I admit that itâs pretty hard for me to find Halloween DIYâs that I would actually want to make. The ones I do find are really elaborate and costly movie prop type projects. I really loved the crystal ball, book ends and cauldron shaped candle. †I definitely have those on my list of things to make. Thank you so much for sharing your projects and inspiring me.
Iâm so glad you found some good inspiration đ„°
They also have the whitest white and a mirror one. Rae Dizzle tested them out. She was amazed!
Great DIYâs! Love that super black, black. And people, you can use pipe insulation from Loweâs or Home Depot if you canât get pool noodles. Just know that it has a split in it. So you have to glue that and put it towards the back. And they also only come in black. Love your ideas!
Thank you!
Youâre doing so good babes. Youâve come so far and your projects keep getting better and better. Keep surprising me and your fans. Youâre going to do great things
Thanks babes, love you đ„°
So spooky! I love the candles with the skeleton dressed in black.
Thank you
These projects were Great. You did such a good job. TFS.
I love each of these. Very cool black paint. Great diys.
Thank you
You are blessed with a great husband. WOW! The blackest paint is expensive and amazing too. There is a paint that is blacker but it's not available for public use. NASA uses it. My uncle was a rocket scientist and he taught me a lot. I really like the candle idea. Nice job. đâ€ïž
Thatâs crazy is it called vanta black? My husband was telling me about that one recently too. My son loves learning about Space and NASA right now especially with all of the amazing images coming out from the James Webb telescope
Crystal Ball w hands is my favorite. Great job.
Thank you đ„°
When you paint over the crackle medium you should paint one time one direction. It won't work if you go back and forth. A serrated knife cuts styrofoam and pool noodles easily. I love your creativity!
Thanks for the tip! I did quite a few things wrong with the crackle đ€Šââïž
@@angelajonesdiy we all live and learn! I admire that you just get out there and do it and share the learning experiences with your audience!
The candles! Iâm doing this. Love it!!!!
I've used the crackle medium. It's been ages since I used it. I used it on a buffet table. I bought it from Home Depot. I was told you have to allow the medium to get tacky. I did just that and I loved how it came out. Also, I was told to put the medium all in one direction. I think I waited 30 minutes for the crackle medium before put on a different color. So I did red paint, then when that dried, I put the crackle stuff on, waited 30 minutes for it to become tacky, then applied the secondary color on. I think the top color was a creme color. I remember loving the look.
The whole effect is wonderful.
Thank you
The crystal ball đź is WOW!
Thank you so much đ„°
Wow what a great job you did with the skulls awesome đ„°đđ€©đđđđđđ
Thank you!
I donât do spooky but these are very good! Have you tried using Elmerâs glue to get crackle? Thanks Angela
I havenât. Iâll have to try the glue method next time. Thank you
I learnt something new today, the effect you can get mixing baking soda and paint is amazing
Love that!
I loved absolutely everything that you made> I came across you by accident and then subscribed and rand that receive all bell, Thank you I can't even pick 1
I love to hear that đ„° thank you so much!
I'm not sure how fire safe it would be, but making the inside of the tea light stands gold would be SO beautiful! I just imagine the flame would flicker off of it and make it glow. Since they are glass, maybe painting them gold first, and then a second layer of black so you have the "peak a boo" effect would work more safely. Loved all of these DIYs!
OMG why didnât I think of that đ„° that would be stunning. Great idea
What DIY are you talking about in the video I don't see any tea lights stands painted gold on the inside
Wow I love these ideas !! Great work thank you for sharing đđđ
Thank you so much đ„°
Those bookends are so up my alley. Love them. Great job and I am thankful for the easy projects. đ
Thank you so much!
I love the skull and I love that black paint I need to get me some of that paint
It was fun to work with and I love the velvety feel it has
@@angelajonesdiy I need to get me some of the paint. Are you going to be doing more Halloween video
Cutting the hands just gave me a interesting idea, top of hand glued on popsicle stick crossed base, fingers held together with jumprings for dangling adding strings with black and orange bells and creating a wind chime.
To be a little extra one could even use the smaller skulls cut a hole in the bottom to feed small bells into and a small hole to feed a string through the top and have hidden bells in the skulls.
