    This is definitely one of the best lessons on rhythm patterns for beginners. I'm about 21 months into my lessons, and progress has been slow, especially where hand coordination comes in. I was able to play all the patterns up to the last one, but it sounded so beautiful when he plays it that I was determined to work at it more. I really appreciate that he stated it was going to be difficult for beginners, and that you should practice the pattern on just one chord first. I had great difficulty at first, but after about a week I started to get the coordination. By two weeks, I was playing the 3 chord progression, and sometimes I even got it right. There is nothing so rewarding as being able to do something that you thought you couldn't do. Thanks, Scratch! I will continue to practice this and your other lessons as I make microscopic progress.

    Just got my keyboard a couple of weeks ago and I've been looking into many "Do this and learn Piano in 5 days" kinda videos, but you help with the basics and just build on top of it. It's an amazing workflow that really works well for me. Thanks a lot for your efforts in making quality content!

  • @dmills7375
    @dmills7375 Před rokem +2

    Thank you so much. What sets this video apart from others is that not only do you show us the pattern, but you also take the time to EXPLAIN what you are doing. That is SO helpful. The third this is having highlighted keys. The combination of these three techniques knocks it out of the park. A bonus is telling us songs that use the rhythms. I’ve never seen anyone else do all four of these (especially not telling us songs to use the rhythms on).
    I need just a little more time to perfect, then I’m going to start finding song’s to play along with. Thank you so much!!!

    I am a mid intermediate. Since taking an early retirement a year and a half ago I’ve made it my goal to make piano a major priority in my life. I practice 2-3 hours a day broken into 3 or more sittings. I read music but have almost zero experience with improvisation and playing with a lead sheet or backing other musicians/accompaniment. This video is extremely helpful and hope to watch more like this. You are a fantastic teacher! I watch all your videos!

    AT LAST 👏👏👏You are my new FAVE Piano Teacher!! When I was a kid, my Piano Teacher was old, crotchety and unforgiving...so I learned bad habits on my own, after only the basic lessons and theory! I recently got a piano, and I'm determined to sight read, and develop my natural ear ability, while practicing daily...you've given me the CONFIDENCE, while making it easy to understand, and I will absorb all of your teaching lessons! THANK YOU AND BLESS YOUR HEART! Lisa
