    Thank you thank you thank you, you were spot on… problems with my oven and grill not staying lit…all resolved , must have been some debris at back of oven, now tried it 3 times, and it’s working. We’ve had a nightmare trying to light it whilst away. However on our way home we called into dealership who advised it was the valve sticking, charges would have been 200 pound for the valve and 75 pound per hour, estimated £600. Thankyou once again from the bottom of my heart, I’m sure you’ve save lots of your CZcamsrs who follow you, a fortune.

    Mark ,
    What a star you are !! I just gave my gas cooker knob a few hits as you said, I even gave the spindle a slight blast of silicone.
    It all works absolutely fine now.
    I was about to order new parts etc.
    I owe you a pint my friend !!!!!!
    Thanks again
    Duncan.

      Duncan, I have the same problem, thanks for the heads up, you said you sprayed the spindle with silicone, was the switch spindle still in situ in the oven & what type of silicone spar did you use? Thank you

      @@gregorypepper8674 Hi Gregory,
      Sorry late reply. Yes all in situ .
      The silicone is an ordinary one that you can get anywhere.
      Spray can of course.
      Mine is still working fine 👍🏻
      Best of luck
      Duncan.🙋‍♂️

      Hopefully a good clean will fix, the mini magnetic valve arent expensive so might be worth a new one. Just make sure its fully gas checked after any work. 👍

    Hi Mark, just wanted to let know this has fixed the problem on the oven and grill that would not stay lit after releasing the temp control dial. I was thinking the valve was going to need replacing but this simple trick of repeated press and releasing the dial has done the job. Much appreciated advice. Many thanks

    I could have done with this a year ago - our Grill behaved exactly like this. A month ago however it just began to work properly again, and I can only think after watching you that a speck of dirt was jammed for a while then freed.

    Hi, I have thetford aspire 2, grill never used, probably because it has never worked !
    Grill will light but not stay on, I assumed thermocouple faulty, but when I removed the thermocouple from its mounting and positioned it a bit more into the flame, then it worked ok, so thermocouple not faulty, just in the wrong place from the start.
    Trouble is no way to get the thermocouple into its mounting and enough into the flame to work - bad build from thetford.
    I rang round for a thermocouple, guess what, they only sell a new grill burner assembly and thermocouple combined at £85 ! Because of course a new thermocouple would not solve the problem, bad form from thetford, want me to buy a new assembly because they built it wrongly in the first place. Thetford - fix your own problems, don’t give them to your customers to fix for you.
    Thanks for the channel and videos, ATB, Colin

    Hi thank you again, but it did not work, But this may help someone, I was going to take the sensor off the oven to see if it was the sensor on the grill, but on checking where the wire went and guess what I found ?? the wire was off on the micro switch on the left-hand side put it on, all is great always the same when you want to sell something thank you again from Sunny Skegness.

    I used to fix portable gas heaters when younger fitted hundreds of those had box's of parts in stock, no need to wait if the person is doing it every day. I guess the problem is these days people no longer buy from a place that can fix them. Lucky Amazon does not sell caravans be hard to return the van never mind get it in the box. They would end up in landfill as a thermocouple is to hard to clean. and send you a new one.

      Yes we are in a throw away society unfortunately, so many things are easy fixes but just easier to throw away and replace. Sad really. 👍

    I have a Caprice MK3 and the oven and grill are separate....The grill works fine but the cooker is not staying alight...well, sometimes it does stay on and sometimes it doesn't...very frustrating and when it is on you have to keep an eye on it as it goes off...tried banging it...still very temperamental...

      Normally on the hob lid, try moving it up and down, and push fully back when lifted.

    Mark - useful video as usual, been watching your channel for months!! been a great incite to caravan dealership etc , just brought our latest caravan 2017, have a question what can you recommend to get rid of stubborn black streaks - have a few on off side and tried the usual suspects- finwicks black streak remover , Aero cosmetics wash ,wax all, Autoglym caravan and motorhome cleaner- but there still there !!! any advice would be great , thanks Ian

    Just got new camper van is it normal for the grill flames to be inconsistent

    • @thecaravanplace
      @thecaravanplace  Před 2 lety

      They can flicker, as long as they are burning blue and not yellow, it could be a gas supply or just a draught can also cause this.

    IF you take a van in for storage and it gets stolen, or damaged. who is held responsible.

    • @thecaravanplace
      @thecaravanplace  Před 2 lety

      Its still the owner unfortunately. The storage site is just providing parking and some security, but its then upto the owner to use extra security and have insurance for theft or damage.

    Hey, my 2011 thetford oven & grill both work fine. The 4 hobs however do not. Nothing, not even hearing the gas being supplied, I've dismantled and cleaned the ignition points under the rings but made no difference! Would this be the thermocoupler or something else? Thanks

    • @thecaravanplace
      @thecaravanplace  Před 2 lety +1

      Try working the glass lid up and down, there is a switch in the lid that if its not pushed fully back or its sticking it won't let the gas through.
