  • This is a Tamiya Super Clod Buster "Limited Gray Edition" truck kit..
I added ball bearings to the kit as well as Tamiya Super Sport TZ motors #53696 and running on a Gartport 4,000mah 2S lipo pack.
Also using Robinson Racing 13 tooth steal pinions..
Those Tamiya Super Sport TZ motors with that 2S lipo gives this truck all kinds of torque, pulls the wheels from a stand still, forward & reverse!! (you must rework the motors to have them work in this truck).
I cant wait to try the JConcepts wheels & tires on it... that will be in the speed run video... I will do a run with stock wheels/tires & the JConcepts wheels/tires.
I have an Amazon red 35kg (486.045 oz/in) servo in the truck and as you see, it does not turn the wheels sitting still but it's fine as you drive the truck. I had one of those servo's burn out cause it went full lock for about 3 mins, my fault.. All others have been working ok.
That was just a fast run, any longer and I would have sent the truck airborne.... NOT what I want to do with a Limited kit, I have another Clod to do that with.
Thank You all for the time... C'ya on the next video!!!!

Hiya Bob and great to see the Limited Edition turning it's wheels for the first time! And man, she's got some pep! Loving the wheelies and stoppies! Mine is going to seem a little tame after watching yours go. She looks so sweet out there in the natural light, and great to see your other rigs spectating! Glad it finished the run in one piece, too! ATB, brother! :O)

Thanks brother Mark... I'm glad I didn't break out the ramps, I still have a little self control, but just a little as I almost sent the truck at full speed. Speaking of full speed, I can't wait to get her out for a speed run and compare that to the stock Clod. If I had the esc set to 100% reverse, the backwards wheelies would be the same as the frontward ones, but I always set the esc's for less reverse. I can't wait to see you and Rob rip those Clods in the sand (tape the vent holes in the wheels first if you glued the tires, just a tip. ATB my mate, and hope you all are feeling better!!!

Thanks man, I think the motors might be a bit much for such a limited edition kit, better suited for my race Clod. I was just commenting to Dom, I always watch and give a thumbs up on the videos I do watch but can't comment through the tv via PS4, I'm trying to catch up now (I don't use a phone to watch and don't use the laptop often to watch).

Thanks you so much!!! It's all in the motors really, everything else is my go to running gear. I did find that the HobbyWing 880 esc does need to be programmed and finding the right one is tricky (it needs to be the RED one for the 1060/880 by HobbyWing). I have the Blue card and use photos of the Red card to set mine up because the card is the same, its the numbers and values that are different.

Thanks Rob!!! It's the same as any other Clod, what makes the power is, the motors & lipo pack I used (its the same lipo I use in most kits I have, the same Pete uses, the Gartpot 2S 4000mah round pack). However, the Tamiya Super Sport TZ I reworked and put in make up a lot of that torque and power. I did a video on the motors & how I worked them to be used in a Clod.

However, one can build the snot out of one.. It's the Lego* of RC Trucks.... For an RC truck design that's over 30 years old, it hold it's own very well.

  • @yodadarksideGreenHawksRC

    Hey Bob!
Maaaan, that thing was on steroids!!!
Those Super stock motors are pretty rapid for brushed motors, never seen them used in a clod before!
That was insane, backward wheelies, endo's..... bet she was quite a handful to keep on all 4 wheels mate? Great stuff.
She looks superb, especially with all her other siblings out there.
Ive still not built my superclod yet, but have just finished restoring a mk1 bow tie beauty-
Full Alluminium sassy chassis, loadsa carbon, upgraded shocks, 35kg steering servos on each axle, twin torque tuned motors etc etc.
She looks awesome, and weighs a ton! 🤣
I'm pretty sure you will approve sir.... as I know how much you love a clod!
    All the best mate! 👍 👍 👍 👍
Hope to get her on the channel soon.

    • @UncleBobsRC
      @UncleBobsRC  Před rokem +1

Careful with those motors, See the video Addam did on his channel about silver can motors other than stock ones (fixed timing and swapping wires don't help), That's why I always go for rebuildable motors, easier to turn the rear motors end bell 180 degrees.. I did a video on how I got those SS motors set for a Clod. I have an OG Clod too but she's not ready for the spotlight just yet... Old Sassy Chassis, SWEET!!!! I'm using a Thunder Tech Racing Ripper Pro chassis on my race Clod. The only thing I can say about a Clod build is, Bearings & Steal pinions (32 pitch, 13 teeth) and your set. Driving this Limited Edition Gray (Grey) Super Clod Buster is a bit hit & miss, so much torque, but she will be spending most of her life on a shelf.. I have other Clods I can run. Just have fun man, that's what it's all about!!! Thanks for the view and words mate, ATB!!!!!!

Cheers for the valuable advice Bob, I know your a proper 'clod aficionado' with lots of experience in the field!
Your racing clod sounds awesome, I bet clod racing is super fun!
Yes I remember seeing Addams video, along with some others including some of yours I do believe.
The timing/direction issue makes full sense.
The Mk1 was intended to be a shelf piece rather than a runner, it's restored to an immaculate level.... the original silver cans were rusty and worn so I installed the 2 torque tuned motors as they were new and going spare, simply to look nice.
I generally fully restore original 80s models to a very high standard for the shelf, it's silly running them when they have been made perfect, especially as the plastics all go so brittle.
I buy re re's to drive, so the super clod re re will be my runner clod once it's built.
We do this with most models, as you can drive them hard being re re's without having to worry about damaging them!
If I do run the MK1 it will be a very light/short run on grass.
      All the best fella. 👍 👍 👍 👍

@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC Oh that's good to hear... I thought you were going to run the concourse OG Clod.. I even have OG stickers for mine not MCI or other re-re stickers, but they need some help, started to lift in spots and got dirt under them.. not too bad but bad enough I have to cut 2 to make one.

Ah sweet mate, look forward to seeing your OG once she's done!
100% with you regarding the decals, I managed to obtain an original set for £60,another good reason why this one won't be getting run.
I know a lot of people frown upon shelf queens, but I believe there is room in this hobby for all angles.
I could never have just shelf queens as I enjoy running them too much, but at the same time I wouldn't enjoy running a rare piece of fragile rc history that I've invested so much time and money into, as I would be too worried about damaging it.
I get a lot of pleasure out of seeing them all on the shelf looking immaculate, a little nostalgic time capsule as it were.
And that's where the re releases come into play-
They aren't rare, the plastics are new and a lot less brittle, spares are easily available..... meaning I can let rip, kick up some dust, push them hard, break them, repair them, and generally get full enjoyment out of driving them the way they were intended to be driven!
Looking forward to eventually getting the super clod re re built, and driving over the other guys cars! 🤣 👍 👍 👍 👍

@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC I hear ya man... I had so many OG Clods and now hard to get (or if in like new condition grill & tailgate, cost an arm & leg). I seen OG stickers trying to sell for $200 USD on ebay... I beat the hell out of a lot of Clods and RC kits... As I got older, I recognize the value of older, hard to find/get kits and parts. Nothing is wrong with a shelf queen if you have other runners/bashers that one need not worry about.
