Fox is 90% Done!!!!
The Fox is 90% done, Thanks to Addam of @AddamsPlayground for the shocks...
This is just a first test run.. Things need to be sorted out so here's a slo-mo shot.
The steering is kind of shallow (steering throw is not wide enough)
I do hate the battery wires hanging out of the side (re-wire or shorter wires will help, they cock the body to one side...
Again, 90% done, still needs some "tuning" to run true and right. This is a Vintage Fox so no "bashing" (I call it RC Abuse).
Thanks for watching........ More to come

My first run at the CW-01 Creations Tamiya DT-02 Speed Challenge by Peter Smith. The buggy has more in it but room to run was/is a factor in the case. 48mph or 77. kph isn't bad... Tamiya Holiday Buggy First Run: A Gift from the RC Elf!!!! Motor swaps???
Oh yeah! I’m excited!👍😊
Yes, it's a sort, very short video, still have things to work out but it does run...
Going, Going...., Gone 😂
Yes sir, gone under the wife's crossover, suv or whatever TF it is... LOL
5 seconds 🤔 Quite frustrating 🤪
That was by design.... It's not ready for a full video just yet... (oh, bummer about the motor).
Go on Bob! Hit that POWER! 😊😊😊 nice Fox 😊😊best wishes to you and the family 😊😊
It's vintage with the motor it came with... Got a few things to sort out, then it will get a full run video..
"IT'S ALIVE!!!" 😊 👍 👍 👍
Yes indeed mate!!!
The TXT-2 still eludes getting added to my collection. Hope to find one in decent shape for a decent price some day. 😊
Good Luck... I you seen what they want for them on ebay (evilbay)? As I said before, I'm building a second one but missing the upper bumpers & mounts (the whole tree's really) and the server/axle guard.. Found some in Germany but they don't ship to the States..
Now this is soooo me!! 👌 👍 👍 👍
This is old footage man, at least a year or 2 old. I tried to make this a short with music, apparently, that's beyond my capabilities, LOL....

I cant remember if it was sand or dirt.... Either way, it was a blast and yes, that's Kev...
That's a kit I so want to get.
A Clod or TXT-2? You might find a TXT-2 on a Japanese site or EBay and I seen them on evilbay from 400 up to 1200 bucks... I have another I been building for the last 2 years and its 90% complete.
Always love seeing some monster truck rumbling around!
Yeah man, this was a while ago and its been sitting on the SD card that long.. It was a fun day!!!
Great jumps 👍 🤝
Thanks man... Kevin's (Madmustang RC) Cold has stock motors and gear boxes, stock gearing but he has an aftermarket chassis & shocks and he is also running on 3S, my mod Clod with 13 turn motors on 2S cant catch him...
I remember that day we had fun.
That was fun, I tried to make this a "Short" with music, apparently, that's beyond my capability.. LOL
Have you seen the new hornet Evo?
Yup, seen it the other day... I hope it's real and I think it would have been better with the Super Hornet wheels & tires...
I hope they make the super hornet again.I had.
Looked like a good time Bob!👍😊
Thanks man, that was a year or 2 ago...
Cool man.....loads of these little buggers all over CZcams at the mo!🤣 They really are a superb performing car for what they are.....simple,unyet highly effective at what they do. They are in general also fairly tough, and easy to work on! As for the suoerstock family of motors.....they are my weapon of choice in most of my vintage Tamiya and kyosho models. I have many BZ,TZ and RZ.....with the RZ being my favourite as it's red!!😂 Lol,that was a joke.....I actually find the RZ slightly faster, and it sounds devine! The red bell end is just a bonus....😂🤣😅 Good speed there mate about what I was expecting! 👍 👍 👍
Hey Bob, well what did you know, while watching the Holiday Buggy running, I said to myself, about 25-26mph as a guess 😊😊and there it is! I was spot on! 😂😊😂best wishes to you and the family 😊😊
Radar eyes.... LOL. Thanks John and a great guess.... Now, will putting bearings into the BZ motor give me more MPH?????