Love that idea
@@angelajonesdiy thank you!
Thanks for sharing. Great ideas!
Thank you so much đ„°
So awesome. Thank you!!!
This is the first time I have watched your channel. I'm impressed!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much đ„°
Loved the bookends idea! đđ€đđŠđžïž
Thank you!
WOW ... I am not at all a fan of skulls but OMG.... That looks really good
Thank you so much! I used to be a huge fan of skulls when I was much younger but I love how these could be timeless fall/Halloween decor pieces
These are great, thanks for sharing
Thank you
LOVE the book ends. THANKS. on my way to Dollar Tree. đ
Thank you! Love that đ„°
@@angelajonesdiy I went and got my skulls
Thanks again for the idea. Iâm going to leave them up all year. Thatâs just how I roll. đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Great ideas. Thank you
Thank you
A masterpiece thank you
Thank you so much đ„°
Pretty COOL!!!
You have amazing ideas!!! Spooky Groovy work đ€đ€đ€
Thank you so much đ„°
Very cool awesome job.
Thank you
Easiest way I've found to crackle things is Elmer's/white school glue, seriously. Thin layer under paint for fine crackles, thick layer for bigger cracks. I tend to brush both glue and paint in the same direction for the best crackles. Never had a problem with it, hope that helps!
I'm currently in the middle of a pool noodle candle DIY and had my partner carefully use his hole saw on his drill press to make the holes for the LED tea lights. The lights fit perfectly inside the pool noodle!
Thatâs a fantastic idea and Iâm sure much less work đ„°
Wow Angela, you did such an EXCELLENT job !!! They turned out so sick, gold and black is a perfect match !
Thank you so much đ„°
That's beautiful đâ€ïž
Thank you!
Turned out cute !!
Thank you
they all came out nice đđœ
Thank you
I really enjoyed watching this video. Thank you for the ideas. Especially, the cauldron candle.
Thank you so much !
I need that black paint! đ€đ€đ€đ€
Yes it is fantastic and I love the velvety feel it leaves
Girllll you're a genius!! Love how ALL these diys turned out. I'm gonna attempt (đ€) a few of these like the crystal ball, candle cauldron and bookends. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us!! đđ»đđ·đžđŠ
Thank you so much Lauren đ„° Iâd love to see how your projects turn out đ€
Great projects! New subbie, looking forward to watching more videos! Big hugs and blessings!
Thank you so much and welcome đ„°
Great job on everything
Thank you
Great DIY's that look REALLY awesome, but don't seem overwhelming to do! Thanks so much!!
Thank you! I love to provide a variety of skill levels on the channel from super easy to a little more advanced đ„°
Just found you n I'm happy to see a fellow Yinzer. I know I'll find the same stuff you haveđ„°đ„°đ„°
Loved all your ideas.
Your hubby was sweet to buy you that blackest-black paint.
Crazy about books so I really liked the skull bookends.
Awe thank you đ„°
Great video. I been wanting to do squalls. Now I can
Thank you
In my experience you have to gloop that crackle medium on much much thicker and then it'll work great!
Oh ok that would make sense Iâll try that thank you! Do you also let it dry? The directions say to let it dry before adding the paint on top and I did that
@@angelajonesdiy Actually no! I always go for the method that Deidre from Our Upcycled Life here on yt uses! She glops it on nice and thick and then go straight in with the paint, let it dry and it always comes out looking fantastic. I hope it works out for you!!! The stuff sold specifically as crackle medium is supposed to work after it's dried but it always seems to work better wet. Just be sure to wash your brushes out really good!!
It might depend on the type of paint you're putting on top as well, I haven't done that much experimenting personally.
When you're putting paint into the cracks of the hand you can add a little water to the paint to get it more liquidy. It seeps into the cracks easier!
Thatâs a great tip!
I thought the skull looked kind of cool painted half black, half aged white. Loved the gold leaf effect.
That actually would look really cool đ„°
Love that Steelers'' logo! đ€đ
Thank you!
Would recommend an adhesion promoter if you are painting, well really anything but especially plastic. 1 its always going to make it so the paint adheres properly and doesn't just flake off but also going to help cut the use of paint down significantly.
