Just wanted to share that millets in US might be used as bird food but in India and Africa they are a huge source of food for us in our arid and semi arid areas. We have about 8 different kinds of millets - Sorghum, Little Millet, Pearl Millet, Finger miller, Barnyard millet, Porso, Browntop and Kodo millet. Food not just for humans but also the straw from these is used as animal fodder.
I just found Matt Powers and he is INCREDIBLY intelligent and inspirational for a brand new baby gardener, ME! Thanks for your quirkiness and fun while teaching!
Great information Matt. This is the first video of yours I've watched so I'm a bit late to the party but you give me a new perspective on gardening / farming. Awesome job!
Gotta crooked neck spaghetti squash, pretty proud of it. (Started from my dads spaghetti squash, and my grandmas crooked neck squash). Taste is good, easier to carry around, and more productive then the two strains by them selves (still keeping the originals separate though). They have been keeping here longer then winter, and we get a little warm for a while, not hot. One still standing for a full yr. (In storage, open air in the house) max temp probably 75-80 degrees. Never hotter.
As far as the hedge row to separate neighborhoods pesticides, we have escolonia, works really well. Also we can't have a fence to high but the natural escolonia fence hasn't been an ordinance yet. Pretty annoying though even beyond privacy, keeping the neighbors monsanto out should be good enough.
How can I get my sugar cane to grow as well as your pictured? Long thick healthy barrels? Can they & should they be regularly fertilized like any other plant? Thank you for also answering my prior questions as well! & I love watching these vids & learning! Please keep them coming
if there is a simple answer, how do you get the seeds from other countries? I thought we weren't allowed to transport seeds across borders. just wondering. thanks

I LOVE the S.T.U.N. idea you mention, by stressing the plants and training seeds! Great info

Sand and clay do NOT create cement. Stop telling people that.
