We're getting ready to bring home new mice! In this video, I'm showing you how I set up my new DIY bin cage for bringing new mice home.
This is my very first mouse cage set up so let me know if you have any suggestions. I do have more toys on the way! More details will be coming soon!

Bin Cage - this cage measures 32.5" x 13", or 422.5 square inches. To my knowledge, this size bin is NOT suitable for a hamster!

This looks amazing. My only concern is that vets advise barred cages as they offer much better ventilation. Mouse urine is very high in ammonia and glass or plastic enclosures don't let the air circulate.
i love the setup! looks so cool, i currently have a group of 4 mice and I'd recommend giving them more than one wheel cause sometimes they can get really frustrated. your mouseys will have a great life!

It looks awesome. Very good low-budget setup (i would have added a hammock and a branch though). I bet these guys lived the rest of their days very happy.
I like the cage but if you are getting a group you need 1 wheel for every 2 mice. I also recommend putting more hides and a lot more climbing toys and maby a coco fiber dig box. Other then that the cage looks great and you've done a really good job 😊 good luck with your mice 👍
Thanks! They are senior mice and aren't that active anymore, so I went based on what the foster told me they actually used and liked. I don't know how much she knew about mice though. I did add more climbing toys after this and they definitely do like to climb, though they never use their hides lol they just burrow a lot! I have a video introducing them talking more about them 😊

It came out so nice! I love mice, I watch Creek Valley Critters, a mouse channel, she's wonderful, and so calming! Now I can watch your mice as well, lol. Mice are incredibly smart, and just so sweet, I would LOVE a few, but I have my hands full with 6 guinea pigs!

I am not that familiar with mice care and I have a question, do mice burrow?
They do! Burrow and climb lol
they burrow like crazy. my mouse has 10 inches of bedding and it's so fascinating seeing the burrows he builds in such short time periods.
Can the mice chew through the zip ties?
They probably could eventually, none of the mice that I’ve had paid much attention to them though
@@TheTinyHerd Okay, thanks! My mom told me I can get one if I read Tale of Desperaux first and I have to wait til after our Vacation, so I've been doing my research while waiting. She absolutely HATES mice though so it took a while to convince her. lol 🤣

I have a mouse to! I love the video! I suggest you use a water bowl because i have had problems with water bottles.
I already don't know how I'd use a water bowl, they've buried everything lol

@@4guineapogs I actually got them a different bottle on a stand and its working pretty well, but mostly because they like to climb it 😂
@@TheTinyHerd that's good! Yeah my mouse just started Burrying it so I had to put two water bowls one that is small enough that I can put it on a platform. But the bigger one has to go in the bedding so she burrys it! But I just don't trust water bottles anymore because either I did something or it broke? She just couldn't get water out of it. (Not trying to scary u out of getting a water bottle or anything) :)
