      you know what i've been thingking?
      why don't we just dump our co2 and ch4 excess to mars? so by the time we colonize mars, we don't need spend much to transform mars. and we didn't need to worry about climate change because of methane and carbondioxide that we produce

      Bonaventura mostly because it would take a super long time even with super compressed gases and huge space ships it's on the order of trillions of tons it can be done but like global climate change on Earth it would take hundreds of years for a few degrees of change and Mars needs a lot more than a few degrees the biggest factor would be if the runaway greenhouse effect would be strong enough to speed up the process.

    All you have to do is look at how animals on Earth, as far down as the Mariana trench which tonnes of pressure from each side, cold temperatures, no light and high saline concentrations thrive to see how it's not so farfetched to have the idea of microbial life in Mar's underwater lake(s)

    • @djb903
      @djb903 Před 6 lety

      Purplepoppyanimator what about the huge amounts of concentrated constant radiation due to the lack of significant atmosphere or magnetosphere?

    • @PurplePoppyAnimator
      @PurplePoppyAnimator Před 6 lety +5

      Bacteria have been known to survive the radiation of empty space, the radiation would be less concentrated underground and not exposed to the sunlight.
      The atmosphere is thin and there's a lack of ozone so it would make surface life virtually impossible, but underneath is a different story, that's why Theories like Europa can have slight possibilities of extremophiles surviving in these environments, this isn't complex life but most likely unicellular, if any.
      Some animals and bacteria thrive in extreme conditions, like underground ocean trenches, volcanic ash making the surrounding water boiling yet some thrive off eating the methane etc.
      You never know what life can adapt to survive in, that's what makes the idea of discovering extraterrestrial life so much more fun to think about, who knows how differently they could have evolved to us? And what we could learn from that.

    NASA should send a robotic drill station there, if needed in multiple launches, if so, the best idea would be to send all needed parts to the ISS with some missions and then send rocket parts there and then assemble the whole thing, to then send it off to Mars.
    What i mean is, sending everything in one mission would be stupid.
    This would also be great if we decided to build a Colonie on Mars, sending everything needed to the iss and assemble the whole thing in orbit, is way more efficient than in one go.

    This discovery is certainly worth the "stop the presses" excitement but not because it holds out an even remotely plausible hope of e-t life. It is exciting because when (or if) we establish a human presence on Mars we may be able to use it to our advantage.

    • @frankschneider6156
      @frankschneider6156 Před 6 lety

      1. We would learn a lot about life itself. For life science this would be a giant leap
      2. Nothing else would happen. Well possibly NASA's budget would be less cut than it would be otherwise.

      I think I remember that line of though a little bit... when conditions were right here in Earth we did have many different creatures developing in parallel though, most are dead because others were better suited, but maybe it could just be a matter of having the right conditions and time, after all... we might be doomed, but things already are the way they are, and at least it would be very interesting!

    Is it possible that in the time since losing its' atmosphere & the loss of its' oceans, the erosion of Mars' surface covered vast quantities of water in deep layers of soil? Sandstorms redistributing the Martian topography could have saturated what bodies remained with perchlorates while sealing said bodies under ground.
    Basically, what happened first, surface erosion or evaporation?

    • @patjackrickson6733

    • @DaleFrewaldt
      @DaleFrewaldt Před 6 lety

      Yes, but I'm curious to know if a Martian water table would exist because of similar processes as those on Earth, or if they're a unique byproduct of Mars' transformation to a "dead" planet.
