    You could add some fabric to the bottom of your curtains that you thing are too short. If you can’t match the fabric, do a matching trim. I like your van. Today’s project is curtains for our daughter and SIL camper van conversion. You inspired me to get started!

      @@oneadVANtureatatime ... what do you mean by "acrylic" .. i tried googling acrylic velcro, but it all has sticky side, which you said dont use because it gums up the sewing needle. . .will you please leave a link to the particular velcro products you used.

    • @briannab5296
      @briannab5296 Před 5 lety

      Robjuni, i like magnets too butto get them strong enough to hold the fabric up they have to be very strong (unless your fabric is very thin) and they are pricey especially considering how many are needed for all the windows. Magnets are fun though. I have a store bought type sunshield for the windshield but have cut some Reflectix for it so now iuse the sunsheild on the side windows, whichever one is getting direct sun, in front folding it in half (1/2 hanging inside, other half hanging on outside) roll window up and secure outside flap with magnets. Working out great. But the magnets arent working well on the inside house windows on the van. . . I'd like to try the velcro sometme, its affordable, but theres such variety to choose from, i would hate to go to all that work and expense to have it not work in my van, it gets EXTREMELY hot in there. . . At the moment i'm just using bungee cords & clothespins to hold up the Reflectix at the windows. Not pretty but its helping to block some of this scorching heat out, for now.

    I think you did a wonderful job, you learn as much from your mistakes made as you do your successes ! Do you think doubling regular black out curtains is better than the special insulated fabric from JoAnn Fabrics ? You can find black out curtains even at the Dollar General, and I would imagine JoAnn is much more expensive for their fabric plus making them from scratch takes time and talent. Thank you for sharing.

      I have not used any of my off-road gear like: tow straps, shackles, pulleys, and air compressor.
      We have used our dremal cutting tool a couple times and our snow tire chains😀

    Thanks for this video! Couple questions: 1) Do you get condensation on your windows w/ nothing between the glass and the blackout fabric, and 2) On the back 2 stealth coverings, did you sew in the dark material (and if so, what is it), or did it come on the reflectix visor? Thanks!

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  Před 3 lety

      We do get some condensation on the windows even with the insulated black out curtains. We have just installed a new heater and this year we are expecting no condensation because of the dry heat. The back window inserts came with that grey material already sewed on it. You could just cut reflective material to fit and that would work also. We are considering sewing magnets in some blackout material for the rear windows to make them quicker to remove and put back up.

    Great ideas! How did you install the rod for the cab and what did you use?

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  Před 4 lety

      We had to cut out part of the plastic insert above the cab to fit a curtain rod in it. If we would have left room in front of the cabinet it would have been better and easier.

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  Před 5 lety +2

      +softdorothy We love the deck!! It's a must for cleaning our solar panals, which I do every week or more. Plus I have been hanging laundry to dry up on the roof when there are no trees or sun elsewhere.
      All that said we don't hang out up there as much as we thought🧐 We do keep a couple of storage items up there and are considering putting a paddle board on the deck if we have extra cash.

    I’m not sure if you’re a pro master is like mine but I change my own oil and I noticed my radiator coolant was well below the ad line so I went to the dealership and bought a jug of the concentrated antifreeze and I went to add it and I noticed when I open the bottle “ radiator reservoir”for the first time it was vacuum sealed and it rose to the minimum line once opened so I went ahead and added a little antifreeze to bring it up to closer to the full line, also I was wondering if you carry a tire plugging kit along with a air compressor I was Boondocking with some truckers park their trucks and I was in bed and I heard somebody talking and then all of a sudden I feel the van shake and I told them get the F away from my van, So I felt a little adrenaline rush and felt like maybe I better leave so I went to drive away and noticed they had sliced my two driver side tires and it was late at night so I got out and plugged Both tires on the side walls and drove Slowed to a safe place to park for the night .plugging kits come in handy even on the side walls slice if push comes to Shove

      +Raymond Driggers Yes we have a tire plug kit and small compressor, have not used the plug kit but nice to know it works on side wall damage!!! Sorry to hear about your tires getting slashed🤨
      Our radiator has a pin hole leak some where but I can't even find a drop of coolant..
      I usual have to add a cup or two of coolant every 3 months. Was talking to other promaster owners and they have same issue...this is the same motor brand that was in my jeep wrangler which also had a phantom coolant smell..never found that leak either...wonder if it's a common problem on most Pentastar engine types.