@@UncleBobsRC oh yes and stick some bearing oil on the bearings or even team-zx1 micro oil, makes the friction less, perfect for bearing, I reckon +2 / +3mph on the 26mph and depending on the battery, perhaps hitting the magical 30mph. Let me know how you get on 😎🖐️😉
@@JF-RC I will have a video of it.......
Nice run Bob. 👍
Thanks Dirk.....
Nice speed, faster than my TZ 🥵 😁
Strange, both the TZ & BZ are spec'd with the same RPM..... I wonder if adding bearings to the motor will yield a higher top speed... That's the next video....
@@UncleBobsRC I now wonder if my speedrun strip was too short. Also, it's possible it was 25.49 and so 25. Tire size can be a factor. Anyway 1 mph here and there, not to worry. If you were at 30, that would be an issue for my result 🧐🤝
@@coygtrc Hi Gabe, I'm just doing this for fun, and will be working my way back to the 380 motor the buggy came with... As for the motors, both the BZ & TZ boxes say 26,500 rpm at 7.2 volts, not sure what Tamiya used for the number but even Nicads or NiMh packs charge to over 8 volts... So, that's why I test at 7.4V to 7.5V try to be fair for all types of batteries other than A123 cells (6.6V). Lets not forget motor age, brush wear, brush material, comm wear and bushing condition, All play into speed & efficiency. As for the spot you run at, as you get faster, your going to want/need more room... Room to get up to full speed and room to slow down/stop.. As you see, the lot I'm at is almost long enough to go full throttle for about a second then I'm on the binders... and i the grass... LOL
Dom and I tried the usual spot but it is freshly paved but blocked off for now so we will try and run again this weekend. But that guy there is ripping around pretty good
Oh they paved the parking lot? SWEET!!!!! now it's gonna be dolphin smooth.... LOL Thanks for the view man, it's not too bad for what the buggy is... Will adding bearings the the BZ motor give me more MPH???

Nice run, Bob. Get after it!
Thanks Paul.... Where's your run didn't say something about a 3.5T brushless motor?
@UncleBobsRC I'm saving my free time for the MF01x runs. I would have loved to jump in, but there just wasn't enough time. I'm certainly spectating / scouting possible contenders.
@@Paul__FC I wont be in that, I don't have an MF, I AM THE MF!!!!! LOL
@@Paul__FC That motor in that chassis is gotta be like the door open on a UH-1H and the pilot rolls to the left and all ya see is ground (been there, done that)... That too is a "by the seat of your pants" moment!!!!
You said it Bob, not a bad speed at all for a pretty stock Holiday Buggy! Looks like a blast to drive while flicking it around on that asphalt! Hope all is well my friend! 😎👌👍
Thanks brother Mark.... This is just a fun buggy, something to muck about with... After all this, it will end up with the 380 motor back in it... It really don't need to be a rocket. However, bearing will be going into the BZ motor for the next video... Will they give me a few more MPH??
Not bad at all! 26mph is a very respectable speed!!!
Thanks dude!!! Next I'll put bearings in the BZ motor and try again, after that, back to the Paradox Pro stock motor...
26 is pretty dang good Bob!👍😊
Thanks man, next step is to put bearings in the motor and try again, after that, I'll put the Paradox Pro Stock motor back in...
the place is really nice for rc bashing and relaxing too
Thanks, it's a school parking lot but we are not really allowed to run RC vehicles there... I get away with it cause I'm old (way over 50), I don't make a mess, I pick up after myself and I don't bash RC usually, or try not to.. We do speed runs there and one time, we did some touring car racing there...
Sweating like a pregnant nun in church!!😂🤣😅 Another superb run buddy... that things quick man!! I'm pretty sure that still counts,it's obviously doing those kind of speeds even if it did suffer with some premature GPS ejaculation!! I think it's guna be a battle of the titans between you and Peter Smith in this one....may the best man/car win! Great stuff fella!👍 👍 👍
Premature gps ejaculation, now that's funny... Here's another something funny... I got an email from Mr. Smith and I seen his thing and I showed him mine... Get your mind(s) out of the gutter.... Not that thing (besides, we all know everything is bigger in the States, LMAO). as my buddy Kevin said, Snipers are out there and will strike at the last minute and knock us all down.. I do plan to show all the gear I used and take the motor cover off at my final run. Crash or not, it all will be recorded, from the lipo I use to the connectors I use, tires, motor, esc.... Everything. I will only be using a 19 tooth pinion, I have been all along.