Thanks for the tip đ„°
Love them all. I use Elmer's glue or any white school glue to crackle. I have never tried the mediums.
I need to try this method. Now do you out the top layer of paint over the glue while itâs still tacky or wait for it to dry?
@@angelajonesdiy I put my first layer of paint then let it dry then put the glue on it. I always dry the glue a bit. It still is wet but it's more glossy than white. Then I add my top paint. Go in one direction and one swipe the best you can. You don't want to keep going over the glue.
I like your Diy they're really neat
Thank you

Goooo đ€đđ€đ Steelers!!! I love everything u made!
Thank you so much! Yes go stillers đ„°
Great job creating these spooky Halloween decor ideas!!
Thank you
Love the cauldron, what a unique idea
Thank you
Awesome!!!! Thanks!!!đ
Great projects, the new black paint does make a difference but it does seem to resistant to the plastic & 3 coats? Maybe try a coat over the black chalk pain? Love the cauldron candle paint technique!
Yea it was definitely resistant to the material. Once I painted it over top of the black chalk paint it worked out much better and still had that velvety feel
Great ideas!!!! We'll done đ€
Thank you!
It's amazing paint. I've also tried it, mine went on a little thicker..I wonder if it was an odd batch đ€..It worked out good though. Looks great đđ„
I watched a few videos of people using this paint before I tried it and I did not seem as thin and runny as mine was. But it still looks and feels really cool
First time here. You are VERY creative! I enjoyed the video. đ
Thank you so much đ„°
These all turned out great. I look forward to making them. Tfs
Thank you so much đ„°
Love these!
Thank you
Cute ideas!†I want to try and make the fake crystals coming out of skulls but gotta find recipe again. I think it was borax and the dye!????
Great job...just wanted to add that the waverly ink paint is blacker once it's sealed with wax or clear coat.
Oh thatâs good to know I donât think I have added a clear coat over it before
Iâm just outside of the Burgh - so Hi neighbor! đđ» I donât do a lot of Halloween decorating, but these are great. I love how dark Black 3.0 is. The gold leaf really popped on those skulls.
Hey neighbor! Love that đ„° I donât do a lot of Halloween either but figured it would make the most sense for testing out that paint lol
I'm 412 too. Great video
My daughter lives in moon township, I'm outside of Morgantown,WV So hello from a fellow Steelers fan!!!
@@304girlriggs7 my 9 to 5 job is in Coraopolis!
@@annastayja thank you!
Genius!
The Black 3.0 should have a base black under it and thin thin strokes or it'll streak. But it's super fun to paint with.
Thanks for the tip!
If you have it, add a bit of cement to the inside of the bookends to have it functionally work :)
Prop pro tip: if you start the glue at the bottom if the drip and then pull upward its looks a lot mor organic and realistic
Thatâs a great tip thank you! đ„°
Luv the bookends!đ
Thank you
Thank you, i thought i was doing something wrong....because i can't get crackle medium work at all. I have tried Elmer's glue and it worked so much better.
Thatâs what I need to try next!
I love dollar store creations! One thing that make a great coverage for skeleton hands is amber shalak (just wanted to share)
I donât think Iâve heard of amber shalak before. Iâll have to look it up. Thank you
Great ideas, I'm also from the Pittsburgh area. Go Steelers! đ
Love that!
To get good cracks use glue before las the heavy coat of paint only one time brushed paint, it works great
Ok thank you for the advice thatâs what I keep seeing. I definitely went back and forth over the crackle and paint working it too much.
First video Iâve seen from this channel and am excited to find out if the others are as amazing as this one! Absolutely love how each project is explained with voiceover and filmed so you can easily see what you are doing. BUT am most impressed that you shared your ideas, thoughts, trials and errors. Thank you!
Canât say I have a favourite as each is brilliantly creative, with spot on awesome finished projects that do not look anything like the typical cheap and or tacky decorations found in every big box store. Thank you again!
†from Shannon in Canada đšđŠ
*Edited as I forgot to ask the following question.
