[Joe] Being able to close the door for the night after a long productive day, gives tomorrow the opportunity to be enjoyed, rather than toiling over yesterday’s work.
That means tonight I can rest in peace. It’s like when God created everything in the beginning, He set everything up for us, confirmed that it was all good, and then rested. A lot of times, I just assume rest to be sleep in order to recharge.
But I’m finding that rest is a means to access peace.. the ability to just exist and enjoy everything God has created for us. And when there’s peace, there’s joy. The joy of our kids’ growing and learning, the joy of exercising our body, the joy of exploring new places, the joy of being in nature, or that elusive type of joy- to just smile like a kid again.
Psalm 127:2
It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.