@@UncleBobsRC Yeah man,not guna argue with that one matey..... you guys over the other side of the lake certainly know how to go big!🤣 As for the snipers..... sounds like you have some inside info there buddy! I'm certainly looking forward to watching the brushless battle unfold either way! And of course we have our own battles to fight in the brushed category! 😂 Be interesting to see your set up in detail after that last run for sure..... I'm pretty clueless to the whole brushless thing in all honesty mate, but fun to learn along the way. Good luck with your mission Uncle Clod.....I mean Bob!! Best wishes from the UK!👍👍👍
@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC England & Holland are my roots (Dad came over here when he was 4 in 1928) and us kids (his kids) were the first in the blood line born here. Yeah mate, brushed & brushless is going to be something... I wonder, if Peter comes in first will he keep the 1st place prize or hand it off to the runner up (2nd place)?? Either way, I'm gonna push this buggy way past its limits and if I wreck it, well, I'll get another, I kinda like it... Good luck to you all over there!!!!!!
@@UncleBobsRC Ah,so you have some English blood in you eh buddy?! 👍 As for Peter, the guy has a heart of gold and is so generous..... I don't think he would even allow himself to win his own competition, he would probably deliberately hold back to let others win I would guess. He has come down to see us a few times now,and he clearly gets pleasure by helping others in this great hobby we all share. We are looking forward to flipping the script soon and getting him a present! 😁 And, I'm in no doubt that you will carry out your quest to the end matey.....I still remember seeing that TTO2 of yours last year, the parachute special! 😂 Good luck dude! 👍 👍 👍
Ooh yes that certainly has an issue! As others have said I guess it's just a case of swapping electronics out until you find the dodgy component. Other than that it's looking good mate. Best wishes 😁👍👍
Thanks Pete!!!! I did try to bump up the voltage from the ESC to the RX but it still does what it did in this video, but not as bad. I'll try a Futaba RX first, then cap packs (I should have those on anyway)... I'll either get it sorted or I'll pull the stuff out and put it in my race Clod chassis..
Hey Bob, ‘sweat like a pregnant nun in church’ interesting terminology 😂😂. Yeah, well let you have the 57mph 😊😊you wouldn’t have bent your rod without the speed 😊😊 best wishes to you and the family 😎🖐️😉
LOL... Thanks John... I can't make more of a reply... Mums the word....
Great run Bob. Don't think I'm going to beat that mate. To bad about the crash but at least you only bent stuff.
Yeah Rob... As I always say, speed is fun but something will always break... Front tires came off the wheels, (cleaned and now glued) camber link popped off (that's back in place) and as for me bent rod, well My Holiday Buggy will donate it's steering link(s) till I get the adjustable links for the DT-02. Now for the speed I got, I need a lot twice as big or hit a country road less traveled that's long and smooth... Just think, I'm not even using my fastest motor yet.......
I love the dt02 platform. My holiday buggy is one of my favorite RC’s. Bad part is Mine tends to eat servos for some reason.
That's strange man... I stripped a servo gear, a nylon servo gear in the Sand Viper, 1; I forgot I had it in there and 2; never thought of doing a speed run with it... Maybe I should hold a "Speed Run Challenge" using only Tamiya FF Front wheel drive cars....
That's a great speed Bob, even with the wipeout! I know you can smash 60 with that setup. I know you would not cheat so I say it counts. Now get that buggy fixed up and get out on that road and punch it!!! Bent rod! 🤣🤣👌👌👍👍
Hey brother Mark.... How's it hanging mate??? You guys across the pond need to step it up man.... at least 7 of you guys over there... I glued my front tires, gonna put in a new servo, I'll get a new plastic Tamiya servo saver (rather break that than an arm, upright or shock tower) and swap steering links with the Holiday Buggy cause you know, I bent my rod!!! LOL Then I'll bring out THE BIG GUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hiya Bob. OMG that is crazy quick! Yeah I don't think it matters if you crash and the GPS falls off. I think you've won this contest mate. Best wishes 😁👍👍
C'on mate, I know you have faster brushless systems.... LETS DO IT!!!!!!