Do you find the darkest black paint worth the additional cost? Iâve never used it before but am definitely curious. It looked spectacular in the side by side comparison. Wondering if it looks equally spectacular on its own with nothing to compare it to. Just donât want to spend the money unnecessarily. Thank you ahead of time to anyone who replies đ
Thank you so much for the kind words I really appreciate it đ„° as for the black paint I will say the feel of it is unlike anything I have every used. It dries with a velvety feel which is really cool. But I donât know that it is truly worth the cost
Thank you for your kind reply and honest answer. I wholeheartedly appreciate it! Thank you
crackle never fail.... Elmers Glue layer and paint right on top as it dries it crackles
Maybe thatâs where I keep going wrong. The directions on the crackle say to let it dry before you apply the paint on top
@@angelajonesdiy good luck
nice and thick experiment on scrap wood
The crystal ball one was neat, but I'd make the cuts on the palm side of the hands and glue them together that way.
Thank you
@@angelajonesdiy Thanks to you too. Really got me into the Halloween spirit.
I could be wrong but the crackle medium has to be put on in one direction or itâs overlapping and two thick to do the crackle effect.
I believe the top paint must also go on in the same direction also.
Oh ok thank you for the advice I did not realize that. Iâll give it a try next time đ„° I did watch a video the other day saying not go back and forth with the crackle
Try plaster of Paris added to your paint for better crackle effects. A 1 to 4 ratio works
Oh interesting I have not heard that technique before. I have a whole container of plaster of Paris. Thanks for the advice đ„°
I †everything definitely had to be a new sub! I wished found you sooner. Oh and the best crackle medium I have used is folkart.
Welcome! Thank you. I have heard the folk art one is good
Your pool noodle candles are probably the best I've seen on Utube. Maybe the extra details of bats spiders and purple rose's?? Very nice.
Thank you! All the little bits definitely add to the vibe đ„°
you did good job
Thank you
@Angela Jones DIY chalk paint won't crackle. You have to use acrylic. It should say on your bottle. I used a whole bottle of medium crackle and then read the label. Good luck.
Oh ok thank you! The crackle I was using said for chalk paint but that probably makes sense that it should be a thinner acrylic paint
I love painting these skulls. But how do you get the first layer of paint to adhere to the plastic skulls? I have painted and sealed some and the paint scrapes right off.
Did you try sanding the skull first? I find that helps if you rough up the plastic surface
â€ïžđâ€ïž
I love the idea you have here. Your very talented & creative! I have been making lots of Fall & Halloween Themed items on my channel too. I just love this time of year! Keep the great videos coming!!i
Thank you! It really is the best time of year for crafting and DIY projects đ„°
You can use Vaseline in between layers of paint for the crackle effect
Oh yes I didnât even think of that. I tried that a while ago and itâs a good technique. Thank you đ„°
Interesting
I need to make the skull bookends!!!! But use year round đ
They can definitely be a year round piece đ„°
This is fab
Thank you!
I was a gypsy last year so I made a crystal ball with the snow globe but spray painted mirror finish inside then scratched it up a little bit so that when I put the light inside you can see it from the outside.
OMG that is genius! And I have mirror spray paint. I wish I would have thought of that. The chalk paint was the worst paint I could have used it was working against me
@@angelajonesdiy but I did scratch it just like you did and then put just a little red acrylic paint inside. Dollar Tree has these little light up congratulations sign and I took off the congratulations and attach the light by velcro to the lid.â€ïž
I had the same problem with the crackle medium. I did every method I could find, but to no avail.
Ugh thatâs so frustrating. I have not tried the Elmerâs glue method yet. đ€đ» that one works for me
With crackle you need to go in the same direction and you can't go over the same area, that's where you went wrong, you were swiping back and forth in different directions
I would use those bookends year round. Maybe put concrete in them to make them heavy.
Yea you could definitely use them year round đ„°
Hey I'm from Pittsburgh too! Hi neighbor! đ
Love that! đ„°
For crackletry this. Saw a video earlier where they painted the piece with Elmer's glue and then put their paint on top of it,basically mixing glue and paint so when the glue dries and shrinks it'll split and crackle. Might be too extreme an effect for what you're trying to do but maybe if you find the right concentration of glue you can make a mixture that works for you.
Thank you for the advice! That seems to be the common theme. Use Elmerâs glue and apply the paint before it dries. I will definitely give this method a try next time đ„°
