She basically said the world sees that the Russian military can bleed, which means it's not undefeatable. The Post-Soviet countries are confident knowing that if they band together, they may be able to stand-up to the Kremlin and no longer live in fear of the tyrant.
Russia's military is being pushed right up to the limit with the war they are in now. The cannot afford to fight a single war elsewhere while the current one is ongoing.
Russia's foreign policy is to strike fear into its' neigbours. Once its' neighbours are united and no longer afraid the Russian regime will collapse.
Thats why they go to NATO.
Same with the us too, any Amy can bleed.

The LACK of active Belarusan military support is what I am wondering about. I heard that Belarusan military forces refused to actively participate. It is almost like Belarus is "allowing" Russian forces to use their territory, but NOT helping them very actively or enthusiastically. Wish I could hear more about that. If Lukashenko cannot order his own military to engage, then that says a lot about where the "center" of power lies...
Think i remember that sort of rhetoric being said about the Venezuelan army when the usual culprits were trying to start a coup and install Guido, who still claims himself as president.

I didn't realize that the Belarus people were siding with Ukraine in this conflict, and that they are actually fighting alongside Ukrainians. Probably a matter of transliteration, the French have their own system to transliterate Cyrillic (and other non-Latin alphabets and scripts).
Swedish and many other languages do that.
In Sweden we write Gorbatjov, Tolstoj etc...not Gorbachev or what ever.

The problem is never trying it diplomatically. The problem is the question of costs, when people become so desperate that they they can be easily taken advantage of, because they want to talk from a position of fear and weakness. Chamberlain's appeasement leading to WW2 as well as Angela Merkel's prior to the invasion of Georgia, Crimea and now Ukraine 2022 are excellent examples of how you fail and your fear will only lead to even more death, because you were not able to say no and stand your ground.

Interesting information about Belarus!
Putin has marketed himself as a protector of Russia's strength and influence throughout all areas of strategic importance to Russia. I believe the opposite is true, as he shows the weakness of Russia's military, slowly adds fuel to the fire of opposition in Belarus, and influences Finland and Sweden to join NATO. Meanwhile China would rather *replace* Russia as the biggest counterbalance to western power instead of *supporting* Russia in that role... and India feels much the same way.
There is a quiet but noticeable change in the position of China and India towards Russia. A silent distancing. Especially since the nuclear sabre rattling.

I am excited to see an open and free Belarus someday. They are shrouded in mystery a bit but what I have seen is cultural similarity to Ukrainians in music and embroidery and language. Belarus and Ukraine both come from ancient Kyivan-Rus', and were neglected on purpose by the Muscovites and Soviets who occupied us since the Mongol Horde left

If Ukraine's direct opponent in this war were not Russia but Belarus, surely NATO would have swiftly walloped it. Such an action, moreover, would be rather likely to unseat Lukashenko for good, and pro-Europeans might form a new government. Thus he must be in sheer terror of being coerced by Putin into sending his forces across the border. I say he ought to do it! Ukraine might soon have one less enemy and one more ally.