@@UncleBobsRC What KV is your set up Bob? The highest KV I have is about 4600 I think. The fast cars I have are designed for 3s or 4s so have 3300KV or lower so no good for 2s 🤔
@@PeteWylieRC Right now, it's a 6900kv and not my fastest, I have one more motor that I'm afraid to use.. Most all my stuff is Castle Creations..

Sorry bud just got done with the family get together and had a lot of catching up to do. Man that really sucks about the car I know you will get back up and running. As we all know if you hit a wall it doesn't make you faster but I don't know the rules on it but 57mph whoa that is cooking.
Thanks man and no worries... As I told you at your house, that lot isn't big enough... Next runs will have to be in the road... A run with this set up in the road and the last one I'll spice things up a bit more...
@@UncleBobsRC use the road I used for the TT01 speed run.
That sucks it ended up in a bit of a mess but it was cooking! Peter said it is good so I am going to go with it was good as well. Hope you can get it back up and running to try it again.
Thanks Addam, It just so happens I have another DT-02 kit here with the same steering rods (swap-done), easy fix for now.... Next runs will be in the road as the lot still isn't big enough... I have one more try the way it is on the road then I'm changing things up a bit...
57!!😮 Too bad about wrecking out but you’ve got my vote for “let it count!” 👍😊
Thanks man.... If not for the bad servo (I have another I can use) and the bent steering rod, damage isn't that bad.. Next few runs will be on the road, no parking lot is long enough for this thing...
Great stuff Bob!! You are smashing it (literally)
Brother, I'm telling you, it's hard to do... The hardest part is getting the speed to the ground without spinning out or wiping out... I spent more time belly up with this run, that poor body slid on it's roof for about 30 to 60 feet... Then I went and bent my rod... LMAO!!!!
Yes Uncle Bob, a crash at 57 mac mph should count 👍 I crashed at 31mph and still added it to the leader board so i think that 57mph should be added to the board as well ✌️ And congratulations on 57mph ... You are still in 1st place, you lucky sod 😆😝😄
Thanks Peter.... This is beginning to take it's toll on this poor buggy, BUT, I'm not done yet, next runs will be in a road, I need more room....
@@UncleBobsRC We all need more room Bob but the general public in their motor cars don't see it our way 😆 Maybe you can get the Police to close a main road for you so that you can reach the ultimate top speed time 😆😝🤣
Uncle Bob ! Great to see you out there!! Where's the Cadi!!!
Ah yes, the Caddy.... That body don't fit on the chassis... I checked...

@@UncleBobsRC exactly!
Crikey mate..... The clods busted!!!! That's a new one to me Bob,guessing it's guna require a thorough process of elimination test of all the electronics? Is this the same one that went swimming?!! 👍 👍 👍
Yes, same one that went swimming but new electrics, RX, ESC's & motors... I did bump up the BEC voltage in the ESC's from 5.5 volts to 8.5 volts.. Tested again today out front and seems to be better... Its still the stock steering & a 20 + year old servo.. Again today, on 2S, speed was over 20 mph... The only thing added to this kit is bearings (must have, even if running kit motors), Steel pinions (again, a must have even if running stock) of the the stock size, so no gear ratio change, stock body, stock suspension & the Castle Creations Copperhead 10 "Basher Edition" with 4600kv motors... I wonder how it will be on 3S??????
