rokem +3

      @@fawzykoneofficial2471 Construction manager = Management of Operations, Project Manager = Management of Projects... so the construction manager will be responsible for the coordination of equipment, labor and resources across all projects to satisfy the needs of the COMPANY, the PM would be responsible for faciliting all of the needs of the PROJECT. PM would likely answer to the Construction Manager when requesting resources/labor/equipment.
      Caps are for emphasis and distinction, not sarcasm or aggression. Hope that helps

    I think you need to drop the construction bit. The PM covers the entire project life cycle on behalf of the client. Unless it’s say an EPCM project by a developer, it’s likely the construction element will be tendered and delivered by a contractor. The contractor will then have a PM but really it will be a contract manager. The day to day construction in the uk is done by a site agent who will the site lead management team. The client will have a representative depending on contract type. If you want to understand PM properly join the APM in the UK or the PMI in the US.

    Kids, right now the Construction Managers I know are closer to the Superintendant role and make more than the PM! Both positions are difficult to fill, but Construction Managers and Superintendents are far harder to find.

      I’m doing the estimating, closing, management, and supervising for a very small team of about 6 people. 13 projects at the moment; I start Monday. No degree. Just something to think about. I can communicate and sell myself very well though. I realize I am about to get thrown to the wolves, but that’s how sales was and it worked out fine.
