The entablature on the mantel above the fireplace in Jefferson's bed Chamber matches the room's entablature except for one unusual (and non-canonical) detail: the acorn decorations between the dentils.

The acorn symbolizes the huge potential in small things and teaches us to wait for maturation of a project or idea. Perhaps Jefferson was projecting the need for patience to watch the growth of the new republic of the United States from something quite small to something much larger over time?