@@UncleBobsRC I've said it before, and I'll say it again - You're the king of clods Bob!! 20mph is mad in one of these lumps, think mine is half that speed! 3s could be interesting?!!! Glad you have managed to get it sorted anyway mate.. Thinking perhaps an uncle bobs clod speed run challenge next year?...... 😁 👍 👍 👍
@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC Well thanks man.... It hit me the other day that, I can go into the ESC's (on some) and change the BEC voltage, so I did (Castle Link needed for that). These esc's also have data logging, so I can see esc temps, motor rpm, battery ripple and so on... One of these I had in my Losi No Prep Drag Car, if you ever seen that run... The Castle Copperhead 10 ESC is the bottom of the high end units but on the top of the low end units, think middle of the road esc. Combos, with 5700kv motor and lower can run 3S, above 5700kv YOU MUST only use 2S... Some people don't read that and run 6900kv or 7700kv on 3S and then bitch when their stuff burned out... Then they say Castle stuff if junk.... I never had an issue (but I know how to read).... The hard part is, a Copperhead 10 combo isn't cheap at @ $175.00+ each (this is the lowest I seen) then you still have to get the Castle Link somehow (they come with a code for a free one but I don't know if that the States only).
I just had similar issues with my fms jimny and it was a bad potentiometer in my controller. I replaced it and the receiver with a known good one and had no issues

Steering servo horn is stripped. Super cheap and easy fix! Stock steering horn is too small anyway.
Or the receiver dumped...
Well, I'm not using the stock horn, Hitec Servo's (at least the ones I used 20 years ago, like this one) come with thick & longer horn(s), that's what I use..
@@Poopdogsays Keep in mind, I'm using a single 2S lipo pack, powering two, Castle Copperhead ESC's feeding two, 4 pole, 4600kv Castle Creations brushless motors... Yeah, the RX is a china made unit that can be paired with my Futaba 4PV radio, I use a lot of these and never an issue but this could be a first.. I did bump the BEC voltage in the ESC's from 5.5 volts to 8.5 volts, lets see if that helps...
When you reversed, Bob - "Oh that was not good"!!!! 😅😅 But that think has some power! Time to get those 2 ESC's working in unison, mate! I'm sure you will work it all out, I wanna see that sucker FLY!!! 😎👊🦫👍
They are set up the same, with a Castle system, you can set an esc, save the file, then copy that file to another esc, which is what I did.... However, Also with Castle Link, and an esc that supports it, I just went in and changed the BEC voltage from 5.5 volts to 7.5 volts... Also see my reply I left on Peter's comment & others... These are 4 pole, 4600kv motors. I know this truck has at least 22 mph in it... LOL
Oh, wow, that's a powerful machine! Are all steering links connected? I had on a Slash just the other day, I broke the steering knuckle, but it could still drive, but the wheel would steer weirdly by itself, a bit similar to this... Anyway, I'm sure you'll get it sorted, get this mean machine in shape, dude!
Hey Mads... I think the issue is, one lipo pack powering 2 ESC's that feed a pair of 4 pole, 4600kv brushless motors might be dropping the voltage too low to power the digital servo. I will try a Cap Pack and see if that helps... Also, this servo is @ 20 years old and well used..
Definitely might be that servo; you said it was an older unit? I hope your’e able to sort it out easily Bob!👍😊
Yeah man, the servo is @ 20+ years old and its very used, used it in 2 other race Clods from back in the day, its taken a few hits but still seemed to work fine.. I think the issue might be, one 2S lipo pack powering 2 ESC's that feed a pair of 4 pole, 4600kv brushless motors might be dropping the voltage too low to power the digital servo.
Jaix thats inconvenient. My crawler does drive away for some time now. I use a broken receiver antenna wise. It hase a very limited range. After a few meters it drives on its own. But this thing has no failsafe. I thinks its only the esc settings.
Yes sir, a broken antenna will cause that but this is mostly all new stuff.... One lipo pack powering 2 ESC's that feed a pair of 4 pole, 4600kv brushless motors might be dropping the voltage too low to power the digital servo...
@@UncleBobsRC yea that could be from the look of it. All together can draw some amps.
@@Nordlicht05 That's what I'm thinking anyway.... I could be wrong... LOL
Looks really cool, I hope you will get it sorted 👍
Thanks, I'll figure it out or crash it big time trying!!! LOL
