    This is as big as it gets - we get hands-on with a micro LED, 292 inch Samsung Television, called "the Wall". This is the new 2020 version of Samsung's "the wall", and while absurdly expensive, it's fully scalable - so it can potentially get even bigger. Found this year at CES 2020.

  • @enigmatwist6548
    @enigmatwist6548 Před 3 lety +3

    Even if I had the money I think I’d prefer a projector for a home theatre. For a fully immersive experience you’d want to have a screen that fills the wall top to bottom and left to right of the theatre room. However you can’t do that with this as it would leave no room for the speakers, the best screens for use with a projector allow for speakers to be placed behind the screen. So you can have a wall of both screen and speakers, can’t do that with this.

      I havent seen prices for the microLED type module but there are places where one can purchase these kind of modules from Samsung. The cheapest one ive seen were priced at around 800 usd and I think you would need at least 12 of them to get a 200 inch screen in 1080p.

      @@yourfriendlyneighbourhoodfatso it won't come like this, it's a modular TV, it's made up from a bunch of modules, you can make it any shape you want or size, it's going to be a huge box but it won't be a literal wall to transport. It will be like buying a lot of 30 inch TVs

    I remember the in the 90's going to a friends house and seeing them with a 50 some inch TV that weighed almost a ton and being amazed lol. I remember in the mid 2000's not even taking one someone offered to give me for free. These days you can get a big screen for cheap and a 100th of the weight lol. Maybe a few years down the road, TV's this size will be pretty affordable, problem will be having the space for it and how you would even get it through your door.

    To put it into perspective, a ~120in TV is about $500.000 USD. So that 290in is probably close to $1m USD. Probably less just because it may scale less after you hit 120in+.
