    Previous Video: • Make VHS cameras TAPEL...
    gonna make tutorial videos more often, let me know what you want me to cover next!!
    I covered some faqs I got from my previous tapeless vhs camera video and show off hi8 tape and direct to vcr recording to give everyone an idea of the differences between these analog video formats

    Thanks for responding to my comment. My tapeless setup right now uses a pretty cheap fancy recorder with a screen and its interchangeable with vhs hi8 and basically any camera with an AV output. I just need to get around to making a video explaining it

  • @BetacamSP
    @BetacamSP Před 2 lety +4

    You can get a real 60 fps after deinterlacing by yadif2x.
    Later hi8 cameras have very poor small ccd matrix with a small number of pixels, apparently to push users to buy new digital models, although the recorder part itself allows you to record and reproduce a sharp picture recorded on an honest hi8 camera. Therefore, I advise you to use honest hi8 cameras released before year 2000 from advanced brands, such as Sony.

    • @arttheboy
      @arttheboy  Před 2 lety

      Oh sick is this the machine learning algorithm things, havent tried deinterlacing methods. as for the hi8 quality images i only have sony and panasonic hi8 and video8 cameras. Is panasonic one of the companies that made lower quality hi8 tape cameras?

    • @BetacamSP
      @BetacamSP Před 2 lety +1

      @@arttheboy Doubling deinterlacing is a classic, non-machine learning thing that has been used in flat-panel TVs from the beginning of their production to today, and physically performed on CRT TVs - yes, they provided smooth 60 frames per second. Panasonic didn't make 8mm equipment, only VHS/S-VHS and their smaller variations VHS-C/S-VHS-C. As for Sony, it depends on the model.
      You can capture the EIA Resolution Chart with a camera. For Hi8/S-VHS, the stripes at "400" or more should be visible. CCD resolution in conventional VHS / Video8 distinguish up to a maximum of "300"

    This video is perfect. I made my Canon XM2 Mini DV Tapeless and everything except for the sound is working. The sound has a lot of interfering noises which sounds like a helicopter.

    • @arttheboy
      @arttheboy  Před 2 lety +2

      Hmm interesting, sounds like an interference issue cases by lack of shielding on the audio wire. You can cheaply shield wires with aluminum foil over the rubber insulation and re electrical tape everything. People normally do this for guitars - maybe this would at least reduce the issue. Normally solder joints are super exposed and pickup random signals

    • @arttheboy
      @arttheboy  Před 2 lety +1

      For sure, thanks for the question. Try seeing if the audio out of your miniDV camera works (like plug it into a tv). If you are certain the DVR is the problem after doing this test most likely it is a short and you may just need to better insulate the audio wire. Hope this helps!

    So if I wanted to download a 1080 p video from youtube, and try to run it through a VHS set up, it would look too sharp? Subscribed by the way, you're doing exactly what I've been wondering about for a while!

    • @arttheboy
      @arttheboy  Před rokem

      I showed an example in a cut-away when i mentioned this. depending on the camera it doesn't look too bad. It just doesn't look authentically old which was what I meant by that. I do see this effect used with DSLR or phone footage it just has a different look than using an old camera

    • @arttheboy
      @arttheboy  Před 2 lety +3

      I am working on a buying guide video but here’s the quick tip. Whatever you choose, aim for a camera with an AV output because even if the tape mechanism breaks you can convert it into a tape less camera. I actually like the tape less vhs method the best it is the first camera footage I show in the video.
